Absolutely. It goes along with the Cameron 'calm down dear' and the Johnson calling a Labour MP by her husband's name, knowing that's not what she uses professionally. It's puerile banter , certainly, but it's designed to put women in their place. The wink is not supposed to be sexy, just patronising and sexist.

This is a great riposte to this kind of lazy misogyny.

I thought from the way this was being written about that Dominic Raab had said something sexist. All he did was wink. Does this not happen in lots of different contexts on a regular basis? My (female) boss, who us definitely not a Tory. frequently winks at me when she's being funny and my window cleaner did on Wednesday. We all survived. No accusations were made.

I also think Angela Rayner can stick up for herself - and did so.

We already know that Dominic Raab is a misogynist, his recent statements on the rights of UK women to have an abortion demonstrate that. Now we know that he's a nasty creep who had a dig at a WC woman for having the temerity to go to the opera.

He didn't do this down the pub with his mates. He was speaking for the government in parliament! Those words were recorded in our country's official records. Then he did that rank wink.🤢 Angela Rayner should not have to put up with that shit in work. No woman should.

And I should not have to put up with it. I deserve a better government than this. We all do.
