Anyone else starting afresh in the coming days? I've dabbled in 16/8 in the past but then got a tummy bug and didn't restart.

I'm now the biggest I've been in 10 years and am keen to start taking some action to make me feel healthier and to lose some weight. 👋🏻

Aside from 16/8, I'm going to be reducing my carb intake (although still eating some) and ensuring I eat more fruit and vegetables.

Hello to any others who may be keen to join. I'll be weighing weekly on a Monday and using the Zero app to track my fasts.

Hello everybody! I have been shamefully absent recently, no excuse, was just a bit overwhelmed in general and took a bit of a break from social media/mumsnet.

Good to see so many positive stories here, and welcome to all the newbies! I had a bit of a lapse for a few days/week over Easter, but am now returning to 16:8. I am not getting on the scales just for now, but I had a very positive experience earlier today trying on some summer clothes. Most importantly, my favourite pair of shorts not only fit, but actually look more or less OK (just have to sort out some very hairy legs Grin).

I have not been doing so well on the couch to 5k - I was finishing off week 6 and then sprained my ankle (gardening, of all things - I always thought that was a fairly safe activity!) and had to take a few weeks off. I am now thinking I will have to restart on week 5. At my rate, I will be lucky if I mange to finish the program this year.

Hope you are all having a good weekend.

Hi all so I finally weighed myself and I've lost 2 stone since January 🙂 I would like to lose another stone as I'm at the higher end of my weight range. I am just going to keep on doing what I've been doing and start exercising again as I've not done any for a month.

feliznavidad2 · 11/04/2021 22:28

I've been AWOL... currently in the err early stage of TTC and think I got a bit swept away (with copious chocolate and crisps included.)

Back with my tail between my legs until we get lucky.

@PeacheyPeach that's amazing!

@anothermadamebutterfly welcome back too - glad to hear your clothes were comfier, and the hairy legs can be easily fixed!

Hi to anyone else who has joined/has stuck to this far better than I have.

Onwards and upwards, I generally find my first two days back on it hardest. Also thinking I may post food diaries for the next few days as a bit of accountability.

Can I join too? This week I'm breaking the fast with a protein shake at work. Today about 2PM as I was snacking late evening. Then a healthy meal about 6PM.

LifeinPieces21 · 12/04/2021 12:15

I've not weighed myself. Going to do that every Wednesday.

Ohmyzebra · 12/04/2021 22:36

Hi! I’m a week in now. Haven’t weighed myself yet. Just concentrating on getting my body reacclimatised to fasting. I think it’s working because I actually got to 20 hours today before I realised I hadn’t eaten. I was busy at work and just totally forgot to eat my lunch until then. Quite a difference to my usual way of being starving hungry by 12.

@PeacheyPeach 2 stone is fantastic! What pattern have you been doing? I love a success story to spur me on.

The lighter evenings are so good. I managed to get my youngest in bed tonight by 7:30 and still had enough daylight to take the dog for a long beach walk. If only it wants quite so cold!

Smile3 · 13/04/2021 20:10

Oooh glad I found you lot Smile I have been doing 16/8 for 5 days now and going good. I'm suprised how well it's been I usually wake up grab a coffee or 3 but that's taken away and I just grab my water. How as everyone got on has anyone lost a good amount? Looking for inspiration x

Smile3 · 13/04/2021 20:23

@peacheypeach I have just been reading through and missed you said u lost 2stone, that's fantastic is that doin the 16/8? What calories and what sort of thing you eating during the eating window? Thanks and hello!

LifeinPieces21 · 14/04/2021 10:14

I went to weigh myself this morning and I need to put new batteries in the scales so will do it tomorrow.

I'm properly starting today. Got my water bottle and will make a black coffee soon.

I will read the thread properly tonight.

Have a good day everyone.

TheThermalStair · 14/04/2021 11:40

I'm new! Can I join? Started yesterday in earnest although been doing something similar in a less organised way for several weeks (breakfast around 11.30, stop eating around 9.30) as it matches my preferred way of eating. Ironically now I'm doing it properly I'm thinking about food more and feeling hungrier! Have downloaded an app on the recommendation of another thread and hopefully that'll stop me constantly clockwatching.

Plan is to do 1-9 as unfortunately due to work we tend to eat late. Have also started cooking healthier stuff and - shock - saying no to offered chocolate.

TheThermalStair · 14/04/2021 11:41

Oh - I wanted to ask, I don't have a scales and haven't measured myself (don't even know what I would measure), should I try to do so?

LifeinPieces21 · 14/04/2021 17:32

I don't measure but I have scales.

I'm just doing Pinch of Nom Sausage rolls and going to have one with some salad. That's if they turn out OK as never done them before.

LifeinPieces21 · 14/04/2021 17:33

@PeacheyPeach 2 stone is amazing.

LifeinPieces21 · 14/04/2021 20:51

Didn't like the sausage rolls. Dog going mad because she can smell them and I can't let her have one as there is a ton of onion in them so going in the bin.

