I've got lots to lose, I'm feeling lousy, so heavy, achy and sluggish and I can't bear to see myself in the mirror so I'm making a dramatic change. Losing a pound a week is not going to cut it.

I eat far too many carbs so I think this Mediterranean style of eating and the the drastic cut in calories will do me good. I've read the book, I've stocked up on the right foods and cleared out the crap. I haven't eaten yet but I'll have my first meal soon.

I know that it will be hard going at times but the promise of rapid weight loss is worth a bit of pain.

Wish me luck. I'll update on my progress as I go.

Dinner today; chicken, asparagus, baby corn and sugar snap peas in Thai green curry.
Was delicious but I couldn't finish it as I started to feel sick. Had the same thing at lunch time (which was miso soup, a small piece of cheddar and raspberries with Greek yoghurt), had to stop eating the soup as I thought I was going to throw up. Managed to force the raspberries down but it took me almost half an hour. Has anyone else had this? I'm only on day 2 and otherwise feeling ok... even feeling hungry but can't seem to get all the food down (not a problem I've ever had before!)

@Balloondog Welcome! I felt a bit sick in the first few days and I still do now sometimes if I get too hungry but the first few days are the hardest, I had a banging headache, felt very tired and a bit sick but most of the time I feel really well. Your dinner looks very nice Smile

Balloondog we have a recipe thread and meal planner here With some ideas on.

Balloondog · 26/03/2019 20:06

Thanks @DareDevil223, it's good to know it will hopefully pass...

@thenewaveragebear1983 thank you for the link - I've been looking for a recipe thread but couldn't find one, this is perfect!

AdiosAdipose · 26/03/2019 20:28

Hello - can I sneak in and join you please? Read through the thread and am starting fully in the morning.

The last two days I've kept my calories under 1000 and have had very little carbs as prep for it so I feel ready to start tomorrow.

I have been doing 16:8 or 18:6 for about 6 weeks now and slowly losing some weight but I know my actual diet hasn't been great during this time so combining the too should fix that.

Huge Tesco delivery has just been unpacked so I am fully armed and ready to go!

You have all done so well it's a huge motivation and inspiration to me!

PhoenixMama · 26/03/2019 21:06

Welcome @balloon & @adios! Finished up at 790 today, bit lacking protein (17g) Anyone have good ideas for small protein hits like that?

Catbot · 27/03/2019 08:00

I've lost a stone in less than three weeks! I'm amazed and a bit excited. It would have taken me months and no end of bloody SW merchandise to get this far and I've been trying for years. But I'm only back to the start really because I put on a stone in the last year, so now every pound counts.

I'm using ready meals fairly often with additional veg. I find it helps if I can't think of what to have for tea. And my fall back is a big omelette (3 eggs) with lots of veg and 30g cheese which works out at about 500 cals. M&S have a few that are relatively low in cals and carbs, the best being their chicken tikka with cauliflower rice.

I have found it easier to stick to one bigger meal in the evening with maybe a low cal chicken noodle cup of soup or some celery sticks if I need something in the afternoon. If I had breakfast or lunch I just wouldn't stop! But at the weekend I did try a breakfast 'pancake' made with two eggs and a mashed up banana all combined and it was LUSH! 😀 245 cals. I've been using good old Frylight to save calories on oil.

Gosh, go us!

Balloondog · 27/03/2019 10:28

Wow @Catbot!! That's a fantastic loss!

You're giving me hope... particularly as I've woken up this morning with a sore throat and sniffly nose. In the past I would have just forgone the diet and allowed myself comfort food (mashed potatoes, toast with butter and marmite) as I'm not feeling well but I'm determined not to give up so my only concession is a bowl of soup for breakfast in addition to my usual two meals.

Worlds0kayestmum · 27/03/2019 12:07

You've done brilliantly @Catbot. Well done! I'm on day 3 and finding it hard going today, probably because I have the world's stroppiest 2 year old and I'm knackered. I would usually comfort eat at this point but determined to stick to it and not quit. Waiting for his naptime so I can have lunch and 5 minutes peace to recharge

DownRightAmazing · 27/03/2019 15:46

Week 3 done. 4lb off this week. It's not the big losses of the past two weeks but does bring me to 19lb total loss in 3 weeks. I am planning on sticking to it for another 3 weeks before trying the 5/2 approach but I'm worried about my motivation as the losses slow down :/

I'm trying 'lo-dough' today - low cal/low carb pizza base...

Worlds0kayestmum · 27/03/2019 16:20

19lbs is an amazing loss, well done

GhostBustersFavouriteMum · 27/03/2019 17:18

Hi everyone! Sorry I've been nix on radio contact, life is sometimes nuts you know!

Welcome to all newcomers from me also.

I've caught up with the thread, goodness me what amazing progress you've all made, absolutely fantastic job peeps!

I have finally met my first target after hovering 2lb above it for the best part of 3 days.

DP and I have had our first session with the personal trainer. We had full disclosure with him and told him what we were doing. He was absolutely brilliant. He told us we'll concentrate on movement, using underused muscle groups increasing flexibility and strength whilst we're on 800 calories so that once we're on 5:2 we can do more intense workouts.
He was really up to date with all the latest weight loss research, thinks very highly of Dr MM and what he's doing, and is also really informed on joint problems from rheumatoid diseases. Absolutely epic find! I must admit knead really worried after the information from ... I can't remember who, about being told to eat more cals, but he totally understood and said it would be easier psychologically to do a program which fits 800 cals than change up cals to fit the program. Smile feeling very sunny indeed!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/03/2019 17:56

Ghost you've struck gold to find a PT who'll support you on this, I do find most of the 'sporty' people I know really follow the 'no diets' philosophy and don't like to be seen to be encouraging extreme diets (which a lot of people think this is). I know myself that it's possible to do quite strenuous exercise within the context of this plan, although I currently only do alternate day fasts. My PT seems to think I can just eat til I'm full and then stop- I try to explain to him that if I could do this, I'd never be overweight in the first place!!

