5-week fasting countdown to September

Starting on Monday 31 July I'm going to do a five-week accountability thread. Five weeks will get us to Monday 4 September and the start of term. I would be very grateful for company along the way.

Requirements
Every Monday, check-in with:
A measurement from the scales or tape measure.
Your fasting schedule e.g. 16:8 or 5:2 or OMAD.
Progress to date during the challenge, e.g. 1.5lb lost or number of plant-based foods eaten etc.

In between Mondays we can offer support and companionship. Even if I'm the only committing, I'd appreciate some encouragement if you happen to click on the thread.

(This is inspired by the successful thread by @waistchallenge, www.mumsnet.com/talk/weight_loss_chat/4835460-5-week-intermittent-fasting-challenge?page=1).

Hi everyone

starting weight 75kg
week 5 check in 73.5kg

lots of fluctuations in these 5 weeks but a total loss 1.5kg which I am happy with. I've been doing 16:8 mostly but have had quite a few meals out and the last 4 days not fasted at all as have been away.

overall the weight loss has been due to calorie deficit and I eat a bit less when I fast (although not so much at the start). I do feel I have more energy when I'm not fasting.

@LucyWardrobe i can't comment on sleep as my kids wake us up at least twice in the night but maybe someone can help. If you are waking due to hunger can you shift your fast hours to be a bit later or maybe have a filling protein meal as your last meal?

@Peae im sorry things have been so stressful. Fingers crossed for a better September 🤞

Well I lost one kilo. One. Uno.

I’ll join in with the next one, I’ve had no routine whatsoever this month but my routines are getting back in place now so that should help.

@Peae I'm so sorry to hear about the unexpected job loss - I hope you're OK and something else comes up quickly.

Sorry to be late to weigh in. Was generally going well for the first half of the month, but then a fortnight of COVID meant I stopped fasting and restricting carbs, and the ongoing tiredness means I have been eating all sorts of things. So I am finishing this thread 0.8kg heavier than I started it! 😆Back of the class for me, I think. Back onto the fasting bandwagon, and September will be better!

@Peae sorry to hear about your job loss. I've had stuff going on too and have ended up just 1lb down after all.

However I know this can work for me. But emotional glitches will happen. I'm waving my son off to uni, coping with a terminally I'll parent and horrible loneliness tbh. So I'm being kind and appreciative of no gain!! A pound is a pound lol

Where do we go from here? (Is it down to the lake I fear?)

Peae · 06/09/2023 09:21

Argh! I just lost a long post. I'd replied to individuals, but basically I was saying how much I appreciate your company and reading about your stories and struggles. Weightloss is so much more than "just eat less".

Sorry all- I have still been fasting but haven't logged on here with the back to school chaos.

Are we going to do another thread? I still have a stone to lose!

Starting weight (June) 13st 3lbs
Current weight 12st 2.6lbs

Total loss- 14.4lbs!

I've found I fall off the wagon at the weekend but by Weds/Thurs each week I can pretty much have one big meal a day mid afternoon which seems to work well. I have also been having milk in my tea again which hasn't affected my loss.

It may be worth adding that I am now 7 months postpartum x

I will weigh tomorrow, fingers crossed after a weekend away . Focusing on my beach holiday in dec to spur me on !
how is everyone doing ?
