I did comment on the other thread but it doesn’t seem to be active.

Anyone else trying to get a diagnosis at the moment?

Bippity defo pursue diagnosis!

Medication if it's stimulants it's supposedly an instant effect like a switch on and off so you can see Straight away whether it works. If non stimulant you have to wait for it to build up.

Yes snoozing/struggling to get up is an adhd thing but I'm not sure it's enough of one to put on a form - I don't T know of its an official one or just something observational? Delayed sleep phase disorder is supposed to be commonly comorbid, and that rooms a lot of bells with me.

Just re found this thread. . hope you're all doing ok.

I kind of impulsively booked a private assessment Blush , and have been diagnosed with ADHD, he said primarily inattentive.

I don't know how to feel about it tbh, it feels odd that I've decided what night be wrong with me and sought the assessment.

It just got to the stage where the waiting to find it was too much. NHS services were already taking a long time and are clearly prioritising urgent mental health issues.

So I've just chucked some savings at the problem. I've to work with their titration service to try medication. Then if I can get a settled dose they'll try for a shared care agreement with the GP.

Head still spinning a bit with this, even though it's been a while since I realised this might be my issue.

Reading with interest. Dc have adhd and the meds help with it, but Im not sure if I have it, I have always had some traits.... like always having to be on the go, not being able to sit and watch tv unless it's something really really interesting, bad concentration and focus.

I used to be bad at like missing trains and planes and things and always leaving things to the last minute, but Ive managed to turn that round in recent years because my anxiety makes me early instead now!

I also get really overwhelmed, like if I have too much on at once, even simple things that others can easily cope with. I get myself in a stress. This makes it really hard doing any kind of decent job, I have to think carefully what job I can take and make sure I can manage it!! Sometimes I think its fear and anxiety rather than adhd? I have no idea if I have it. I have taken similar meds before and they helped me focus but they also made me a bit faster and have more energy, which makes me think maybe I don't have it, because with my dc and others who have it, the meds seem to slow them down and make them quieter. I thought about a private assessment but don't want to go through with the expense and hassle at the minute.

I have that book about organising on my list now in amazon, looking forward to reading it. I also love reading about adhd lol but find it hard to read things that I don't find interesting!

@BertieBotts Totally forgot about this thread!

So I had my appointment with my psych a couple of weeks ago and he brought up that he thinks I have ADHD. I’ve never brought this up with them before or my cpn. My next appointment is the beginning of September where he said he will go over a more thorough assessment?

So I’m not sure if that means he will be doing it or he needs to assess further before referring me to specialists? Not really sure what to expect. I’m in Scotland
