Thanks yes my old low carb staple is mascarpone with cocoa powder. I need to get some more frozen raspberries.

The syrups are pretty useful though - Walden Farms from Amazon.

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2018 10:13

Wow some great results today!

Primal - 6lbs in 2days Shock and Bear that is brilliant more securely in to the 10s, so good it is all coming together.

my weight is coming down again now - it is scary how quickly I put on weight though. My problem is I can do the diet bit - I just cant do the eating normally and maintaining bit!

PaulHollywoodsSexGut · 25/04/2018 10:14

Bear how many weeks into it are you now?

Oblomov18 · 25/04/2018 10:32

I tried on my summer shorts last week, in our 3 days of summer!, and they were so uncomfortable that I had to take them off!

This is probably because I weigh a stone more than when I last wore them! Sad

I was discussing with my best friend, yesterday, who is also a BSD'er, how hard it is to actually lose weight, and how easy it is to put it on.

PrimalLass · 25/04/2018 10:36

I'm hungry today. Missing my 10.30 boiled eggs as I'm at work. Getting up at 5ish does not work well with calorie restriction. It's always easier on the days I can sleep in a bit.

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2018 10:37

Ooh I have just made a cup of tea with koko dairy free unsweetened (was on offer in sainsburys) and it was pretty good! I have bought almond milk a couple of times since starting this and found it fine for smoothies but never got far with it due to it splitting and tasting yuk in hot drinks. 16 cals per 100 ml. It still needs to pass the coffee test though.

I also bought butternut squash lasagne sheets and turkey mince but don't have a recipe so this could go bad.

Very well done on your phase 2 - a little dark chocolate is probably good for you!

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2018 10:45

sorry cross posted

Oblomov unless I am making an effort to eat healthily and avoid junk I seem to gain pretty much 1lb a day. It's annoying.

I have sort of told myself I will be in a size 10 swim suit for holiday - I thought M&S sized up so went and had a look yesterday at their cozzies but there is no way I will fit in one of those any time soon so it is unlikely that will happen.

Primal I find the low calories/ carbs def make me sleepy, I nearly had a nap just now but have so much to do (once I get off mumsnet), luckily seem to have woken up thanks to the tea.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2018 11:14

Yumyum don’t you find all swimwear has ‘tummy control’ panels in these days and it’s like putting on armour?!! They are so rigid!

And Paulhollywood this time round I started in January so that’s about 16 weeks? 17? But overall it’s 2.5 years on and off.

Ahhh! Thank you everyone. A lot of recipes say a handful of this and that so I haven’t been weighing. I’ve also realised that my ‘dash’ of oil is about 100cals! So maybe my 800 has been a lot more. Still think I should have lost something though!

SquareEyedSqu1d · 25/04/2018 12:02

Just doing some planning and making a shopping list. Has anyone made a "burger" with the beef and then halloumi or something BSD-friendly instead of a bun?

Husband is craving a burger and I have some in the freezer so thought I'd ask!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2018 12:51

Squareeyed yes, we use just regular but good quality supermarket burgers so they have minimal carb content and blacksticks blue cheese. I’ve never managed to make burgers at home that are as juicy as shop bought.

I sooooooo want a burger right now.

Belindabelle · 25/04/2018 13:22

Portobello mushrooms make good buns for burgers.

Stack mushroom, slice tomato, burger, cheese, pickle top with another mushroom.

PhyllisWig · 25/04/2018 17:49

I am a daily weigher fwiw. One of the first signs I'm on a downward spiral food wise is that I don't weigh so I can kid myself it's not that bad. Appreciate this is a broader issue for me but I have made my peace that I will never find balancing food and weight loss easy so pick my battles.

This means I understand a few fluctuations. Ovulation is a pretty bad hiccup each month. Takeaway is another. This means I don't fret too much when I bob around a bit (and always avoid period days).

Just an alternate POV. I appreciate there are lots of reasons not to weigh everyday but for some it may help motivation.

PrimalLass · 25/04/2018 18:06

I'm a daily weighter too and totally agree.

PutTheChocEggDown · 25/04/2018 19:15

Coming in at 1000 cals today. I am never putting stupid, sweet mango dressing on my roasted veg again! I am really tempted to not count non-starchy veg and salad stuff and just count everything else. Pissed off counting 50cals a day for milk too.

