Crap films you love

I realised recently that some of my favourite films are ones that are considered shit by most film buffs.

Grease 2
Supergirl
Flashdance
The Phantom of the Opera ( film version of the ALW musical )

Oh and Holiday on the Buses. I know it's awful, dated sexist rubbish but it makes me just howl with laughter. It was also filmed in and around Prestatyn and Rhyl in North Wales, which I'm pretty familiar with with.

Sliding Doors is probably in this category so that

IntellectualLlama · 13/05/2015 21:12

The Replacements, where Keanu joins an American football team of amateurs when the professionals go on strike. I admit my liking of this film may have something to do with Keanu wearing football kit rather than the quality of the plot, acting, etc.

TiggyD · 13/05/2015 21:33

Starcrash.

A Star Wars rip off with David Hasselhoff. Ridiculous plot full of holes, terrible acting, effects are shit. Absolutely fantastic. Watch this review for the highlights.

CrapBag · 13/05/2015 21:43

Ummm how is Con Air considered a crap film? It's brilliant!

Same with Cruel Intentions and Mean Girls, Dirty Dancing, all non crap films.

I like Please Sir. A 70's film from the series (that I have never seen) even my film mad DH raises an eyebrow at that one and he will sit through any old shite.

YourMaNoBraBackOfMyCar · 13/05/2015 22:40

Tbh, crapbag I don't think they're crap films but I'm told they are crap by snooty losers who pretend to watch Citizen Cane or Gandhi. Y'know. Posh films.

Ellie88 · 14/05/2015 13:39

Look who's talking 1 & 2, the princess bride, the wiz.

Shinyshoes2 · 14/05/2015 13:45

I LOVE Muriel's Wedding
44 inch chest ( watched it yesterday it's fucking hysterical )
Snakes on a plane

Hi all,
With the kind permission of the OP, we are going to sweep this thread over to Films shortly.
Thanks.

Not to sneer at your spelling. YourMa, but Citizen Cane sounds like one of those porn re-makes of the classics, e.g. Shaving Ryan's Privates or Raiders of the Lost Arse. Smile

FishCanFly · 22/05/2015 10:25

The Mutant Chronicles

A gruesome horror film with religious messages and scenes copied from videogames. People say that this is impossible to watch unless you're drunk or tripping, but i can't be objective, because i love Steampunk art and i fancy Ron Perlman Blush

Dismalfuckers · 22/05/2015 10:29

Father of the Bride

Childrenofthestones · 27/05/2015 10:00

Carry Ons
Specifically Screaming, Camping, Khyber and Cleo.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 27/05/2015 21:18

Clueless is not crap, it's a classic!
I quite like The Perfect man and material girls, both with Hilary Duff. I don't consider them 'crap'though just silly!

TwinkieTwinkle · 04/06/2015 23:06

Bad Girls of Valley High. I seriously recommend that everyone buys this. It is so incredibly bad it it's good!

Salsa - worst acting in the history of Hollywood but I LOVE it
Series of unfortunate events
Crazy / Beautiful
Wanted

JetStarandtheKobraKid · 05/06/2015 03:56

Love, "A Clockwork Orange". Kooky, crazy & spookily old...but I love this film!

zukiecat · 06/06/2015 02:00

Penny Serenade - Dreadful, ancient old Cary Grant film but I love it.

2012
Poseidon

Pretty much any disaster movie, they're my favourites. Just been to see the new one San Andreas, and I loved it, though you do have to suspend belief.

pinkelephantnightclub · 08/06/2015 16:28

Roadhouse... just perfect

smoothieooo · 08/06/2015 16:36

There are many...

Terminators 1 and 2
Total Recall (original). I promise I'm not particularly a fan of Arnie
Overboard (Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell)
The Mask
Son of the Mask
Ah jeez I just remembered another one which makes me realise I do have a thing about Arnie after all... True Lies (with Jamie Lee Curtis).

smoothieooo · 08/06/2015 16:47

Shaun of the Dead
Hot Fuzz
Paul

If a teenage boy would like it, I would probably like it!

LeBearPolar · 08/06/2015 17:18

A lot of these are not generally considered crap films though. Legally Blonde and Clueless are two examples of films that were critically well-received as smart, funny, well-acted films. Likewise, the Bill and Ted films are now classics of their time.

A crap film is something that is universally panned - something like Battlefield Earth with John Travolta looking like this:

Taken in Broad Daylight, one of those TV movies. I can't not watch it if it's on. Actually, must trawl Youtube for some more movies starring facially immobile ex-TV stars of the 80s. My name is Kate starring Diane Something and Frank Furillo, anyone?

meandjulio · 09/06/2015 20:56

Terminator? Total Recall? Hot Fuzz? These are definitely not crap movies FGS!
