Sorry just seen your lsst comment. U should get gp appt. mine prescribed tablets and then said I was to go back in 2 weeks

Buddhasgirl · 30/10/2014 21:19

This is my 4th week, I was back at gp on Tuesday there when he upped my dose. I have no appetite either, barely eating at all but don't even feel hungry. I do feel a bit better but that's what's confusing me, I'm 'different' now?!

Willfeelbettersoon · 30/10/2014 22:02

Nat that's good you are on the Complan. I have it too because I'm already slim and have lost weight. I like the strawberry one. I do find it helps. Keeps your strength up.

Buddha would it help to explain to your dp that with the sertraline things often do get worse before they get better and that would explain why he thinks the meds are causing you to be more moody etc.
You could ask your gp for referral for counselling and that could be bit of support for you.

Chuffchuff · 30/10/2014 22:47

Hi how's everybody doing? Not had the chance to post for a few days, hope everyone's ok Smile

nat I've been reading back over the last few posts and you do come across as much calmer Smile.

I would have thought your GP would have referred you for counselling but I guess that depends on if you disclosed any underlying problems Buddha. Hopefully the higher dose will start working for you soon. Did the birth go okay? Do you think your depression could be linked to that or is it separate?

The longer this insomnia lasts, the more I'm starting to feel a bit hysterical. I know full well that I won't be asleep before 3 or 4 so I'm likely to feel like absolute shit tomorrow morning. It's so frustrating as I spend half the night awake, then I'm tired in the morning so I sleep (I've got this week off so have been able to do that). I haven't been waking up till lunchtime so I feel like the day has been wasted. I dread going to bed now as I know it's just going to be hours of tossing and turning. When I was at work last week I felt like a zombie because I'd barely slept so I'm not looking forward to going back.

Pandora37 · 31/10/2014 14:16

Has anyone else been having really weird dreams? I tend to have very vivid dreams anyway but when I first started coming off the sertraline my dreams were incredibly odd. Since starting mirtazapine, my dreams have been becoming increasingly horrible. I don't think I'd call them nightmares as such but they're not pleasant. Last night I dreamt I was watching a tower burning down and I could see some people dying and screaming inside. Weird. Confused That combined with the insomnia is rather crap.

MouseandChops1 · 31/10/2014 15:17

That does sound rather rubbish pandora, exhausting too. Poor you, could you take some sleeping tablets for a few nights to at least get some decent rest? My gp gave me some zopiclone and they were a life saver. Really nervous about becoming reliant on them so was careful only to use them when desperate.

How are things going otherwise today?

Starting to feel a little better I think. Managed to go for dinner with a good friend last night and had a lovely time. Still feel low and vacant at times through out the day. Is it normal to have periods if feeling detached/vacant? Hopefully, it will pass

Nat99 · 31/10/2014 15:31

That's so good you managed to get out mouse! :)
I have been having really vivid dreams too pandora, well when I sleep anyway. I fell asleep last night at about 10 woke up at 12 so took my diazapam but still woke up at about 4ish. I don't know if its dp's snoring or the tablets waking me. He said he would sleep in the other room if it would help and he doesnt wake me up, not ideal but worth a try. Walked to doc this morning as nearly out of diazapam and altho he gave me some more he said I need to start cutting them down now as were only temporary. Don't want to be dependent on them but I'm sure the few hours I am getting is only because of the diazapam. He also signed me off for another week from work which I know they won't be happy about but I can't think about that now

Pandora37 · 31/10/2014 16:45

I didn't sleep too badly last night once I actually got to sleep which was about 3 I think. Woke up at 10 so managed to wake up a bit earlier! My GP actually prescribed me some amitriptyline when I first started sertraline to help with sleep but the sertraline worked so well that I never bothered taking it. I don't want to take it in case I can't with the medication I'm on so will have to ask him when I see him. Some sleeping tablets could be a good idea.

It's good you've both managed to get out of the house, I've been terrible for that this week.

ClosedAuraOpenMind · 31/10/2014 20:20

am I being stupid by not just upping my fluoxetine again cos I'm feeling low and flat....
was at the docs today and he thinks upping my dose is the right thing, but I want to try and sort some counselling and try doing mindfulness....although I have had a mindfullness app on my phone for almost three months now and I've never managed to do it yet....and yes the doc did tell me lack of motivation is a symptom of depression

I'm just scared of taking more and more tablets Sad
and what happens when I reach the point where I'm on the maximum dose and can't take any more

Willfeelbettersoon · 31/10/2014 21:00

Chuff how are you?

Pandora I agree getting some sleeping tabs would probably help. You may only need them for a few days to break the cycle. Whilst at the docs mention to him about the horrid dreams. Hopefully they will turn into nice ones soon.

Closed I'm sure you won't have to keep going up and up on the fluoxetine the one increase may well be effective. Unlikely but If you ever did reach maximum dose and they still didn't work it then your gp would switch you to another to find one that did work for you. You are right, CBT or some other counselling is always a good idea as it's proven to be more effective than ads alone.

