Has anyone tried hypnosis or NLP for a phobia?

I have agoraphobia and I'm desperate to get on a plane and get on a beach!

The hypnotist - who was, on paper, an experienced and respected practitioner - told me a percentage of people never respond to hypnotherapy. I've no idea how accurate that statement is, or if he was just on the bluff.

Correct. About 20% of people don't respond to hypnosis/hypnotherapy. Not their 'fault' nor that of the practitioner.

Interesting. What's the thinking behind why a certain percentage don't respond?

@PossumintheHouse - there's no definitive answer. It might be a fear of the loss of control, or lack of trust in the process/practitioner or some anomaly in the brain.