I have lost 5lbs as of this morning so at least moving in the right direction.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2018 19:32

Put that’s a great loss so far! It pisses me off counting 50 cals for milk too- but even more so when I admitted to myself that I probably should really count double that (as I have 4 coffees a day)- today after seeing place (I think) post above I decided I would measure my 100ml and any extra would need to be almond milk. Well, almond milk in coffee is grim. So as a result, I only had 2 coffees.

I’m coming in at around 1200 today, so quite a calorie heavy day, but it was all in plan and delicious, so I am not going to berate myself. 16k steps (including a 4K run and I did 10 minutes of the arm exercises from 30 day shred as her jumping around is killing my knees!). Rest day tomorrow- always find it harder to stick to calories if I don’t run, so must be on best behaviour!

OP posts:
Oblomov18 · 25/04/2018 19:44

MFP gives 50 calories for a mug of tea!! Which I drink tonnes of at work - about 6! I'm having to replace some of them with hot water and a slice of lemon.
Drives me crazy!

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2018 19:46

Bear this milk is really worth a try, it's coconut but watered down a lot so low cal www.ocado.com/webshop/product/Koko-Dairy-Free-Unsweetened-Chilled/381760011 only ok in coffee but still better than disgusting and didn't curdle unlike almond, hemp and oat ones I have tried recently. Totally fine in tea almost like a normal cuppa.

yumyumpoppycat · 25/04/2018 19:57

Oblomov I only count tea with semi skimmed as 5 cals - maybe that's where I am going wrong! I only have a splash in tea, I like coffee really milky though.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 25/04/2018 20:13

Thanks yumyum i tried that one last week in my shakes but didn’t try it in coffee.
I use semi skimmed which is 100 ml for 50 cals oblomov so unless you like really milky tea that can’t be right, surely?! Some of the flavoured green teas I find quite nice, and better than ‘fruit tea’ which always smells divine and tastes of nothing!

My sister is dairy free currently because she is breastfeeding and her baby is cmpi- so she’s tried all the alternative milks and reckons almond is ok in decent coffee- must be a desired taste because I wasn’t feeling it today.....

I’m going to persevere though, if nothing else because I don’t sleep well and I realised today that I substitute coffee (with sweetener, very naughty) for food and perhaps that’s not really a healthy habit. Maybe cutting down to 2 a day would be beneficial.

PrimalLass · 25/04/2018 20:18

I must start counting milk too.

I've hit more like 950 cals again today. Am knackered and hungry. Will have some sf jelly and a smidge of mascarpone I think 🙄 as I don't want to go to bed starving.

Will be at home tomorrow so can have boiled eggs. That was my downfall today.

isthistoonosy · 25/04/2018 20:26

Finally an upside to the stupid tea kitty situation where I work which means we never have any milk. I've just got use to taking it black or having fruit tea in work.

5kg so far (2 weeks) - I know its lots of water weight etc but nice to see it going down.

Snowglobes · 25/04/2018 20:43

I’m currently at 758cals and I’m hungry!
Played tennis then ate b’fast of
1 egg with half can of sugar/salt free baked beans and 2 coffees = 270 cals
Lunch - 100g cottage cheese, whole pear and 25g walnuts and a third coffee = 377
Then 3 plums = 90 cals
I’m cross that this totals over 70g carbs! Blooming baked beans! 28g carb Thought they were mostly protein!! The pear & plums haven’t helped much but feeling misled by beans! I’m finding it difficult to increase protein.
I’m still hungry. What can I have for 50cals to satisfy this later hunger pang pls?

PhyllisWig · 25/04/2018 21:06

Boiled egg? Bit over but filling g and on plan.

PhyllisWig · 25/04/2018 21:10

Heavier food day today - probably around 925 cals.

I had a training course and the free lunch was ALL carbs even the salad so ran out and got an itsu low carb salmon and egg salad (and a new mortgage). Got home before 8 which is early for me and fancied stodgy so broke out the endamame pasta for the first time with some spinach and feta. It did the job actually but needed a heavier sauce. Huge portion for 50g too.
