Anyone else starting afresh in the coming days? I've dabbled in 16/8 in the past but then got a tummy bug and didn't restart.

I'm now the biggest I've been in 10 years and am keen to start taking some action to make me feel healthier and to lose some weight. 👋🏻

Aside from 16/8, I'm going to be reducing my carb intake (although still eating some) and ensuring I eat more fruit and vegetables.

Hello to any others who may be keen to join. I'll be weighing weekly on a Monday and using the Zero app to track my fasts.

Be kind to yourself @Wearethetwirl - 3 slices isn't that bad, is it?

It's a new day tomorrow, don't beat yourself up over it. Maybe you just needed carbs today - and that's ok. 🤷‍♀️

Hope you feel better tomorrow @Whoateallthechocolate - gotta do what you gotta do.

Tomorrow is a new day. May skip breakfast tomorrow and just have a black tea!

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 05:35

Do any of you ladies do the 14 hour fast instead? I've read a bit about that being better for women. I only ask because I had such a measly dinner last night and regret it as as feel shaky and headaches already so feel like I might quit at 9 this morning. It will make me feel better if I know 14 hours is actually not that lame or a waste of time. Note to self: more protein in the last meal of the day!!

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 05:53

@LadyMcLadyface @ladybranstonpickle how are you getting on? I noticed we are the same start weight and goal weight so would be good to see if i should be losing more/less etc

LadyMcLadyface · 19/01/2021 08:16

@namechangefail2020 hey! I apparently lost 2kg but not sure I trust my scales because I don't really feel like I've lost anything Confused I've been doing 16:8 since 8th Jan with one blip (chocolate buttons last night 🥺) and generally feel good, less bloated and hungry than before, but I'm generally trying to cut down on refined carbs/sugar and notice that when I have more of those it makes the last few hours of much harder. So yeah some ups and downs and no drastic changes but I'm trying to remind myself this is a long-term thing and not get demotivated.

LadyMcLadyface · 19/01/2021 08:17

The last few hours of the fast I mean.

Welshgal85 · 19/01/2021 08:47

Not feeling great today, did my weekly weigh in yesterday and I’ve put on a pound and a half! Not sure how as I’ve eaten pretty healthy and done a few online workouts. I know it’s not much to put on but still feel a bit frustrated. Must redouble my efforts!

ladybranstonpickle · 19/01/2021 08:54

hi namechange! sorry for silence, I've started back at work after mat leave so it's been a bit busy.

I'm still doing 5:2 alongside 16: 8 but really struggling to get calories below 700. I am breastfeeding so I think that's ok.

I'm ok, down 1.6kg since 4 Jan, although there's been some fluctuations over the weekend. I'm using Happy Scale and think the smoothing is great - really inspiring despite the small ups and downs in weight!

I haven't been doing 16:8 on weekends as my baby eats breakfast with us so I like to eat too.

Anyone doing 5:2 as well? Today is a FD - then Wednesday the next one.

anothermadamebutterfly · 19/01/2021 09:06

Can I join? I have been doing 16:8 for a few weeks now (started soon after Christmas). This past year was not good for my weight, and was a bit shocked about what had happened when I got on the scales again in December after boycotting them for a while. I have done 16:8 before a few years with good results. It suits my lifestyle as I do not bother much with breakfast anyway.

I am 5 ft 4
Started at 11 st 10 (dec 27)
Now 11 st 4

If I could get to 10 st it would be amazing.

anothermadamebutterfly · 19/01/2021 09:11

Hah, so confession, my fast is dirty! Anything to make it feel more exotic and interesting to myself, I guess Grin (this is the sad life I have at the moment). I have two cups of tea with milk in the morning as otherwise I cannot start the day. But nothing else until lunch, which could be any time between 12-14 (depending on work/family/children's online classes routine) and then dinner any time between 6-9.

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 09:20

@LadyMcLadyface oh well done, I bet you will start to notice soon that's great. Yes I've cut out the refined carbs too and it makes me less hungry definitely.

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 09:27

@ladybranstonpickle you're doing great. I couldn't do both, although I'm breastfeeding more than you so I think I need to make sure I'm eating enough. That's a lot of willpower you have.

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 09:28

@anothermadamebutterfly I'm about to do the same. Done 14.5 hours but I have to cave... dirty tea for me

anothermadamebutterfly · 19/01/2021 09:29

dirty tea really is spicing up my morning's work

ladybranstonpickle · 19/01/2021 09:40

Oh, its a dirty fast for me too! My husband makes me a cup of strong tea to have first thing while feeding the baby (it tastes like nectar! Grin, then I have a coffee - I've been having americano with hot milk (21 cal) but today my husband forgot and made me a skinny latte (100 cal) so enjoying that instead. Other than that I don't eat anything until at least 16 hours into the fast.

Not sure its willpower, more vanity! I have all these lovely work trousers and skirts that don't fit - don't want to buy new and need to slim into them by April when we are likely to go back to the office!

LadyMcLadyface · 19/01/2021 09:42

@ladybranstonpickle Happy scales is fab, I use it too 😊

@namechangefail2020 I did stricter low carb high fat last year and lost weight quickly but I didn't manage to stick with it so guess that says something, hoping to find a good balance with IF and moderate low-carb so fingers crossed!

OchonAgusOchonO · 19/01/2021 11:04

Same. Except it's tightness, rather than vanity for me Grin.

feliznavidad2 · 19/01/2021 16:32

Just did a presentation which I've been dreading. Celebrated by using up left over filo pastry to make an apple strudel.

🥴 It seemed a good idea at the time. I'll make sure to divvy it up in to appropriately sized portions.

Hi, just checking in for my second day. Hope you don’t mind but if I write it down and share then I hope it’ll help me stick with it.
Today I felt ok and had planned my dinner (chilli and rice) so I decided to try the fast 800 today and have finished the day with a consumption of 813 calories. I think I’ll try and stick to 16:8 but also two days of 800 calories.
It’s not been as hard as I thought as I’m filing up with water and tell myself that I can eat soon.
Can I ask how many of you restrict calories on a normal 16:8 day? Yesterday I had about 1700 calories (which for me is low!)

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 21:52

@Skinnydecafflatte I was doing 1200 but I upped to 1400 (ish) and will exercise the 200 off if that makes sense?

namechangefail2020 · 19/01/2021 21:52

@feliznavidad2 ooooh now I need this dessert! Yum!

ladybranstonpickle · 20/01/2021 09:27

Morning all! FD2 of the week today. Tummy just rumbled but hopefully my coffee (Americano with hot milk 21 cal) will stop that.

Butternut squash soup for lunch and will try my hardest to resist the delicious fresh bread my husband picked up this morning Hmm.

No movement on scale really...maybe it's too early in the week.

How's everyone doing?

ladybranstonpickle · 20/01/2021 09:29

@Skinnydecafflatte I was restricting too quite heavily but then read that it can be counterproductive. So back at around 1600-1700 which is my maintenance amount. Will see if that has a positive impact and readjust from there if necessary.

anothermadamebutterfly · 20/01/2021 12:39

Good morning all. Morning fasting has been fine (I have been on Teams with camera on since 8:30, which made it easy as snacking was not an option!). Only one dirty tea. Salade Nicoise for lunch, a favourite of mine as I love anchovies.

@ladybranstonpickle Butternut squash soup sounds so delicious! Enjoy.
@wearethetwirl Pizza is so difficult to resist. Here's to getting back on the bandwagon!
