Does anyone else feel really depressed at their kids starting school again? It's making me so miserable 😞 do other parents feel this way? I see so many saying they are glad they are back which I do understand but I just feel so sad and depressed about it and on the count down to the next time off

I get really melancholy too.
• sad that the hols are over
• daunted that I’m back to work (not sad, as I enjoy my job, but it’s term time only and I feel overwhelmed by going back)
• really really nostalgic and amazed and sad that the kids are already the ages they are, that they’re turning into cool nice good people, that in another X number of years they’ll be leaving school/home, and it feels like yesterday they were babies
• glad that the autumn I look forward to all year is here
• glad for the routine to be back
• sad about restrictive routine and clubs coming back
• I love my job and was obviously looking for more as a SAHM, but now I work I just want to sit on the sofa under a blanket with my family for the whole time

Can’t please me! 😄

That's ok you don't need to relate. Plenty do even shock horror those who work!

Unfortunately unless you are willing to look into homeschooling which you may well be, school is just a part of life. If you work full time or at least school hours and need to put your kids in holiday club, nothing really changes. If you're at home with them then of course you're more likely to miss them when they go back. I'm sure this is why people were asking what hours you work and who is home with your kids when you work in the holidays, as they could then advise on practical ways to manage how you feel. If it's any consolation, I don't miss my child when he's at school but I do miss him when he goes to his dad's!