Nat99 · 31/10/2014 21:13

At least you got a fair bit of sleep pandora so that's one thing at least. I Mentioned about dose to my doc today saying I would rather not to up but he didn't really comment. I thought like closed said, that what if the top dose isn't enough but like you say Well, they would switch you to another. My little boy wanted to go trick or treating tonight so me and oh took him and his cousin just around our estate, was nice to see them so excited :) my next CBT session not until 2 weeks as counsellor is away which is not ideal to be honest. I do wonder is it going to actually work with health anxiety but she reckons it will.

Pandora37 · 31/10/2014 22:57

I would up the dose if your GP thinks you need it. I have to admit, I don't think my GP was very keen on upping me to 100mg after 3-4 weeks on 50mg as he didn't think I'd given it long enough. He did do it though, I think I must have looked particularly desperate that day. Grin I'm glad he did though, I had nearly 4 weeks worth of 100mg and it made such a difference.

I've found I've been dwelling on things a lot more. I've been having dreams about my twat of an ex boyfriend nearly every night which doesn't help either. I had the same kind of thing when I was first on sertraline, I read something about 9/11 and I couldn't stop thinking about what the people must have gone through and how they felt. So that dream I had last night was virtually the same thing. I've got no idea why my brain is doing this to me, I'm not normally fixated on 9/11 Confused. I'm hoping in a weird way that this is a good sign though, as I felt worse before I got better last time.

Willfeelbettersoon · 31/10/2014 23:26

Nat you have really made progress if you were able to do the trick or treating!!

Willfeelbettersoon · 01/11/2014 00:05

Pandora yes it's like the things get worse before they get better scenario and maybe that's why your are having these thoughts. How long you been on the new med?

Willfeelbettersoon · 01/11/2014 00:06

Sorry dreams not thoughts.

Pandora37 · 01/11/2014 12:43

Forgot to say Nat it's great you're having CBT, fingers crossed it works.

I actually got to sleep at 1 last night, hooray! I took my tablet an hour later than normal, maybe that made a difference. I did have a dream that I couldn't stop crying and I was trying to ring the doctor's but couldn't get through, hate those kind of dreams.

I've been on it for 4 weeks will so it's probably about time my dose went up.

Nat99 · 01/11/2014 14:37

Is waking up at night always going to be the case with lustral or will this wear off? It still happens even tho I am taking the diazapam but doctor wants me to stop taking these soon

Pandora37 · 01/11/2014 15:05

I think insomnia is a listed side effect, it might be something that wears off the longer you're on them. They made me really sleepy when I first took them and that did wear off after a few weeks.

carriewintermeadow · 01/11/2014 15:10

Nat I struggled with sleeping also at first, but it did improve after a few weeks.

Nat99 · 01/11/2014 17:56

I think I'd rather they made me feel sleepy than waking up as waking up just gets the horrible thoughts going. :( at my future mother in laws for fireworks with oh and kids. Feel terrible but sticking it as long as I can as not done much at all today apart from thinking which is no good at all x

Nat99 · 02/11/2014 08:00

Sorry for a bit too much information here but eondered if anyone could help. We were meant to me trying for a baby this year even tho I am 40 as my dp had a reversal. I have always been aware since coming off the pill many years ago that I get ovulation pains for a couple of days and other signs I am ovulating. This month I have felt nothing at all and I don't know if I am being silly but should I be worried about this as I always normally have it. It doesn't say anywhere that lustral can affect this and now I am panicking a bit. I know it affects libido but not physical symptoms of ovulation. Is anyone able to help please? X

Willfeelbettersoon · 02/11/2014 21:27

Hi Nat not able to help much on this one as I've only been on sertraline 4 weeks and can't say I've noticed anything different. Although saying that I wonder if sertraline reduces pain and that's why you didn't feel anything.
The reason I am wondering if sertraline reduces pain is that I've had minor surgery twice in the last 6 weeks. The first time I had it done I wasn't on sertraline, it was really painful afterwards. I expected the same pain 2nd time around ( had started sertraline by then) but was surprised how little it hurt!!

I have been noticing a positive difference in my mood last couple days and no side effects at all. This is good. Hope it continues.

Pandora37 · 03/11/2014 17:09

Nat irregular periods are listed as a side effect, but it could be coincidence. I used to get ovulation pains but I don't any more, bodies are weird like that. I hope you don't mind me saying this, but due to your age it might be worth having some fertility or hormone tests done just for your peace of mind.

Will my body obviously didn't get the memo about reducing pain, I still had period pain bad enough to require painkillers on sertraline .

Nat99 · 03/11/2014 18:57

No I don't mind pandora u saying that. The thing is, trying for a baby has really taken a back seat now my health anxiety has spiralled out of control :( i think the absence of ovulation pain was just something else for me to worry about I think. I am
In a state again as I have an upper abdominal and pelvic ultrasound tomorrow. I asked for it, the doctor agreed to put my mind at rest for fears but now I'm in a terrible state thinking what if they do find something even if he has marked it routine. For the last few weeks I have had this small burping issue and that along with all my other fears is crippling me again. My oh said that all my clear bloods should reassure me but then I see on the internet that this means nothing. I feel like I am back to square one today :( sorry for the depressing post x
