I am getting back into fasting again and fancied a bit of support. I do a fair bit of 16:8 but after indulgent holidays I do a few 24 hour ones to reset me again i.e from dinner one night to dinner the next.
I'm doing one from dinner tonight so anyone else fancy joining in. Everything is easier with a buddy.

I have done 2 16:8 fasts since coming home so hopefully have "reset" a bit from my holiday! I am going for a long walk this morning and am going to weigh in to see what I have gained while away! Wish me luck 🤞

QuinoafromKew · 13/08/2026 08:26

Poor Michael Mosley indeed @Headinthecloudsfeetontheground. To be fair he got lost and was alone - I know this area like the back of my hand and will have someone with me both days. That said, I'm going to skip today's walk and DH and I will set out at 8/8,30 tomorrow and be there before it hits 29. Then a picnic, leisurely stroll around seeing my favourite places there, then tube back.
Good luck @OnlyGreenClothes. Keep us posted!

Maintained weight from before holidays! Nothing lost but nothing on. Very pleased with that!

QuinoafromKew · 13/08/2026 18:20

That's great @OnlyGreenClothes. Well done to you - those fasts did their job very well.

Day 2 done yesterday. Whoever suggested 16:8 - thank you. I'm finding it really easy to have breakfast and lunch and then nothing but liquids (no calorie) afterwards.

Well done! I find 16:8 easiest, though I skip breakfast and have lunch and dinner. My fast window is 7pm-11am. Keep going 😊

Hi, hoping i can tag along here!
I have been attempting 16:8 but from reading this thread I realise its as a 'dirty' fast as i will have a cup of tea with milk and 1 sugar during that. Its been working, slowly, but im sort of using it as a vehicle to aid keeping to a calorie deficit too, so its hard to tell if its the fast or the calorie deficit thats driving the (achingly slow) progress! (I keep to around 1500 because I am at the gym 3x a week weightlifting)
Tbh i've been very casual about it, at the weekends I dont do 16:8 at least once because il go to the gym in the morning and I cant workout on an empty stomach!
Eat well the rest of the time, we cook a lot from scratch and aim for good protein levels. Do love a glass of wine on a weekend though!
Any suggestions? Happy to experiment a bit!

morning all x I’ve just extended my fast to 26 hour. Looking forward to my home made high protein quiche egg bake thing at 12 pm. I’m finding that planning my meals really helps me make better food choices. Had my electrolytes first thing I don’t think I could continue my fast without these ( phizz ones I use ) as I’m prone to hangry / dehydration headaches

QuinoafromKew · 16/08/2026 15:23

Good afternoon all and well done on your fasting efforts.
Sorry I have been M.I.A. for a bit - we have had two very social days and fasting and any proper exercise has been far from my mind but DH and I went on a long walk today to get those muscles working and I will be fasting from 7pm tonight until at least 7pm tomorrow if anyone fancies joining in.
How is everyone doing?

Fasted every day 16:8 since I got back. Will weigh in Wednesday to see how I've got on. It's been pretty easy to get back into it.

QuinoafromKew · 16/08/2026 18:02

Great effort @OnlyGreenClothes and I am glad it was pretty easy to slot back into things again. Aiming to finish eating here by 7pm amd then get into the week.

We’ve had a few meals out this week and days when I decided not to fast due to busy days in boiling hot weather. I find it fascinating that on days I eat breakfast, I eat way more at my other meals too. Looking forward to a week back on the 16:8. Hoping to shift another 1lb this week.

BoilingHotand50something · 16/08/2026 21:05

Well done @OnlyGreenClothesgetting back into it.

BoilingHotand50something · 16/08/2026 21:07

@QuinoafromKewimpressive step count. My focus this year has been weight so far, but I am now making very slow tentative moves toward exercise beyond slow walks with the dog which is all I have been doing. I need to take it steady due to some health stuff but it’s the first time I have felt motivated in years. No way could I walk that many steps though so am in awe!

BoilingHotand50something · 16/08/2026 21:09

@Thundertoastit sounds like you are doing all the right things in terms of balance. My weight loss has been super slow but I am happy because I haven’t felt like I am dieting and I don’t let it rule my life. I feel like I will just eat like this now so if I steadily lose weight down to my healthy range, I will be happy. What do you want to achieve more than what you are doing currently?

BoilingHotand50something · 16/08/2026 21:11

@cremebrulee972i hadn’t thought of electrolytes. I should maybe have done that in the heat this week rather than mess up my routine. I have never deliberately fasted for as long as you are doing but sometimes I feel like I could as I just don’t seem to get hungry.

BoilingHotand50something · 16/08/2026 21:13

@Headinthecloudsfeetonthegroundhow are you getting on? Still enjoying 16:8?

Sorry for all the individual posts but haven’t got my head around who is who so need to check who I am talking to! Hope everyone else is doing ok.

Thank you - yes, still going well and have lost two pounds in less than a week so happy with that.

QuinoafromKew · 16/08/2026 21:35

I couldn't have walked that far when I started either @BoilingHotand50something. I remember the first time I went out with the purpose of walking for exercise I managed 40 minutes and 1.5 miles but I built up from there. I did a few events and am now getting into proper hikes. Hope it's not TMI but I can feel it in my right hip/butt cheek tonight so it's not without some effort😂
Anyway tomorrow is a brand new day so we will see how I feel and🤞🏻I'll be out pounding the pavements with my chum tomorrow eveing.

sweetchill · 16/08/2026 22:46

Hi all, kids now back in school so I’m easing myself back in, have had a couple of 18hr fasts the last few days. Tonight dinner was late though so didn’t stop eating until 8 and had a milky tea about 9. I’m feeling very unattracted to green tea in the morning at the moment, which is what I used to drink in the morning when I fasted in the past, would like to build the habit again as I enjoy it once I have it. All going well I’ll not eat until lunch tomorrow, do a few more of those and try a longer one this time next week.

This for me too. It doesn't feel like I'm on a "diet" when I do this. It's a lifestyle choice.

Yesreallyitsme · 17/08/2026 07:29

Loving this thread. Slow and steady is also what I am after, so hopefully I’ll see a small loss when I weigh in at the end of the month. @BoilingHotand50somethingi also am looking to up my exercise. I do average 13k steps a day according to my garmin, but need to add some cardio and strength. Not planning on doing loads, but definitely want to factor in something as I feel mentally so much better with more movement.

I also need to stop cramming ice cream in at 7.45pm each evening 👀

QuinoafromKew · 17/08/2026 22:19

Fast day successfully navigated and a lovely dinner to break it after a walk with my friend.Only 17000 steps for the day so not long but every step helps.
You are all right - it is a lifestyle not a diet.
Happy fasting!
