May I have a small rant???!

Have had bad PND and am pulling myself out of it really well, but lately things are starting to get too much again...

My Grandad has bladder cancer and has just had prostate and bladder removed (went well thank God), I've got to start leaving DS in nursery so I'm bricking it about that and the cherry on the cake of it all is work giving me hell about return to work options - have refused them, saying its full time or nothing so have to think about looking for roles in another department that does offer flexible working, which I don't want to do as I like what I do but don't feel as if have any choice and am also appealing their decision so there are lots of e-mails back and forth and an appeal date looming....

Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!

oh gawd nikki, why do employers think they can get away with treating returning mothers (and fathers) like this?????

could you speak to your local citizen's advice bureau for free legal help? i tmight be worth it and they may be bale to help clarify your legal standpoint. hth x fm

Just managed to get back on here now - was visiting grandad in the hospital. He's looking really well though and charming all the nurses so that's great feel a bit brighter after seeing him.

As for employers - I don't know why they just don't give you a final payment when you are pregnant and boot you out rather than trying all ways to stop you from coming back!!!

I'm going to wait and see what happens at the appeal and if they still say no, think about going down the constructive dismissal route...the thing is though, at end of the day, they don't have to say yes to your flexible hours do they so it certainly is a minefield! They are really awful though - one woman has had loads of personal probs and instead of helping her, they have made her life so much hell, she actually wants to resign!

Actually, I'm sat in my Grandad's art room (they live next door to my mum) on the PC - I'm staying here a few extra few days so that I can visit him in hospital...he paints and has a whole room dedicated to painting and his computer stuff...bless him!

It is part time - they have turned down my request for part time working, so am appealing it. I couldn't face full time - I want to see DS - would miss him tooooooo much if worked full time!
