If anyone would like to join for online support. I have over eaten throughout lockdown and I need something to change. I'm going to fast for 16 hours and eat for 8. Will calorie count a little too but will pick up healthier stuff next time I do a food shop in the next few days. I am literally feeling so big :(

I'd like to join in please. I've started doing it these last few days but not sure if I'm doing it right really, will you do it every day?

Ilovethewild · 09/05/2020 22:40

I’ve been doing it through lockdown, happy to join, I’m relatively new to it... 😁

Hugglespuffed · 10/05/2020 11:44

Great to have people on board! Yay. I think I'll aim to do it every day but haven't decided yet... I just got a bit fed up with my summer clothes feeling a bit tight so needed to do something. I last ate at about 8:30 last night so going to start eating at 12:30 today, I think I'll aim to eventually eat between 12 and 8.

I am trying to use up food I already have in so will have crumpets to break my fast. I need to defrost my freezer so will eat a mix of batch cooked meals/ freezer easy foods (potato waffles) and then do a fuller healthier shop once that is done.
I'm feeling ok this morning albeit a bit hungry now! I am going to drink plenty more water too.
I just think it is useful to have other people on board and if we discover any tips then share them?! 😊

I was just thinking about doing 5:2 this morning but you may well have inspired me to get going with 16:8 😀
Missing the gym.
I was out of the habit of snacking after dinner .... but since lockdown the bedtime snacking bad habits returning... 16:8 would be a good discipline for me.
Thanks.

annabell22 · 10/05/2020 11:53

Me too please. I haven't gained masses of lockdown pounds, but I have gained some and I hadn't got down to my goal before then. Lowest this year was mid-Feb.

I fasted from 8.30 last night until 2.30 today, when I had a smoothie with unsweetened almond milk, an apple, frozen berries and a half tsp of agave nectar to take the edge off the tartness. I have refused DH's offer to make me a hot chocolate with the frother on his fancy coffee machine and didn't make tea and biscuits my first post-fast meal, for once!

I am working from home and within touching distance of the kitchen all day long, but I am strong and I can do this.

Hugglespuffed · 10/05/2020 12:10

Happy to have you on board, the more the merrier.
@HeartZone I've never tried the 5:2. I'm not sure I'd be able to cope with the lack of calories on the fasting days but I wouldn't rule it out in future! I hope you like this, I find it quite easy to follow as you are asleep for a chunk of the fast.

Well done @annabell22 whereabouts do you live? It is 12:10 where I am at the moment and I'm looking forward to breaking the fast! Well done for lasting until 2:30.

I'm going to go out for a walk this afternoon and I'll pass a tesco express so I will get some fruit when I'm out.

I'm doing 11-7pm as we eat dinner early in this house cos kid age 8 and also my DH has reflux.

I actually started doing it Monday and have lost 7lbs this week BUT not just through fasting I have limited calories too and upped my water and veg intake massively. So I'm pissing out water I guess. I'll take it!

I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow morning and put that on here as my starting weight rather than last Mondays

Juanmorebeer · 10/05/2020 12:15

No wait! Today is the 10th haha!

OK SW is 9 St 9.

Target weight 7st 12.

I'm incredibly short so currently in the overweight category

Fairenuff · 10/05/2020 12:22

I've pretty much switched to this as my normal eating habits so that I only eat if I'm hungry. Lost 12lbs over the last 2 months and it doesn't feel that I'm missing out on anything.

I usually break my fast about 11am (although not had anything yet today) and eat nothing after dinner which could be as late at 8.30pm some nights so I do have a bit of flexibility but it seems to be working for me.

I actually like feeling a little bit hungry. It feels natural to me. I'm letting my body dictate when I need to eat, not the clock or my emotions. It feels like I am really in tune with myself.

annabell22 · 10/05/2020 18:15

@Hugglespuffed I'm in the middle east, moved here for work 2 years ago. We have only just been allowed to exercise outside, but it's 35C and you have to wear a mask. Easier to eat less than try to burn it off!

Ilovethewild · 10/05/2020 18:24

I set up a weekly pattern which seems to work, I found if I am too strict/severe I can’t keep it up.
This is what I do:
Mon- 12-8 (eating)
Tuesday 6-8 eating (low calorie meal)
Wed 12-8 eating
Thurs 6-8 eating (low calorie meal)
Fri am weigh myself- 12-8 eating. Treat day
Sat no restrictions
Sun 12-8 eating

I do drink water and tea when fasting.
Am loosing slow but steady.
Only weigh myself weekly
Have about 4 stone to lose
Am 50+
Walk daily
Crave choc, have ww choc bars as treat.
Eat lots of vegetables, snack on fruit (grapes, apples mostly)
Don’t drink, generally eat ok, but always been overweight.

