***Citalopram Buddies... ;o)***

Well.. jumping in on the act of the other "buddy threads", there seem to a shed load of us on citalopram.

How many of us are there exactly?

What dosage are you all on? Is it working?

I'm on 10mg for anxiety. It certainly takes the edge off the panic feelings and stops me waking up with that dreadful, crippling anxious feeling, as if my stomach's in a vice. But being as things are a bit crap at the moment, I do feel generally down even though I've never been technically considered depressed (just suffering from lifestyle induced anxiety!)

DH is on 20mg. Similar reasons, slightly different symptoms.

We have been on it since June.

I came off mine (sensibly) a month of so ago but the horrid panic came back and I just couldn't face all that again. It makes life "un-do-able" and I have a lot of stuff that I have to get done everyday/responsibilities etc. So not sure what the answer is but I certainly don't want to stay on anti depressants forever and GP originally mentioned a 6 month time slot.

What are other's experiences?

PS I hate the "no orgasm" side effect of citalopram!! It really really bothers me.. main reason I wanted to come off it.. but I hate the anxiety more! Anyone else on it suffer in that way?

Thanks but I'm going to ignore this thread (when I find the flipping link).

I didn't realise when I posted that this is a support thread for those suffering depression and I can't even begin to understand how difficult that must be.

We all need space to ourselves even online and TF knows me in real life and knows I am always here for her if she needs me.

MascaraOHara · 08/11/2007 10:44

OK but don't feel like you can't post

MascaraOHara · 09/11/2007 08:44

Morning, how is everyone?

TF, are you around, how are you feeling today?

IdrisTheDragon · 09/11/2007 12:34

Hello. I am feeling pretty good . Sleep is much better (including DS and DD, which always helps). Feeling less jittery too. Perhaps it helps I haven't been at work since Tuesday (have shifted around work patterns this and next week).

I do wonder about work, but short of winning the lottery, need to carry on.

MascaraOHara · 09/11/2007 12:41

My sleep has improved tremendously and I'm starting to grit my teeth less... feeling better too.

Hi everyone. Hope you're all doing ok. Am starting to get there with the tablets i think. Feeling a lot less lightheaded thank goodness. Got a numbness on the right hand side of my head with a bit of an ache. Don't know whether this is a side effect or not but i'm definately starting to feel better. Maybe there is a light at the end of the tunnel after all. Take care

Sakladdie · 10/11/2007 17:17

Hi just ound this thread and got good info about citalopram. Have been on since dd (4) was 7 onths due to pnd nd takin anxiety attacks. Totally didnt realise the teeth gritting thing was part of symptoms doh!!!!! Also been very worried about loss of libido. Doc considered psychosexual counseller. Hubby been fab tho and feeling so much better myself. Tried coming off but no go. On 20mgs.

TinkerbellesMum · 11/11/2007 15:19

I didn't know that about gritting the teeth either, I do it when I'm not well too. My canines are quite worn from it and my front teeth have been knocked out of place.

TigerFeet · 11/11/2007 19:22

Hello everyone. Everyone seems in good order atm

I have had a really bad few days and tbh I still feel rotten. I am still coughing, it has been over three weeks now, am going to have to go back to the doctor I think. I have no energy at all, all I want to do is sleep. My eating is terrible. I am a mass of skin infections, probably because I immune system is not good. DD still won't sleep unless I am curled up at the end of her bed - dh has tried but only Mummy willl do.

It can only go up from here [attempts to be optimistic]

MascaraOHara · 12/11/2007 09:45

Hi, how was everyone's weekend?

Mine was OK and I'm feeling a lot more balanced at the moment. so hopefully I'm settled into a routine with the pills now.

TigerFeet · 12/11/2007 10:21

Morning MoH

Balanced is good

I am at work this morning, but am going home at lunchtime when I have cleared some of the critical stuff off my desk. I am still coughing and croaky - NEARLY FOUR WEEKS NOW - tried to get into the docs today but they are all booked up. Feeling better in myself today though, dh did loads over the weekend so that I could sleep.

Heres to a good week for everyone

MascaraOHara · 12/11/2007 11:01

TF, you sound a lot more positive than you did last week.

You need to go to the doctors when you can get an apt, being ill for so long - you'll run yourself into the ground and end up feeling worse.

MimsyMum · 12/11/2007 13:20

I keep wanting to stab myself, whenever I pick up a knife in the kitchen please, someone be there.

MascaraOHara · 12/11/2007 13:26

Hi Mimsy, they do say A/Ds can make you feel worse before you feel better.. just don't do it - OK?! there are lots of people here who will listen if you want to talk.

MimsyMum · 12/11/2007 13:32

It's horrible, two weeks on them now, and I don't think I want to die, but I just can't get rid of these thoughts about harming myself. There's been physical effects too, I'm itching like mad.

MascaraOHara · 12/11/2007 13:33

Is it Citalopram you are on? your GP should have told you to go back and see them after 2 weeks.. when is that appointment?

MimsyMum · 12/11/2007 13:45

It 's on Frtiday, but I think I'm going to go this afternoon
