Have you talked to anyone about how you feel?

Blackduck · 14/07/2006 21:56

Don't know really - just knew I'd been there in retrospect....talk to some one, see a GP.....

FrayedKnot · 14/07/2006 22:10

I had a breakdown about 8 years ago.

I couldn;t eat (was sick immediately I tried to eat something), couldn;t get to sleep, and would wake really early very anxious, plus several times in the night, with heart racing.

Couldn't relax, and tried to avoid any situation where I had no distraction (e.g. having a bath was hell).

Wanted someone to give me a pill so I could sleep as I was so tired all teh time but couldn;t get any rest.

Eventually when got really bad, became afraid of my thoughts (e.g. semi-suicidal) etc.

No-one realized I was depressed at first because I was having more anxiety related symptoms.

What are you experiencing right now?

Have you been to your gp? My BIL had a breakdown with all the symtoms described on here so far. He was prescribed anti-depressants and had home visits from professionals as he couldn't face leaving the house

hiya
poor u! i have bad thoughts about things happening to my boys, i have 2 an 11yr old and a 10 month old. i get really pannicky now and feel overwhelmed at the slightest thing. i cant sleep through the day and baby doest sleep all night yet, so im constantly tired and emotional. feel down alot of the time and dont know how to deal with it.

Greensleeves · 15/07/2006 21:31

I had a "breakdown" ( I feel daft saying it, but that is what it was) and developed ME/fibromyalgia, and was totally useless for quite a while after I left uni. Like FrayedKnot my symptoms at first were mainly panic and anxiety related, and then everything became very physical, I obviously was very depressed but it wasn't the most obvious thing at the time IYSWIM.

You need to go to your GP and be really frank about everything, and if he'she doesn't listen, change your doctor until you find someone who does listen. And you need to make sure you eat properly, even if you don't feel like it, and try and get as much unbroken sleep as you can.

I know it's horrible . I've read some of your posts and it's not surprising you are flagging.

FrayedKnot · 15/07/2006 22:16

I'm sorry you are feeling like this Tyedye because it's blo*dy awful.

All I can say is, you need to get some anti-d's and fast, unless you are already taking them, in which case you may need to try something different.

Mild depression may respond to other treatment like cognitive therapy but I was way beyond that.

Hope you are getting some help, hon.

I've been through the same experience Tyedye, it's horrible. In fact I'm still recovering.

Practically speaking, if you haven't seen your GP you MUST, they will be able to help you. What sort of support do you have (friends/family etc?)

Sorry you are feeling so bad Tyedye.
Really glad to hear you are seeing HV soon though, as I think she could be a valuable support to you.

Janos · 16/07/2006 21:31

I hopr your HV will be some help, Tyedye. I have to say, despite the bad press they often get on here, my HVs have been nothing but fantastically supportive.

Any possibility of you getting some time out,?

Tyedye - how you doing? Saw a brief post of yours on another thread and was a bit worried. How are you feeling???

quootiepie · 24/07/2006 15:19

Hiya - just read a few of the posts. Im pretty sure I had a breakdown (was never told but it was pretty obvious to me) and was on pills to sleep, diazepam and anti-depressents, but had to stop all due to pregnany, now breastfeeding. Im afraid I cant advise much as Ive not felt normal again after a year and a haf, but ive recently gone on Beta blockers which have toned down the panic attacks. They havent helped with day - to-day stuff like the depression, anxiety etc. but they stop me going over the edge. I tried to help myself, but really its hard without medication or therapy. See your GP... they are usually pretty good.

Oh dear. It's hard isn't it?
What are you going to do?

Lemmingswife · 24/07/2006 17:14

You must get to the doctors about these symptoms you describe, Tyedye.
