I found a 70 calorie egg or two Quorn cocktail sausages make good snacks.

I will come in at 900 cals again today. Too many carbs though although reading the Blood Sugar Diet book again has helped motivate me. No further weight loss today. I go between feeling energetic and feeling very tired. Does it go away?

I am worried about the weekend! We usually have a takeaway on Fri night, mostly Chinese. Anything vegetarian I could have that's low carb? Otherwise I might buy a pack of tofu and throw it into veg satay or similar. Weekends are my greatest struggle!

PrimalLass · 26/04/2018 14:04

I have no off switch either.

Feeling rubbish today. Carb flu maybe? DS also feeling rubbish so maybe we've just caught something. I'm lying on the sofa, not at Pilates.

PrimalLass · 26/04/2018 14:44

Is an upset stomach normal? Think I read on here or the BSD forum that it is normal at the start of this. V glad I didn't go to Pilates!!

Snowglobes · 26/04/2018 16:35

Oh crikey my chicken lentils added up to 470 cals... so not quite the 50 max I needed! So ended yesterday at around 1200 but given I’ve nit lost an ounce since starting I’m not going to let it worry me. And like you say primal the lentils maybe ‘useful’! Some great ideas there very very... wish I liked boiled eggs. Bizarrely can only eat eggs when the yolk and white are mixed. Weird I know. londonista your sourdough bread sounds delish! I adore almond butter and would defo need to measure it out as could easily eat a whole jar. A lot of this is prep as I’m not used to what 30g etc looks like. My handful of walnuts turned out to be a whopping high cal 80g!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/04/2018 16:35

Thanks Belinda I think I’d be the same. It’s interesting what you say about slimming world, I did years at sw but lost weight very slowly and cleatly ate far too much. Their mentality is that you must eat lots of food so you’re never hungry, but that is a challenge I took up all too readily!
Interesting too about the low carb, we don’t need to go as low as 20g in here, but then don’t get the ketosis effect either.

Put it Might help to consider rather than ‘too many carbs’ what sort of carbs they are- I’ve seen them labelled ‘the big 5’ but basically rice, pasta, potato, grains, sugar- if you’re avoiding these and also managing 8-900 (which is great) then it doesn’t matter how many carbs. (Oh, and fruit- too much fruit sends me carb crazy). Chinese takeaway often had a lot of hidden sugars in the sauces etc so I’d be wary, especially as you’re looking for veg options. (I normally have crispy duck and veg stir fry, but sans duck it would be a bit of a waste of time!)

I’m supposed to be aiming for 800 today but i’ve had 725 already and haven’t had tea yet! Quick root about in the freezer and I’ve found a vege chilli portion so I’m having that with salad but will come in over at about 1000 cals.

I mostly only like eggs I've cooked myself. I can go off them very quickly. I adore poached eggs but they really need a slice of bread. There's a gf one with only 10 carbs per slice though.

Oblomov18 · 26/04/2018 18:34

I've been doing very well so far this week: 600 calories every day so far.

wowfudge · 26/04/2018 19:05

Whoa - 600 a day? Don't worry to sound preachy but Michael Moseley's research found 800 was the way to go, didn't it?

I'm around 900 calories today, which after yesterday I'm pleased with. I did stir fried pork fillet with fennel seeds, oregano, garlic and paprika served with peas with pancetta and pearl onions and steamed asparagus for tea. Didn't feel like a diet and was really tasty.

PhyllisWig · 26/04/2018 19:43

Had a shitty day today. Started off by fainting due to a mixture of low blood sugar (had this last time) and dreadful sinuses.

Eggs for breakfast but then didn't get time for lunch til gone 3 and was feeling distinctly ropey. Am planning a big tea - veggie sausages, tomatoes, mushrooms and scrambled egg. I know it's too many eggs but it's a one off and I think I need some ballast.

Oblomov18 · 26/04/2018 19:47

Happened accidentally.

Well 674 was quiche and salad, basil Mozarella and tomato salad, and then autumnal salad.

I haven't been regularly below 800 in over a year, so this is big for me - won't last long, I'm sure!

