What are the top three issues facing women today (uk)

I think it’s the fact that the word ‘woman’ is being framed as shameful. Closely followed by our over sexualised society and the continued existence of the glass ceiling. Unfortunately 1 makes the other two harder to measure and fight - especially if we can’t discuss it.

Sorry should have added ... and their presence in such spaces makes it impossible to keep other males out.

The attacks on the ability of women to organise and campaign as a sex class is a meta threat in many ways. If there was no discrimination against women on the basis of sex in wouldn’t really matter. But there is discrimination, and because of the biological differences between male and female bodies there always will always be.. So I tend to think it should be seen as a meta-issue rather than a solveable one - the ability of women to organize and campaign as a sex class is simply fundamental to the existence of any sort of fight to ensuring justice for them as a group.

Other than that I think the 3 top issues in the world are violence against women and male sexual entitlement, the lack of control/fair distribution over family and societal wealth and health care.

In the U.K. I would say it’s violence against women and male sexual entitlement, greater poverty than men, and social expectations & lack of support around caring responsibilities (both the burden of reproductive labour/childcare and the care of ageing relatives).

To keep it really practical and simple, I suggest:

For girls and young women - porn / the beauty industry / violence from males

For mothers - lack of reliable and cheap childcare, plus men's expectation that this is the woman's problem to sort.

For older women - pension poverty and sexist healthcare

Okay that is more than three, but it highlights that the problems are different at different ages. And of course they overlap, I'm not suggesting older women don't get attacked by men or young women don't have issues with sexist healthcare

If I could do my top 5 I'd add

Ignorance of women's health

General contempt and ridicule of women and girls and related issues

DifferentHair · 22/06/2021 22:56

1 male violence

2 lack of representation

3 controlling relationships

EmbarrassingAdmissions · 22/06/2021 23:53

Domestic and intimate partner violence
Ever expanding carer responsibilities of increasing complexity

@Ereshkigalangcleg

Male violence

Gender identity ideology

Objectification of women and girls

I agree with this.

But doesn't that mean this is in the wrong place? Or needs to be in both?