Thatsanicepear · 10/05/2020 22:01

I'd really like to join in with you all too. I had a baby in January but lost most of my pregnancy weight quickly, only to pile it back on in lockdown. I'd like to lose 1.5 to 2 stone. Not sure which hours to pick yet so this week will be used to work all that out! Good luck everyone.

Juanmorebeer · 11/05/2020 13:51

What's everyone eating today?

longhaulstress · 11/05/2020 16:17

Ooh I'll join please too, I started this on Friday (am doing 11-7) or rather I'm building up to the 16 hours. I managed to do the 16 hours with no food today but broke at 9am to have a coffee. I've read that black coffee is ok but I don't have any in just those cappuccino sachets and I think because they have sugar in it's counted as food that's going to be the hardest thing to give up first thing!
Today at 11am I had special k, chopped strawberries and a strawberry actimel over it instead of milk. Then at 2pm I had some cheese, apple and crackers.
I'm just having a coffee with a cookie now and then I've got fish for dinner.

Ilovethewild · 11/05/2020 18:46

I found stopping breakfast easiest, just have tea. I had ham sandwich for lunch with fruit and doing baked salmon with a few chips and lots of peas for tea. Apple/grapes for pudding.

Ilovethewild · 11/05/2020 18:47

I have set reminders in my phone for starting and stopping eating. It stops me clock watching 😆

Juanmorebeer · 11/05/2020 21:59

I'd been doing so, so well until today and not had a drink or anything naughty. But then tonight I've had a drink (vodka slimline) as I just fucking lost it over the news earlier. So I managed 7 days of 16:8. Today will be more like a 16:10 so then what do I do? Eat later tomorrow? Help.

So if I finish my drink now, 10pm

smarty14 · 11/05/2020 22:16

Would love to join this!

Heard a bit about this and think it sounds (fairly) doable! 🤞🏻

Ladycoo1 · 11/05/2020 22:33

I would like to join I started doing it 2 weeks ago. Not doing it at the weekends. Feel lots better and energetic on fast days.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 11/05/2020 23:13

I started doing this on the 10th of May, I'm really happy to have found a thread of others doing it too.

My fast stretches from 7pm until 11am and that's fine for me. What I'm struggling with is that I've realised that I'm not supposed to have tea with milk... I'm already cheating with that a bit, even though I only drink skimmed. I'm managing my 2 litres of water though.

A poster on another thread recommended BodyFast/Fastic and I really love watching the 'body' fill as the fast progresses.

How is everybody else doing?

Ilovethewild · 12/05/2020 10:37

@Juanmorebeer don’t beat yourself up with this, just accept and go back to your usual pattern. If I am too strict I find it much harder to maintain and I am in this for the long haul. This isn’t a quick fix but a lifestyle change.

Today is my fast day (nothing til 6, when I eat very light), so just test and water today... I last ate, dinner 7pm yesterday. I find staying busy helps, and thinking about the reduction on Friday morning weigh in keeps me motivated.

Ilovethewild · 12/05/2020 10:37

Tea and water

annabell22 · 12/05/2020 11:25

Just checking in - I'm a daily weigher and today was my lowest since I started this, and it has been absolutely all over the place! I've started using the WeightFit app and like the history and statistics you get there.

Yesterday I fasted until 4.30pm and I'm also 17+ hours today so far.

I'm not a coffee drinker and I have peppermint or green tea, so no milk to worry about @LyingWitchInTheWardrobe Would you try either of those? A tiny bit of skimmed milk doesn't matter, I understand.

Juanmorebeer · 12/05/2020 12:00

Thank you. So I did from 10pm to 10am where I broke my fast with a coffee.

So if today I eat between 10am and 6pm is that known as 12:8?

Then tomorrow I can return to my usual window of 11am-7pm but actually I will have initially fasted for 17 hours rather than the usual 16

Juanmorebeer · 12/05/2020 12:02

Today I'm having. A strong coffee with milk. A massive bowl of homemade veg soup, then for dinner tonight will be a spicy chicken stew with rice.
