I am getting back into fasting again and fancied a bit of support. I do a fair bit of 16:8 but after indulgent holidays I do a few 24 hour ones to reset me again i.e from dinner one night to dinner the next.
I'm doing one from dinner tonight so anyone else fancy joining in. Everything is easier with a buddy.

For those not losing weight - my advice would be hang on in there! My experience is slow loss and relatively steady, albeit some weeks I have no movement and then a couple of pounds off the next. But month by month, it does go down. If you are enjoying the pattern, and feeling better then stick with it. If no loss after a few weeks, then maybe look at tweaking.

QuinoafromKew · 26/08/2026 12:47

Exactly what @BoilingHotand50something has been my experience too. It did make me laugh though as I read the last bit as f no loss after a few weeks, then maybe look at twerking. Must wear my glasses more!

My go to tweak is a 24hr fast as that seems to get things moving again. Well done all with keeping going.

I've lost 2 pounds since Saturday! Weighed in this morning. Very happy, I've fasted every day. I'm into the next stone down now, 18 pounds lost since I began fasting.

Edited to put in correct number!

QuinoafromKew · 26/08/2026 15:09

Well done @OnlyGreenClothes you deserve that success and such a milestone to drop into the next stone.

Hi, may I join? I begun 18:6 about a week ago for weight loss and insulin resistance. I am not hugely overweight- my BMI is 25- but it's all round my tummy after menopause.

I am veggie, but I eat eggs and dairy. Finding it hard to cram enough protein in 6 hrs. Chat GPT has suggested protein powder. I hate it but I guess I have to try.

QuinoafromKew · 29/08/2026 01:41

Welcome @friedaklein
Finish off meals with a greek yogurt and chia seeds for an easy protein boost?

OP posts:
friedaklein · 29/08/2026 07:50

Thank you! Didn't think of chia seeds, thanks.I like them. I like all seeds and nuts.
I fell off the wagon yesterday and broke my fast for a meal with DH after a movie.

May I ask how long it took you all to lose any weight?

BoilingHotand50something · 29/08/2026 11:36

@friedakleinaccording to my app, I have lost 2 stone, 2 lbs this year. I think it is more than that as I don’t tend to go on the scales when I am at my heaviest (burying my head in the sand!). So very slow and steady. So officially just under 1 lb a week but in reality probably about a 1 lb per week. But very much in fits and starts.

QuinoafromKew · 29/08/2026 11:54

I have lost over 2 stone @friedaklein since I boredom ate in Covid and put on so much weight in a six week period.
In those years I have also passed through the menopause often a time of weight gain rather than lose and am firmly out the otherside.
I now weigh less than I did 22 years ago.

That's amazing @QuinoafromKew and @BoilingHotand50something I would be thrilled with half that weight loss. Menopause has really wrecked my metabolism.
Managed to stick to the fast today though feeling a bit peckish now.

Yesreallyitsme · 31/08/2026 07:02

I weighed myself this morning after 1 month of 16:8 Really pleased to be down 3lbs after all, it took a while to show on the scales but it has happened!
I’ve not been perfect, some days it’s more 15:9 or even 14:10, but I’ve stuck to the principle of not eating between dinner and lunchtime the next day. I’m definitely going to continue and also throw some more exercise into the mix during September.

Can I join?
I've hit my heaviest ever - my issue is totally snacking on rubbish. If you add up what I eat in meals it's quite small, but the evening snacking is what's got me.

I'm 13 stone, and would like to get down to 10 stone, ideally 9 stone.
The first week I lost quite a bit, but then this week, where I've generally been better at not snacking I've stayed the same.
So I need encouragement to stay off the snacks!

Healthier snacks?

Healthier snacks?

I'm trying to snack on nuts mostly, but I can't resist something if it's there and people seem to have the habit of buying me chocolate.

Any suggestion for other healthier snacks?

Apple slices with runny peanut butter

I like apples and I like peanut butter. Not sure of them together!

QuinoafromKew · 31/08/2026 21:26

One of my favourite snacks @MargaretThursday is a sliced apple and Whole Earth Crunchy PB - surprisingly delicious.
I also love Nairns and their multiple varieties of Oat Cakes: Both Marmite and Cheese and onion are delicious alone. Rough - delicious with a little blue cheese. Smooth - with slivers of parmesan and cucumber.
No I don't have shares in the company but I wish I did.

I fell off the wagon yesterday. Or rather crashed. Had a bad day, so I could not sleep and ended up eating a massive bowl of pistachios at 2 am while watching Rivals.
And then had a milky coffee this morning.
This requires SO much self-control. 😥

@MargaretThursday I was probably a squirrel in my last life so I love nuts and seeds. Have zero portion control though.
My other healthy snacks: cheese slices, berries, crackers.
Luckily I don't have a sweet tooth. It's salt I crave.

Yesreallyitsme · 02/09/2026 12:04

Go easy on yourself @friedaklein - it’s just one day. I’m sure that none of us are perfect are 100% of the time!

MargaretThursday · 02/09/2026 18:29

@friedaklein
Portion control is what gets me. I'll think "just a couple" and find I've eaten half a packet.

friedaklein · 02/09/2026 20:00

Thanks @Yesreallyitsme..Back on the wagon today!

BoilingHotand50something · 03/09/2026 07:59

Well I’ve finally dropped my next pound. I have been stuck over August, mainly as I was unwell at the end of July so lost a few pounds quickly during the last week as a result. This wasn’t ‘real’ loss so it has taken some time to see a true loss on the scales. Very happy to be moving in the right direction.

BoilingHotand50something · 03/09/2026 08:00

Funny I am also a squirrel when it comes to nuts. It’s probably the only thing I still struggle to not binge on.

QuinoafromKew · 08/09/2026 08:28

Hello fasting buddies.
We were away but are now back and no plans to go anywhere until the end of the month so focused fasting for the next 2.5weeks.
Finished eating at 7.20 last night so aiming to go through to 7pm tonight.
Anyone else on the wagon today?

OP posts:
friedaklein · 08/09/2026 08:42

I am still on the wagon. Always derailed by weekends when we eat at odd hours. But have not eaten since 3 pm yesterday and will eat at 11 am. My weight is yo- yoing but my clothes seem a tiny bit looser.
You are doing a 24 hr fast @QuinoafromKew?
