To not want them to come

nyemisery · 31/12/2022 10:24

We have visitors arriving today.

I don't want them to come because it means I have to stay alive.

UnpackThisMess · 31/12/2022 10:25

Talk to us, what's making you feel this way?

Fleurdaisy · 31/12/2022 10:25

You sound as if you’re struggling atm. Is there anyone you can talk to?

nyemisery · 31/12/2022 10:26

I'm done. I don't want this any more.
Tired of the constant struggles with money and trying to make ends meet

UnpackThisMess · 31/12/2022 10:29

Money is such a small part of life. What makes you happy aside from this issue? Who's visiting? Could they help?

RegularNameChangerVersion21 · 31/12/2022 10:30

I'm sorry OP. Can you talk a bit more, who are these visitors? Are they people you can confide in or more casual acquaintances?

RegularNameChangerVersion21 · 31/12/2022 10:31

If the former please lean on the, - most people are ultimately good and would feel happy to help. If the latter and it's all too much please just tell them you're unwell and not up to a visit. If things are too much it's fine to take some of the load off.

nyemisery · 31/12/2022 10:31

I can't
I just can't go on being hungry and cold and like this
I'm the bottom of society and I'm worthless
I'm done

DreamingOfAGreenChristmas · 31/12/2022 10:36

You are not worthless.

You are worth visiting, worth spending time with.

You are a human being. It isn’t fair that life is so hard for you at the moment. Take every shred of help available. Food banks etc.

We are past the solstice: the evenings are getting lighter, Spring and warmer temperatures are on the way. Not yet, I know but coming.

You really are not worthless. The hardship you are enduring is not a measure of your worth.

heathspeedwell · 31/12/2022 10:39

Hang in there, you are worth far more than you realise. Can you speak to someone at the Samaritans? They may be able to help. It's free to call from landlines and mobiles. 116 123

Wayk · 31/12/2022 10:40

You are not worthless, you are precious. Write down everything that is worrying you. See can you make small changes to sort things. Are you working? Can you extend your hours? Are you claiming every you are entitled to? Have you family you can share your worries with?

Notanotherone123 · 31/12/2022 10:41

There is always a way through. Sure you'll lose a Welly boot in the mud along the way but there is always a way out.

If the people visiting are close friends/family talk to them. Tell them how you feel. It is difficult to open up but they would much rather you open up and talk to them than not.

If you can't do that please talk to us, or the Samaritans. 111 has a mental health crisis ine too if you need it

AnneElliott · 31/12/2022 10:42

You are definitely not worthless op. Can you speak to a close friend or family member - I'm sure they'd want to help you.

caravanbuckie · 31/12/2022 10:52

Who are your visitors OP?

I'm glad you have visitors coming, if that's the only reason you get through today then it will be worth it. You are not at the bottom of any pile, you are struggling in hard times. Can you talk about any practical things that people can help with/point in direction of help?

ImaniMumsnet · 31/12/2022 10:58

Hello OP, we are really sorry to hear you are feeling this way.
We hope you don't mind, but when these threads are flagged up to us we usually add a link to our Mental Health resources. You can also go to the Samaritans website
or email them on [email protected]. Support from other Mumsnetters is great and we really hope you will be able to take some comfort from your fellow posters, but as other MNers will tell you, it's really a good idea to seek real-life help and support as well.

We also like to remind everyone that, although we're awed daily by the astonishing support our members give each other through life's trickier twists and turns, we'd always caution anyone never to give more of themselves to another poster, emotionally or financially, than they can afford to spare.

Some further support links:

NHS: Where to get urgent help for mental health
NHS: Looking after your mental health
MIND: Coping with mental health problems during coronavirus

CALM: The Campaign Against Living Miserably
NHS: Help for suicidal thoughts

Very best wishes from MNHQ.

Who are the visitors?

Are they people who are supportive or will they make you feel worse?

Unless they are very nasty people then I wouldn’t cancel as sometimes it is good to have company to put things into perspective.

As a single parent working FT just to have no money after bills and being exhausted all of the time, then I completely get it but it’s just a part of life and you have to try and not let it get you down.

There are always people who are much worse off.
If you have visitors then you must have a roof over your head and some friends or family - which is a lot more than many people have.

Lots of people struggle with their bills and it doesn’t mean they’re worthless.

Maybe when your visitors have gone you could talk about your circumstances and see if any MNer has any good advice.

RegularNameChangerVersion21 · 31/12/2022 12:06

OP if you're struggling to feed yourself today I would suggest making an anonymous post on a local facebook group. People will often have spare bits they're willing to donate and drop off. They can also direct you to places like Sikh temples or food banks that might have food available today.

nyemisery · 31/12/2022 22:18

I'm here just about

Just an obligation visit. I cancelled it.

Stopthebusplease · 31/12/2022 22:59

Who were your visitors OP? Or did you cancel? Did you talk to them about how you're feeling? Please talk to us, as it's clear you really need support right now, and as others have said, we're all here for you. Is there ANYTHING we can do for you?

Hopeyoursproutsarealreadyon · 31/12/2022 23:03

I wish mn had been around when times were at their worst for me op. Grab the chance to accept some support here op.
Are you currently safe from being harmed by others op?
Police have ways of hearing a call for help op if you can't talk.
