50mg sertraline have been on citalopram before and a short course of amitripilyne but it didn't agree with me x

Chuffchuff · 11/02/2015 20:47

Don't panic ANLB - for most people the side effects are mild or even non-existent - I was just unlucky Grin. And even then they wore off pretty quickly.

It is nice to speak to other people experiencing going through the same thing Smile

TheCatAteMyTaxReturn · 11/02/2015 23:33

ANLBXX I'd been on Sertraline 50mg since 2009, til the end of last year when its seemed to stop having any effect - was fine until then, worked the best of any I'd taken of except paroxetine, which they don't prescribe much any more.

Hope it agrees with you, and makes a difference for the better for you.

FurryTurnip · 12/02/2015 07:55

I too have woken up nauseous, head spinning and the constant whooshing of blood through my ears. Still, really helps having all you here and knowing it's short term and will all be ok in the end.

ourglass · 12/02/2015 08:21

Sorry you're feeling grim Furry. My jaw hurts so I'm guessing lots of clenching went on last night! I take mine in the morning and find after an our or so I'm a bit high! Feels so weird. Got to wait in for a parcel today but going out for a (soft) drink tonight with a friend and hoping I will feel ok.

FurryTurnip · 12/02/2015 17:58

How are you feeling now ourglass? Hope your jaw has felt better through the day. I've felt much better as the day has progressed and also am feeling a bit of positivity that there could be some light at the end of the tunnel once the meds kick in. Have a lovely and well deserved evening out!

ANLBXX · 12/02/2015 18:50

Am on day 2 and have had waves of nausea do you think it is the tablets? On a plus note got up feeling okay now I am off the amitriplyne. How is everyone else? Have a lovely evening out hourglass SmileWine

ANLBXX · 12/02/2015 18:51

Sorry I mean ourglass x

teawomen · 12/02/2015 18:55

I'm day ten. Had a good day yesterday but today not too good. (Not my worst by any means) a bit anxious hoping they start settling soon. Can't remember his first time I was on them.

ourglass · 12/02/2015 20:36

Yes I've had the nausea, it's horrid. Day 3 for me and this is the first day I've even eaten a meal.

I've got to be honest, I didn't go out with my friend tonight. I was feeling so peculiar and spaced out I just couldn't face it. She's coming over instead tomorrow morning so at least I will be more relaxed in my own house.

Seeing GP tomorrow afternoon, obviously still feel the same as they haven't kicked in, so wonder what we'll actually be talking about? She was quite worried I was suicidal on Monday but I wouldn't do that to my kids or DH.
Sorry in rambling.

Hope everyone is ok Thanks

ANLBXX · 12/02/2015 21:22

Is there anything we can buy for the nausea? Or can the doctor prescribe anything? I really want to carry on with them and not give up Sad I am sorry you are not feeling great with them ourglass xx

FurryTurnip · 13/02/2015 09:00

Sorry you also have the nausea ANLBXX I am on day 3 and still have it, plus tinnitus in one ear. And had the clenchy jaw thing last night too, might start ticking them off on the list of side effects! It is hard going but I am trying to look beyond this next few weeks. Not sure if there's anything to take for nausea but do try to eat something even if you don't feel like it, it definitely helps.

TheCatAteMyTaxReturn · 13/02/2015 09:06

ANLBXX 4Head, you know the menthol stuff for headaches? That helped for take the edge the nausea for me. Wouldn't suit everyone, IDK - might be worth trying....

good luck ANLBXX, FurryTurnip, still 'tapering off' here SadConfused

ANLBXX · 13/02/2015 09:40

Had a terrible night last night so have halved tablet this morning and I have eaten a little I must persevere for the long term effects x

FurryTurnip · 14/02/2015 09:55

How are you feeling today ANLBXX? Hope halving your dose has helped. x

ANLBXX · 14/02/2015 10:12

Thankyou for asking furryturnip have woke up feeling much better no nausea! So will keep on halved dose for a few days and then increase it. How are you feeling? X

FurryTurnip · 14/02/2015 14:08

That's good news. My nausea has gone too, have eaten like a pig today to make up for lost time! Totally wiped out though, feels like a dreadful hangover, and irritating tinnitus, but still not as bad as expected. X

ourglass · 14/02/2015 20:22

I've drank a bottle of red. Why.

TheCatAteMyTaxReturn · 14/02/2015 20:27

To take the edge off things?

ourglass · 14/02/2015 20:40

I suppose so. Couldn't help myself. I feel ok, but I know it will end up making me cry.

I had a follow up with the GP yesterday and she gave me two more weeks worth of 50g Sertraline. I still feel the same, low and shit but it's obviously going to take a long while to settle down.

TheCatAteMyTaxReturn · 14/02/2015 22:17

Don't feel bad about it. We've all done it, and got through it.

Hope you feel better in the morning, and you moods begin to lift a bit as time goes on.

Sleep well.

ourglass · 15/02/2015 07:01

Thank you Flowers