AdiosAdipose · 27/03/2019 19:18

CatBot that's a great loss - well done!

I have finished day one at 810 calories which I'm pretty pleased about! Don't feel hungry at all. It's amazing how much you can eat if you take out the carbs. Had a huge spinach salad for lunch and there was so much for my calories!

Ghost - that's great news about the trainer. Did he specifically say high intensity stuff was best avoided on your 800 days? I usually go to a body pump class and a step class once a week and I'm wondering wether to carry on during these first few weeks...

DareDevil223 · 27/03/2019 20:17

Evening all. Ghost sounds like you've had such a positive experience with the PT.

Everyone is doing so well. I am thinking that after this week I am going to do 2:5, so do 800 cals for 5 days and then eat a bit more on the weekend. I'm starting to have had enough of eating so little but I'm a bit scared to relax too much so introducing a bit of extra food on two days seems to be a good way to keep a decent rate of weight loss and easing back into eating a bit more.

Hi all - feeling a bit down in the dumps. Still got this lurgy and feeling rotten. Then I accidentally ate 180cals more than I thought because bloody Pret had labels mixed up. Then without even thinking I popped a wee piece of dd's garlic bread in my mouth. I swear to god in less than an hour I was craving sugar! Haven't craved sugar really since I started and just really cross with myself. Angry

AdiosAdipose · 27/03/2019 20:41

Oh no Phoenix - It's hard when you feel so rubbish.

You've not ruined the day with one piece of garlic bread don't worry! And that plus 180 calories over is still a very low calorie count. Some people can eat 1000 calories in one meal alone me on takeaway nights

Catbot · 27/03/2019 20:58

@Phoenix in the midst of my cold all I wanted was carbs. Don't beat yourself up if you can't stick to the plan for a day. When you feel better you'll be straight back on it Thanks

Butteredghost · 27/03/2019 22:58

Adios it should be fine, I've been doing body attack and combat classes while I've been doing this and haven't noticed any difference to how I feel during the class (don't feel light headed or anything).

MsKhan · 27/03/2019 23:17

Well done to all the amazing losses ! The PT sounds brilliant, I'm jealous Blush

Had abit of a free-eating day today. I had planned to ease up abit while on my period as I tend to feel abit weak and tired when I'm on and didn't want to push myself too hard. Had a tuna subway for dinner (356 calories)... probably came in around 1000 calories today Blush ...

However tomorrow is day 4 of my period and that's usually the time I perk up around so I am planning to go back on track tomorrow especially with Mother's Day coming up this Sunday and no doubt a meal out will be on the cards! What's everyone doing for Mother's Day and how are you planning on managing the diet around it ? I think I'm going to not eat anything all day and save all 800 calories for dinner time.. probably not the best way to do this diet but should be ok for one day hopefully Grin

Tomorrow's menu that I have planned in my head. I'll put it down here so I stay on track:

Breakfast : coconut yoghurt with berries

Lunch : apple and almonds.

Dinner : salmon & veggies.

GhostBustersFavouriteMum · 28/03/2019 07:50

@Adios I don't know if high intensity is an option. His main concern was not pushing me on 800 because of the rheumatoid +800 rather than the calories alone if that makes sense?

I forgot to mention, PT gave us some resistance bands to use on days we don't see him. They're absolutely brilliant! We've got a light for upper arms and shoulders, a medium for core, and a heavy for legs. He basically said to do a little yoga or tai chi using the band's for strength.

PhoenixMama · 28/03/2019 09:23

Thanks for the lovely words. Had an awful night with DD, she's ill too now! Have a mega deadline of Sunday for a project and still full of lurgy! How long is the keto flu supposed to last because it's been a week already!

Will get back on track today but think it will take substantially more will power than it has been. I really don't want to give up just because I'm sick but also not sure I could deal with this for another couple of weeks!

I sadly don't have DD this mother's Day (she's with her dad and I think he's only thought about his partner & their new baby - he's very much of the 'but I'm you're not my mother' attitude when it comes to sorting 9yo DD out! Will probably avoid cafes and go for a walk if the weather's nice.

Very impressed with your other @ghost - worth their weight in gold good ones!

GhostBustersFavouriteMum · 28/03/2019 10:40

@phoenix, I think you're probably not experiencing keto flu ... Sounds like you're experiencing flu flu! We've all just had a real doozy of flu, it was awful! Drink lots of liquid, take a vitamin c/iron supplement, and sleep lots. Xxxx feel better soon sweet xxx

Catbot · 28/03/2019 20:31

@PhoenixMama if you don't feel up to it right now maybe just get yourself well and start again when you feel better? MM says there's evidence that intermittent dieting also works for weight loss, the key is getting right back on it when you can instead of giving up completely.

I must say I've struggled today. Was hungry all day. I had an Atkins chocolate drink at lunchtime and it was vile! And didn't fill me up. I think I need to plan the next week properly so that I stick to the 800 cals.

PhoenixMama · 28/03/2019 20:58

Well a vomiting DD proves @ghost is right! Not hit my protein level and closing the kitchen just over 900 but I'll take it.

I wondered about that @catbot but I haven't found anything that's worked like this for 5 years and so I'm going to see if I can keep going. I'm also desperate to crack 200lbs & only 2lbs to go!
