If anyone would like to join for online support. I have over eaten throughout lockdown and I need something to change. I'm going to fast for 16 hours and eat for 8. Will calorie count a little too but will pick up healthier stuff next time I do a food shop in the next few days. I am literally feeling so big :(

I agree about the satisfaction. I feel like for the first time in ages I’m really hungry for my meals. Also I think if I’m able to do this whilst on lockdown surely it’ll be easier when I’m out and about on work appointments.

Managed my first ever 17 hour fast yesterday - I struggle with even 16 hours and it’ll be 16 hours today but it’s useful to know I don’t die at 17 hours ha. I’m hungry now so I’m going to go and do a work out and wait for the time to pass.

Hope you’ve made it through your work call @Finals1234

Apinchofsalt · 18/05/2020 11:09

I’m really interested in doing this but I don’t know how I’d get on without drinking tea (with milk) first thing - 3/4 cups. If I use the bare minimum or skimmed milk would it still work?

missyB1 · 18/05/2020 11:21

I did 3 months of no milk in tea or coffee in my fasting hours, but then when I read up about it the advice seemed to be that a little semi skimmed milk isn’t going to make that much difference. So now I allow myself the milk, as I have to drink tea when I get up in the morning, and coffee keeps me going until my eating window (12 - 8).

SkeletonSkins · 18/05/2020 11:44

I think you’ve got to do what makes it a realistic and sustainable approach for you. Make a start and have your tea with some milk but start gradually cutting it down, either the number of cups you have or the amount of milk.

Saying that, I drink flavoured fizzy water during my fasts and many say that’s a no no but as I don’t like still water it makes it something I can stick to. To me, doing 16;8 with my flavoured (0calorie) fizzy water is better than not.

Just did my work our and managed two 60 second planks which I’ve worked up to. Soooo looking forward to breaking my fast!!

Finals1234 · 18/05/2020 13:18

@skeletonskins well done for managing a 17h fast, that sounds tough!

I managed my work call, luckily it wasn't too intensive, so I did a lot of smiling and nodding my way through it. I ate at 11am on the dot, which I really needed, but like you it was good to know I won't die at 16 hours!

I didn't go overboard with food and now I am much more relaxed knowing that food is not going to be an issue requiring lots of thinking for the rest of the day.

@apinchofsalt I am also used to drinking 3/4 cups at the beginning of the day, with sweetener and soya milk. I have had hot water + lemon for two days which has surprisingly been ok, but not the same as a nice cuppa. I think I am going to try to go without the teas for now, just till I am more comfortable with 16:8 as I have only been doing this for a few days. Once I see that it is working for me I'll have teas if I really need them.

My bathroom scales stopped working last week, I am waiting for the new ones to arrive hopefully this week, and will be very disappointed if I haven't lost at least half a stone this week. Grin

I have been eating normally but have found that this has really helped to curb my evening snacking at the moment.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 18/05/2020 13:57

APinchofSalt, I'm also having the odd cup of tea with a dash of skimmed milk in it - perhaps 3 in the fasting phase? I'm doing 16 hour fasts but am 3 hours extra today. My ap tells me this:

"As soon as you have fasted more than 12 hours, your fat metabolism really gets going".

SkeletonSkins · 19/05/2020 11:47

I’m on my 7th fast today, pleased I’ve stuck to it for a week. Finally fixed my scales so I know my starting weight properly now (oh god). Did my work out this morning and planning a walk this evening on the beach.

I’m going to have to close my window a bit earlier tonight as I’m meeting my friend at 7 and it would be too late to eat after that. I’m sure it’ll be fine, I’m just a bit worried I’ll get peckish before bed!

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 19/05/2020 12:56

Joining in! I have 2 stone of baby weight to lose, my weight has just plateaued for ages. I’m a size 14 and I want to go back to a 10.

I’m fasting 7.30-12.30, we have dinner late due to baby’s bedtime. Today is day 2 and even though I’ve felt peckish before 12.30, it’s not been anywhere near as bad as I thought it would be. Really hoping this works for me!

MoonBabysMagicalKalimba · 19/05/2020 12:56

Sorry, that should be 8.30pm-12.30!

sar302 · 27/05/2020 06:44

Well, after roughly a week, I am down 2lbs. The number on the scale is still terrifying, but definitely 2lbs less. This is even without fasting at the weekend, and one evening meal of Pizza Hut.
Am definitely continuing this week!

annabell22 · 27/05/2020 15:25

Well done @sar302

Very gradual here - down 1.3kg this month, but it bounces up and down a lot so who knows what tomorrow will bring! Overall the trend is downward and I'm walking for around an hour each day. They have announced that gyms can open here but it's not clear if it's the ones in residential buildings or just the ones you have to pay e.g. Fitness First. Oh, and you still have to wear a mask everywhere at all times!

vanillandhoney · 27/05/2020 16:06

Can I join too please? Smile

Just starting this today as the scales did not make for very pleasant reading!! I need to lose about three stone overall but about one and a half to get me to a "healthy" weight for my height.

