Please make sure I talk to the doctor tomorrow

I am going to see my gyne. tomorrow and desperately want to talk to him about the fact I may have PND. It is a bit difficult as he does not speak much English and I do not speak much German and I am not sure if I will go through with it.

for months and months I have thought I was just being utterly useless, but I took the Edinburgh assessment and scored 23.

Please can someone make sure I come back on mumsnet and say if I have talked to him, because that might help me to do it. I don't have anyone in"real life" who can help. Would really appreciate it.

So sorry for not updating everyone, I was feeling crappy and I didn't think that anyone would notice Thanks for the concern.
I did try to talk to the doctor, but he was very dismissive, and I just felt like a total fraud. He told me to have courage and things would improve as dd gets older.
In other words "pull yourself together woman"

Ho hum. Not sure what I will do now, just get on with things I guess.

Thanks again, I was really surprised and touched by people caring.

I have three more options:
a) Speak to village doctor
b) Phone health visitor
c) Find a private therapist-type doctor

Going to start with either a or b. Probably have to go to village doc anyway, for something else.

Will keep you updated, even if you have all given up on me

Id go private if you can. Ive just found an English speaking dr and it is making the world of difference.

Are you in Germany? I can't think of the name of the appropriate specialist, but what you need to do is just go in to your village doctor and not particularly try to explain/get him to understand, but just say (in a frank and direct German way) that you need a referral. At least that's my understanding of how the German system used to work 15 years ago - the 'village doctor' actually deals with far less than a UK GP does, much more is dealt with by specialist doctors, who are not hospital based.

SL - well done on finding an English-speaking doctor! For me dealing with medical stuff is absolutely the hardest thing about living abroad.

roisin - that is great advice, thankyou. Actually I am in Switzerland, but I think the same applies here.
