Today on More4 was a film called MirrorMask. Ok, I didn't watch it right from the beginning but I reckoned that, even if I had, I still wouldn't have understood what was going on, it was so weird. Anyone else seen it?

There was another one that I saw on holiday this year, again missing the beginning bit, called Cloud Atlas. Didn't really have a clue what was going on but enjoyed the film anyway. Can anyone explain it to me please?

Vanilla Sky. Made me Confused

EATmum · 01/02/2014 21:13

Bumpotato - agree, beautiful but zero plot really. Think that was the point. Husband has blog on this stuff if you're interested: notlefthandedfilmguide.co.uk/2014/01/30/inside-llewyn-davis/

BumPotato · 02/02/2014 00:19

Thanks EAT I'll have a look.

Its0kToBeMe · 02/02/2014 00:20

Black Swan.

Confused

Crash I couldn't follow. Not the video nasty one, the 2004(?) one.

The Prestige. XP made me watch it boasting that him and his mates guessed the twist in the first five minutes. I didn't get the twist even after it was explained in the end Confused In fact I've just read through the synopsis on IMDB and I'm still not sure what happened. Didn't like the film anyway.

I had to watch Brick twice before I understood what happened in it.

JoR73 · 10/02/2014 21:10

Confusing is not neccessarily bad. I enjoyed Donnie Darko. Mad Max is crap though and made no sense.

HermioneWeasley · 10/02/2014 21:12

I had not the faintest idea what was going on in the last Batman film. Everyone was mumbling and it appeared to have been filmed entirely in the dark.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 23/02/2014 14:31

Agree with cloud atlas, I was very disappointed and switched it off after about 15 minutes. It was also difficult to watch whereas inception, another confusing film, I found to be more absorbing and interesting! I could easily watch it again but cloud atlas just gave me a headache.

hollyisalovelyname · 02/03/2014 09:05

In Bruges.
I had no idea what was going on.

BunnyBeanz · 12/03/2014 23:52

Just watched Dallas Buyers Club... Eh? Hmmm, will need to watch it again... ??

BOFtastic · 12/03/2014 23:56

What was confusing about Dallas Buyers' Club? I've just watched it, so ask me what you didn't get and I'll see if I can help.

Scarletohello · 13/03/2014 00:10

Fuck, Eraserhead is the most disturbing film I've ever seen. It's like having one of your own nightmares where nothing makes sense on screen. Saw it over 20 years ago and I can still recall images from if now, makes me shudder! ( brilliant tho)

Re Tinker Tailor, it doesn't make sense because it so much has been cut out that it doesn't really hang together. The 7 hour tv production with Alec Guiness is miles better. And does make sense!

Mummyboo92 · 22/03/2014 16:16

Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy - to be fair we were 10 minutes late but I think it was so boring I just stopped paying attention.

Angelto5 · 10/05/2014 10:07

Have watched the original total recall loads of times (I'm a huge arnie fan) but still don't get it.
Who was he-doug or hauser???
Haven't watched inception yet but my 15yo has but I think I need 2 find time 2 watch it without interruption.

susiedaisy · 10/05/2014 19:50

12 monkeys

LumionaMoonsplash · 10/05/2014 19:55

Donnie Darko & Inception agree, Totall Recall too. I like 12 monkeys but switched off Eyes wide Shut / Magnolia / Vanilla Sky before the end because I couldn't be arsed.

Binkybix · 18/09/2014 07:48

YY to Total Recall!!

WeAreAllStarDust · 10/11/2014 22:07

Inception. Totally lost.
In Bruges. Didn't know what was going on.
Gravity. I am a very amateur astrophysicist and space geek and I switched this off after 30 mins. Awful.
Black Swan. What?

candykane25 · 13/11/2014 22:35

I loved the film Cloud Atlas but couldn't read the book.
I think it's about reincarnation and redemption, same people meeting again and again in different lifetimes and playing different parts of the same story? I might be totally wrong.
Beautiful film.
Inception I did get but found parts of it tedious. The endless ski scene.
Tinker Tailor, saw it at cinema and had yo get DVD when it came out to understand it. The dialogue is too flat and it's easy to lose concentration.

BestIsWest · 16/11/2014 21:31

Gorky Park. DH and I watched the whole thing mystified. Took us years to fathom out what it was about.

hollyisalovelyname · 18/11/2014 18:36

Oceans whatever number.
I must have missed the start or something.
Not a clue what it was about.
Reservoir dogs ( is that with Uma Thurman and John Travolta).
Another mystery to me Smile
And as I said previously, In Bruges.

singleandfabulous · 16/12/2014 13:49

The Counselor. Just didn't get the interaction between the characters at all. Didn't understand why a successful, Bentley driving lawyer would be strapped for cash and didn't understand why on earth he would get himself mixed up with the Mexican drug cartels and see a positive outcome. Didn't get why Brad Pitt seemed all worldly up to the point where he was taken in by the blonde in such an obvious fashion. Had to rewind and re-play most of Brad Pitt's scenes too as he was giving his usual 'read from the script' dead-pan delivery which was barely decipherable.

alteredimages · 21/01/2015 22:28

Another vote for Vanilla Sky here. I was stupid enough to try watching Abre los ojos too, the Spanish film it was based on, and couldn't make head nor tail of that either.

Redglitter · 21/01/2015 22:31

Lost in Translation - just seemed to have no story

Elledouble · 21/01/2015 22:35

I didn't really 'get' The Grand Budapest Hotel Blush I enjoyed it, but I don't know what it was trying to say.

Surprised at people saying In Bruges - that's one of my favourite films. It's hilarious.
