I have never posted in this section before but really felt like I need to talk to "someone"
I have always been fairly happy with my life, I have always worked up town and been well paid, am happily married and things were ticking along nicely. Then I fell pregnant with ds - dh and I were over the moon, it was what we had wanted and we had worked out that we were lucky enough for me to be able to give up work when ds was born as his wages would cover our expenses. Things were brilliant Smile
Then - after ds was born - dh went back to work after his PL and was unfairly dismissed Angry he was out of work for 9 months and we had no money coming in, so we had to run up our credit card (which I have never used before) and spend our savings to get by, we started proceedings with the CAB as his company owed us £1,500 in unpaid wages and bonus.
Because of this we had to sell one of our cars as well to make ends meet - then our other car was stolen, with ds's car seat and travel system in it, the insurance company only paid enough to cover the finance on the car and wouldn't pay out for the baby things, so we were left without a car (which meant that dh couldn't get to any interviews he had) and without a pram which meant I couldn't even walk anywhere! Then just after that dh's sister got run over and was in a coma for 4 months - I thought that things couldn't get any worse.
DH eventually got a new job but he had to settle for £5,000 less a year which meant his wages no longer covered our expenses and this is where we are nowSad
I have cut everything down to a bear minimum but our outgoing are more than our income! I can't even claim WFTC because his old firm have not provided a P60.
We heard from the CAb today that our court case for the unfair dismissal has been cancelled because the company have gone into liquidation (so we won't even get what was owed to us there) and to top it all we are expecting our 2nd baby in October ......... we really wanted another but I feel vvv. irresponsible as I am now unable to get a job until after then and we can't afford anything for the new baby - I just wish that I could feel happier about the future.
DH gets paid on 21st of the month and between us we have £5 until then, we have no food in the cupboards at all and my poor ds is running out of clothes! How on earth am I going to provide for the new baby as well, I can't even keep the 3 of us afloat!
Soooo sorry for the rant but I can't seem to admit to anybody in RL how bad things are Blush
Has anyone got any suggestions? It has been the worst 17 months of my life.

M2T, I don't remember filling in any forms when I applied for my WFTC. When I told about our reduction in income they just awarded it automatically based on what I told them it would be for the year. It was all done over the phone. Might be worth ringing again and telling them that you need it sorted urgently.

bossykate · 15/05/2006 08:49

sorry to bang on about this, but i was looking the job seeker stuff again at the w/e (this is on my own account, i am in the process of being made redundant) and as you are pregnant you will be considered as in a "vulnerable group" and may well be entitled to something. i think your best bet would be to to your local job centre plus and investigate. hth and good luck.

Mummy2Toby · 15/05/2006 12:09

Surfermum - were you already claiming some sort of benefit when you changed to WFTC? They can take changes to circumstances over the phone but not initial claims Shock I did ask because I was crying while I was on the phone to the lady, so I assume she would have helped me if she could? but then again maybe not - I will try and call them again today anyway - because the forms haven't arrived!
bossykate - I am going to a playgroup today with ds which is right next to the jobcentre, I will pop in and speak to them about JSA - also my free local paper came yesterday and there are a couple of evening jobs in there, so I am going to call them today and have a chat - so fingers crossed.
Thanks again for all your help

We were on Child Tax credits and child benefit. DH started his own business and our income took a huge dip. When they adjusted our Tax Credits payment we became entitled for WFTC. I informed them over the phone and it was just changed automatically.

Surfermum · 15/05/2006 17:30

Have you already been receiving tax credits?

Mummy2Toby · 15/05/2006 19:32

surfermum - no we have not been recieving anything except for the child benefit of £17:00 per week - I think that is why I have to fill out the forms Blush

Aha! That'll be why then. Hope they get the form to you soon. Don't forget about the maternity grant. Am I nagging?! Don't mean to, it's just I've been in the position of having no money when my xp was made redundant and I just want to help.

JackieNo · 15/05/2006 20:20

M2T - have emailed youSmile.

Mummy2Toby · 16/05/2006 00:06

surfermum - you are not nagging - I am glad that people care enough to try to help me Smile I just hope that the forms get here quickly, we need some help asap.
JackieNo - thank you so much for the email, you are a very kind person Smile

M2T - just to say that I haven't forgotten you. Ds2 was poorly over the weekend. Parcel to go off in the post to you tomorrow.

Mummy2Toby · 18/05/2006 12:33

NQSTM - Please don't worry, you are doing me a massive favour so please don't worry Smile Well - I am pleased to say that my forms came through today from WFTC - only took a week Shock so I am going to be busy filling them out today, I have also been told that because of the dire situation we are in if I take the forms to the local jobcentre, they will be able to fast track the paperwork for me, and then they will be able to backdate any payments for 3 months! so things may be looking up - fingers crossed. On a different note - i am off to the hosptial today as I went to the doctors on Monday about my rash - which I have been told is stress related and he couldn't hear the baby's heartbeatSad so am v.nervous and hoping that everything will be ok at the hospital. Take Care

Mummy2Toby · 19/05/2006 00:27

Hi everyone, just thought I would let you know that the hospital listened for the heartbeat today and found it almost straight away Grin silly doctor shouldn't have even tried if he just wanted to practice on meAngry - have been extra worried since Monday for no reason now - no wonder I have a rash Smile - Thank you all for your kind word again - what would I do without mn.

Surfermum · 21/05/2006 09:53

That is good news M2T Smile.

Mummy2Toby · 23/05/2006 16:26

Hiya - just thought I would update you all.
Things are no better at all - in fact they are getting worseSad dh got paid on Friday and we are already overdrawnShock
I went down to the tax office for them to fast track our claim on Friday but the offices were closed for the day, so I went back again on Monday and they were still closed!! So I have now sent the forms in the post, which will take longer - I still haven't heard from the Council whether I qualify for a reduced council tax rate and a cheque that we were counting on to see us through is now not going to be sent as the company in question have gone bankruptAngry At the moment I feel like the unluckiest person alive - at least I have a happy healthy ds and another bubs due in October - that must be where we are blessed in life Smile Sorry to go on again but thought I would update you all - Thank you everyone for all your kind words and for all your help xxxx

Hi M2T

So sorry to hear that things are still tough for you. Can't believe that you have been struck with more bad luck! Things will improve, but it must seem like it is taking forever. As you say, having your health and your family around you is a blessing. At least hugs are free - hope your ds is into hugs.

Wishing you a speedy end to your troubles, but hoping that you can keep your chin up in the meantime.

Best wishes

NQM

Mummy2Toby · 29/05/2006 22:48

Hi NQM,

Thanks yet again for your kind message - this board is all that's keeping me going at the moment Smile Still no word from any of the benefits office Angry I am still trying though, everynight I lay awake racking my brains for ideas to pull us out of this mess! Keep thinking that I might win the lottery - then realise that first I need a £1 to be able to play it Grin