IamnotH · 15/04/2021 07:03

Starting today- not tomorrow, today!

I'm 32, 5'2" and been steadily gaining weight all year. My comfortable weight is 9 stone 2 and I've just hit 10 stone. Angry

I have gym membership so plan to combine 4/5 gym sessions with 16:8 to try and shift the extra weight in 6 weeks.

I'm going to do 11-7 which should be OK for me and means I will stop watching TV with a huge bag of crisps and a glass of wine. I'm already hungry this morning Hmm

Tobermory · 15/04/2021 09:57

Morning all. Can I join your 16:8 party? I’ve never tried this as a means of loosing weight. I did really well with SW about 3 years ago. Lost about 3 stone and felt great and somehow stopped watching what I ate and put it all back on again!! So my goal is 3 stone, maybe a smidge more.

I started on Monday and the first days of the week were pretty easy. I was busy at work so no time to feel hungry, ate at lunchtime and by the time I had tea it was 6pm. Today is a different story. I’m not at work and Im very very aware of how hungry I am!!

TheThermalStair · 15/04/2021 11:37

Morning all! I’ve had a busy work morning but now have a quiet period and feel so hungry! Swear to god I wasn’t usually hungry at this time, it’s the knowing I can’t eat.

Is it normal to feel constantly hungry when starting off? Even in the Eating Time yesterday I never really felt full. Is that good or bad?

PeacheyPeach · 15/04/2021 12:13

Hi all so Ive been asked what my pattern is for the day, I usually have a coffee with splash of milk around midday. I don't eat anything until 3pm which I then have a bowl of porridges with seeds and nuts and a teaspoon of Nutella!
Then I will have my evening meal around 8-9 we have always eaten late so this is nothing new for me, in the week I tend to have chicken in some form or other! With salad or veggies and then at the weekend I will have more carbs like on my roast dinner or fries with a home made burger . I also drink 2 litres of water a day and I find this helps me feel fuller!

Tobermory · 15/04/2021 14:55

Went for big walk up a huge hill - felt quite sick going up which I put down to exertion on an empty stomach.
By the time I got home it was 18 hours since I last ate- I really really enjoyed my lunch!!

LifeinPieces21 · 15/04/2021 16:02

Starting today really. Weighed myself. I've got 9 lbs to lose to healthy bmi which is my first goal and then maybe another 7 lbs. I'm using a diary I wasnt using before and going to log food, exercise and alcohol.

IamnotH · 15/04/2021 16:21

Well done!

I had an omelette at 11am, an orange at 2pm and then 3 fig rolls Angry

Jacket potato for dinner just before 6 and then I'm at training with my daughter until 8 so that'll be my last good of the day.

Dreading waking up hungry - planning on going to the gym in the morning to waste a couple of hours until I can eat again...

Tobermory · 15/04/2021 22:02

@IamnotH, fig rolls?
I hope they count as fruit? Otherwise that is a massive waste of a guilty biscuit! Grin

Ohmyzebra · 17/04/2021 08:32

Just checking in. Down 4lbs in about 10 days, so a promising start.
Finding that my appetite is regulating and I’m not as hungry. I might try and do some longer fasts a couple of days a week 5:2 style. I’m so busy at work and not starving, so hoping to find it easy.

Thanks for sharing your routine @PeacheyPeach. I could do with cutting down on carbs I think. I don’t want to go completely without. We have a teenage daughter and I’m weary of her seeing me on diet after diet. My mum was always like that and I’m sure it really impacted my mindset about food.

It’s a lovely day here. Going to stick the enormous toddler on my back and take the dog for a very long walk. That should help burn some fat!

LlamaofDrama · 17/04/2021 08:37

Hi everyone, @PeacheyPeach wow for 2stone!

I've been away for 4 days seeing family and friends we've not seen for months (thanks Covid) and couldn't 16:8. Back on it as soon as we got home and when I weighed myself I'd not put any back on. Weighed myself this morning and another 1.5lbs gone Shock. I'm now 3lbs from the top of my goal weight range and, importantly, I was happy to come back to a 16:8 pattern.

It seems odd to like it, when it's murder waiting for 11.30 to start eating, but it does work well for me. I get a bit anxious when I have plans for the day that will make it harder, but as life gets more interesting I'll get used to that.

So for all those new to this, it does seem to work and it's ok! I hope it's as successful for you as it seems to be for me.

ladybranstonpickle · 19/04/2021 08:57

Morning all! Took a week or so off - baby's nursery was closed so was looking after her combined with ad hoc childcare from my parents.

I did a couple of fasts including skipping dinner a couple of days after a large lunch. Felt surprisingly easy! I haven't weighed myself though...

Good to see all the new names, and sounds like people are making excellent progress! I'm really enjoying my black coffee currently - @LlamaofDrama I know exactly what you mean, I've been looking forward to today's fast all weekend!
