Crap films you love

I realised recently that some of my favourite films are ones that are considered shit by most film buffs.

Grease 2
Supergirl
Flashdance
The Phantom of the Opera ( film version of the ALW musical )

Oh and Holiday on the Buses. I know it's awful, dated sexist rubbish but it makes me just howl with laughter. It was also filmed in and around Prestatyn and Rhyl in North Wales, which I'm pretty familiar with with.

OP posts:

How to lose a guy in ten days
10 things I hate about you
Raise your voice (Hilary Duff!)

FishCanFly · 10/06/2015 11:03

Time turns all sorts of crap into classics.

getbusyliving · 13/06/2015 09:41

Something Wild - 80's film with Melanie Griffith.

Also the 'Karen Carpenter Story' watched this before I'd heard of the Carpenters and just loved her voice.

AnneOfCleavage · 14/06/2015 21:01

Romancing the Stone
Jewel of the Nile
Look who's talking 1,2 & 3
Overboard
Grease 2

I love The Cutting Edge. Introduced my 10yr old DD to it & watched it the other day. I sang along to all the 'hit' tunes Blush

Ice Castles
Ice Princess
(notice a theme growing here Grin )
High School Musical 1,2 & 3 Blush

Just love all the cheesy movies that teens like i guess Blush

LizzieVereker · 14/06/2015 21:10

I love Starship Troopers. I have no idea why I love it, it's awful, but I find it totally fascinating.

mrsschatzepage · 15/06/2015 14:27

All Carry ons
All of the National Lampoon Vacation series with Chevy Chase
The House Bunny
Just the Ticket
Valentine's Day
All disaster movies (Airport, Earthquake.Dante's Peak etc. )

mrsschatzepage · 15/06/2015 14:29

Dante's Peak (My typing is a disaster!)

chelseabuns2013 · 01/07/2015 18:05

Vikingdom!!

OttiliaVonBCup · 01/07/2015 18:09

There's a film topic?

Mine are, in no particular order, Mamma Mia, The Replacement Killers, Con Air, The Rock.
All officially crap.

smellylittleorange · 01/07/2015 20:27

Howard The Duck and the Burbs for me!

smellylittleorange · 01/07/2015 20:28

Oh and Mall Rats and on a Rat theme cannot believe no one has mentioned BEN

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 01/07/2015 20:34

Oops. Echt I hadn't even noticed. In my defence I was high on my new meds that night. It was night wasn't it? Citizen KANE not CANE. :o

I have more crap but, strangely good films to add. Ahem.

For those with US Netflix check out Dutch. Normal working class fella picks his rich girlfriends snobby kid up from boarding school because said kids dad ( who he idolises and treats his own mother like shit as a result) lies about being busy and can't see him. Predictably the kid ends up learning a very valuable lesson about friends, family and wealth. But with prostitutes and torn pants along the way. It has the dad out of married with children in and the kid out of empire records. And the mum from poltergeist. Ok and the fella from Happy Gilmore plays The twatty dad. Shooter McGavin. I may be over invested in this film.

A Mel brooks film called Life Stinks. That's pretty good. My family had a video shop. Ive seen or at least heard of most crappy films. :o

DrEdwardNigma · 02/07/2015 02:37

Tremors is an amazing film!!!

Legally blonde
She's all that
Mean girls 2
Batman (Michael Keaton one)

BitOfFun · 02/07/2015 03:29

I'd take issue with Legally Blonde as a crap movie- of its type, it works really well. Legally Blonde 2, I will grant you.

BitOfFun · 02/07/2015 03:31

The ultimate enjoyable crap movie is surely Grease 2?

SenecaFalls · 02/07/2015 03:46

Legally Blonde is not a crap movie.

Mrsleighdelamare · 02/07/2015 20:21

Snakes on a Plane
Eight Legged Freaks
Tremors
Road House

Films deemed to be vaguely intellectual, or worse still, 'thought provoking' are not my thing at all. I want high octane crap.

Even my DH liked Legally Blonde.

Mrsleighdelamare · 02/07/2015 20:23

I should add that I did film studies as part of my degree course, this is probably why I like films for entertainment's sake. Way too much time was spent watching proper films and analysing them.

Mrsleighdelamare · 02/07/2015 20:23

Oh yeah, Starship Troopers is a proper crap film, I loved it too.

MrsHenryCrawford · 02/07/2015 20:32

Love starship troopers as well, no idea why.
My guilty pleasures would be the xx men films, and Robin Hood men in tights. I also really enjoy the film it ripped off-prince of thieves

ipswichwitch · 02/07/2015 20:33

Tremors is definitely in the good category - I love it
Other favourites include:
Big Trouble in Little China
Mannequin
Critters (yay! So it's not just me and my DB who've seen it then!)
Sharknado
Starship Troopers (medic!!)
Clue
Spaceballs

BitOfFun · 02/07/2015 21:23

At the moment I am watching a bit of vintage enjoyable crap: The Incredible Shrinking Man. It's wonderful Grin

BitOfFun · 02/07/2015 21:43

I take it back- it's not remotely crap. It's a moving philosophical treatise on how no matter how much life beats him down, literally shrinks him, he discovers inner strength and resources he never knew he possessed, and is able to look fate in the eye.

DrHarleenFrancesQuinzel · 02/07/2015 21:44

I love The Final Destination films.

Lots of girly crap: Teenwitch, Coyote Ugly, 13 going on 30, Speed, Miss Congeniality (1 and 2), Girls Just Want To Have Fun, Letters To Juliet.

In fact I often dont like films that win oscars and stuff. They are usually quite boring to me.

I also dont like films that requires a lot of thinking.

woodhill · 02/07/2015 22:09

Manequin

Soulman really dreadful

Joe and the Volcano

Likely lads caravan film