Just need a checking in thread to keep me going!

Anthilda · 29/05/2020 15:45

Well, I've gained 2lb. Over the month I went from 10.6 to 10.1. And now I'm back up to 10.3 today.
I've stuck to the ritual of not having anything until it's time to break my fast, maybe one cuppa in the morning with a bit of milk but other than that just black coffee, hot water and sliced, fresh lemon. At times I've done 20 hours but always, always the 16.
This week has been difficult, I've been reaching for stuff that Is quite carb heavy due to being that time of the month and just generally feeling depressed.
I've stuck to my running and incorporated morning yoga (mainly because I need the strech in my sore back).
Those extra calories and wine have caught up with me but I'm still going to stick to it.
I feel I have enough energy when fasting and I'm not a 'breakfast person' so it works for me and I've noticed only 1 tiny spot on my chin this month, whereas usually I have big boils every time I have a period.
I hope you lot are seeing some success.
I am going to keep trying and persist, regardless of the snails pace weight loss rollercoaster.

oneboy3girls · 31/05/2020 11:21

I have lost 3/3 1/2 stone low carbing and am now maintaining. I am fasting 5 to 9.All seems natural and going well. I am also doing this for general health reasons. I can not change the fast window.Anyway I have to have 4 cups of tea/coffee with milk between 6am and 9am.How much detriment will this cause? Is anyone else like this ? Many thanks for any insight.

annabell22 · 11/06/2020 06:56

Anyone else still going? I am, but my weight loss is so slow you really wouldn't notice it all and it bounces back up as often as it goes down! Today I am 1kg less than I was on 16th May and that's nothing to get excited about, really.

lozaa · 13/06/2020 10:43

I've lost 8lb in total since may 10th but noticed ovulation and period I definitely bloat and gain water weight.

Anthilda · 13/06/2020 21:33

Still going and mines the same @annabell22. Down, then a slight peak then down a bit further then steady at a particular weight, then another peak and down again.
Admittedly I could do with drinking more water but I struggle with that. Can easily down cup after cup of black coffee though.

I have stayed at 9.13 but may go back up over the next couple of days because although i fasted from 9pm last night until about 4pm today I have indulged in wine and curry (only meal I've had) plus I had a small chocolate bar and a handful of crisps.

So I have made up my calories in that short space of time.

What I've noticed is when I do lower carb + fasting that's when it drops off.
Keep going all, dont lose heart. We'll get there slowly.

Anthilda · 13/06/2020 21:35

My weight went up by about 3lbs during my period @lozaa, it came back off afterwards.

Hugglespuffed · 22/06/2020 12:09

Hi all, I started this thread and sort of neglected it (as I didn't stick to anything and have continues over eating) my weight is now 12 stone 2. I feel and look so heavy. Enough is enough. I am finally seeing my parents in 3 weeks and I am going to use that as a goal incentive to shift a bit of weight. I am aiming for about 2 pounds a week initially and know it will slow down. I need to exercise too but that it always last on my list. Especially now that I'm back working more (and will be full time from next week!) Luckily I have a couple of portions of veg curry / veggie chilli in the freezer so going to eat up those this week as I need to defrost my freezer, then I will do some batch cooking again and whip up some more healthy meals. Anyone else still doing it/ fancy joining in?

Hello! Was just looking for a live Fast 800 thread to join and there you are @Hugglespuffed Smile

I did this fairly successfully a couple of years ago derailed by life (wedding, travel etc.), so I know it works once you're in the swing of things! I'm currently 12st 3 so about the same. Portion control is key for me, and for that reason I'm going to use M&S ready meals for the first couple of weeks, in a 12-8 window, with a black cold brew coffee to keep me going in the mornings. Also back to Yoga with Adriene and C25k and hearty walks :)
After the first 2 weeks I think I'll be suitably impressive with myself to keep going and cook for myself with an eye to the portions. Bon chance to us both!

Hugglespuffed · 22/06/2020 22:35

Ahh great @ShineBrightly I'm glad I'm not alone!
I am probably going to aim for 1200 cals using my fitness pal loosely but will be doing 12-8 like you so will be good to have someone following similar. Will also try C25k again. I always start it and never finish it. I will aim for that run tomorrow evening as I've got a busy day tomorrow and starting early. I will try to use this thread for accountability. It is great to hear you've had success before. Really looking forward to getting started tomorrow.
Good luck!
