Did anybody else love those Molly Ringwald films in the Eighties?

I particularly liked Pretty in Pink.
But also Breakfast Club.
And other films of the same mould, not necessarily all with Molly Ringwald in them.
Whatever happened to her anyway?

YY both were good. whatever happened to the 'Brat Pack'?

Socci · 13/06/2006 21:49

\link{http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000208\she has done some stuff since then}

She's starring in a play in the westend I think. I love all of those films too, but I hate the dress she wears to the prom in pretty in pink!!

arfy · 13/06/2006 21:54

Sixteen Candles

GENIUS

tribpot · 13/06/2006 21:54

Got PiP and the Breakfast Club on DVD, both classics. I remember "About Last Night" was considered the height of raunch cos Rob Lowe and Demi Moore actually "did it" in the film (not really, you know what I mean). The high school movie isn't dead though, recently I've enjoyed "10 Things I Hate About You" and "She's All That" (saw it today in fact, recorded from telly last night) - both so innocent, main concern being going (or not) to the prom.

I also have Footloose, classic.

I wallow in blissful nostalgia at the mention of those films. I had a dreadful teenage crush on Andrew McCarthy of all people (and I'm only mentioning that in the relative anonymity of MN).
'Catholic Boys' was a particular favourite, and 'Class' (with Rob Lowe and Jacqueline Bisset). Stop me now.

MarsLady · 14/06/2006 21:28

I loved the John Hughes films and all the brat pack films.

You look good wearing my future!

notanotter · 14/06/2006 21:30

god i thought she was sooo pretty!

foxinsocks · 14/06/2006 21:32

I loved those films when I was younger. Had massive crushes on lots of the blokes in them (esp Breakfast Club - was it Judd Nelson)?

Tatties · 14/06/2006 21:32

I loved Pretty in Pink. The soundtrack to that was ace. Wasn't as keen on the Breakfast Club though.

notanotter · 14/06/2006 21:33

about last night rates in my top ten shitest films!

emkana · 14/06/2006 21:34

I loved Andrew McCarthy as well. Shock

notanotter, have you seen Honky Tonk Freeway? If not, you may revise your opinions.

foxinsocks · 14/06/2006 21:34

also ferris bueller's day off etc. - there were loads of films like that around that time

notanotter · 14/06/2006 21:34

i stand corrected

CountessDracula · 14/06/2006 21:35

Judd Nelson was the one for me!

tribpot · 14/06/2006 21:36

Elephant on water skis, I jest not. The brat packers never came up with anything like that.

emkana · 14/06/2006 21:36

I liked Judd Nelson in the Breakfast Club, but he wasn't half as attractive in St.Elmo's Fire in a suit, IMO.

gladbag · 14/06/2006 21:38

If we're talking crushes of the 1980s, can I just mention John Cusack.

Lovely.

foxinsocks · 14/06/2006 21:38

yes that is true (about Judd in a suit!)

foxinsocks · 14/06/2006 21:39

having said that, I loved his brooding moments in breakfast club

bubblerock · 14/06/2006 21:40

I always liked Andrew McCarthy too Grin Also liked Eric Stoltz in Some kind of wonderful he has amazing eyes, have most of these films on video but need to replace eventually with DVD.
