Today on More4 was a film called MirrorMask. Ok, I didn't watch it right from the beginning but I reckoned that, even if I had, I still wouldn't have understood what was going on, it was so weird. Anyone else seen it?

There was another one that I saw on holiday this year, again missing the beginning bit, called Cloud Atlas. Didn't really have a clue what was going on but enjoyed the film anyway. Can anyone explain it to me please?

Came on to say Donnie Darko but filee beat me to it. Only I didn't enjoy it either. An hour and a half I'll never get back.

VerySmallSqueak · 14/09/2013 19:33

I very often don't understand films as my mind wanders off,but I enjoy them anyhow. If it's important I ask my dh to explain halfway through, which he is admirably patient about doing.

filee777 · 14/09/2013 19:35

Bless your DH!

I get donnie darko now, but I've watched it about a million times to understand it!

DaleyBump · 14/09/2013 19:37

Inception. Fucking Inception. I still don't get it.

VerySmallSqueak · 14/09/2013 19:38

I've tried to watch The Hobbit a few times now,but just know I haven't got the attention span to focus on who is who and who's doing what and I suspect that's quite important.

I am usually pleased just to know who is the goodie and who's the baddie.

iwouldgoouttonight · 14/09/2013 19:39

I thought Cloud Atlas was a brilliant film but I wouldn't be able to tell you what it was about! I enjoyed Donnie Darko too and think I understood it but it was a while ago so I can't really remember, I only remember the scary rabbit!

I didn't I understand Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy but i'm not sure if it was just because I got bored and stopped concentrating.

SanityClause · 14/09/2013 19:40

I saw Platoon at the cinema but it was before I realised I am short sighted.

It was all just a green blur.

ihatethecold · 14/09/2013 19:41

Meet the tenenbaums

Did not have a clue what that was about.
Also eternal sunshine of the spotless mind.

vickchick · 14/09/2013 19:42

Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise and Penelope Cruz- even if you explained it to me in single syllable words I still wouldn't get it...

iwouldgoouttonight · 14/09/2013 19:43

Ooh Inception is one of my favourite films, I loved all the dream within a dream within a dream stuff. Very hard to follow though.

Films I normally find confusing are ones involving something to do with American law enforcement, CID, CIA, DEA, Fed, etc, I have no idea what anyone does. I'm aware this is due to my ignorance rather than the film being confusing Blush

iwouldgoouttonight · 14/09/2013 19:44

I don't think I understood Lord of the Rings either.

buzzgirly · 14/09/2013 19:48

Vanilla Sky - it was terrible and I didn't understand any of it

Iamhappyanddelighted · 14/09/2013 19:51

I agree with DaleyBump. Fucking Inception.

AngelsLieToKeepControl · 14/09/2013 19:58

Definitely Vanilla Sky, I saw it at the cinema and came out feeling confused, watched it when it came out on dvd again, still none the wiser, tried watching it a few times since and I think, but I'm not sure, that everything that happens in the film is just a big dream, in which case it's the most pointless film ever.

hugoagogo · 14/09/2013 20:05

Big trouble in little china, [baffled]

Tabby1963 · 14/09/2013 20:08

Donnie Darko, that's the one with the big rabbit?

Inception. Watched it three times and, when concentrating really carefully, finally got it. Liked the ending. :D

I should get a copy of Cloud Atlas and watch it again, and again. It is beautifully filmed, it made me laugh (man being thrown off roof and big fight in pub scene) and some of it made me cry (like the futuristic bit where the girl was terminated). Haven't seen it for sale at Tesco yet...

Donnie Darko is right confusing but I was happy to watch the utterly lush Jake Gyllenhaal, and yes I know he's playing a schoolboy it again and again in order to understand it. Still not entirely sure I do yet . . .

DontmindifIdo · 14/09/2013 20:18

Swingers. Just a bit pointless angst.

trikken · 14/09/2013 20:22

Inception, Minority Report and The Time traveller's wife.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/09/2013 20:25

I had to watch the spanish version of Vanilla Sky. I thought it was the language I was having trouble with, so put on English subtitles... didn't help one bit.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 14/09/2013 20:26

Actually, at the end I felt like throwing myself of the bloody building with him!

Shakey1500 · 14/09/2013 20:30

Usual Suspects. I've had it explained to me and still don't get it Blush