PrimalLass · 26/04/2018 20:14

Just saw this on the BSD Facebook page.

wowfudge your pork sounds lovely. I always find I cook it to be too dry. I skipped b’fast and met a friend for lunch. Ordered a healthy BSD friendly halloumi & advocado salad.... except covered in dressing & a lot of pine nuts. Only just counted it all up and comes in just under 800! 4 slices of halloumi Shock... who knew that was so high in cals? At least had an Americano coffee rather than a glass of wine or latte! So no dinner for me tonight! Luckily feeling quite full after my ‘healthy’ lunch. Sounds like you may have had a morning like mine bear! I keep thinking I’m making great choices then they end up way off! Will check out the FB Page primal

Snowglobes · 26/04/2018 21:20

primal that’s got to be more than 800? Unless they’re on saucers.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 26/04/2018 21:47

I thought that too snow, I reckon that breakfast is probably 600 at least! They also look quite depressingly beige don’t they?!

I’m closing the kitchen on 1500 (after having dinner and then having a little evening snack of peanut butter and cheese!), 17k steps, no run- let’s just write today off? Yeah?

Tomorrow- ah, the weekend. Last weekend I maintained by having no snacks outside of meals but didn’t calorie count as such, so I may try that this weekend too. I haven’t run outside all week but I have no dc tomorrow afternoon so I am excited to get out and will try to do a 10k, plus again on either Saturday or Sunday. That should offset some of the damage from today.

Thanks for tips Bear and sorry you had a rough day Phyllis.

I'm planning a high cal day tomorrow. Doing it as a 'planned binge' to avoid throwing it all away and diving into a Chinese and family pack of choc. Plan is to stay away from the big bad five but to have more fat and protein as required. So plenty of hummus, avocado and Quorn. Going to have mushrooms stuffed with cheese and garlic with Quorn burger and cheese for my fancy Friday night dinner.

The only way I can do this is by planning. I put my meals into MFP the night before. Still thinking about not counting veg at all apart from avocados and root veg.

PrimalLass · 26/04/2018 22:09

primal that’s got to be more than 800? Unless they’re on saucers.

She posted the MFP screenshots too.

Snowglobes · 27/04/2018 06:05

Amazing primal I’m definitely doing something wrong, I’d have the b’fast would be v near 800. It really is hard to judge. ChocEgg yes, I think I need to put items into MFP BEFORE I eat them and ask if there’s a dressing and to side it. My protein is always quite low, carbs ok and fat really high. Especially yesterday. Think I need to eat meat and 3 veg (not roots). Wish I liked boiled eggs!
I don’t know how you run and keep your cals so low bear! In fact I’m just wowed at you running at all. One 1500 day won’t hurt in the big scheme of things. I bet you still fit into those skinny chinos. (V jealous).

PrimalLass · 27/04/2018 06:28

Morning!

I'll try and find the post again and stick the numbers into MFP.

Down another 1lb, so 7 since Monday. What is this witchcraft?

I only want to lose 1.5 st in total, but might change my mind if I ever get there - it has been 10 years since I was that weight so I can't remember what it looks like. I guess it might not be 'different enough'.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 27/04/2018 06:56

That’s a good idea put , I do that sometimes. Still count it but just have more, and really nice ‘luxury BSD food’. We love halloumi fries, but they are v high calories if you have Loads but if they’re done properly they are as close to a real chip as you’re gonna get. Also I do mushrooms in cream and cheese and garlic sauce with a bit of chilli, it’s so nice.

Weighed in today at 10.11.4, which is 2.5lb down since Monday. Pleased with that, all things considered, but as always my challenge is to keep that off now over the weekend.

OP posts:
PrimalLass · 27/04/2018 07:05

2.5 is great. I can't wait to see a 10 at the start of my weight - happened for about one day in the last few years but it was the day we were going on holiday so didn't last. I'd like to get there and stay there this time.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2018 09:46

Halloumi is a bit hit and miss - when it's right it is delicious - but I couldn't believe the calories either!

Primal that is a huge percentage of your planned weight loss already. When I lost originally on this I kept pushing my goal lower which I regret now, I would LOVE to be back at my lowest weight.

Bear - the weight is falling off you!

I have lost 4lb this week and gone down every day, but it's not that exciting as I lost and regained the same over easter hol. I am going to have a higher day to day as doing weights, also want to see if I can eat more and not gain.

I am going to try and eat more today without gaining tomorrow.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/04/2018 09:47

oops repeating myself Blush I really really want to eat more without gaining!

PrimalLass · 27/04/2018 09:48

Thanks it is really just the excess 'fluff' I've been carrying since Christmas. The hard bit starts now as this is the weight I struggle to get past.

wowfudge · 27/04/2018 09:53

Snowglobes natural yoghurt is high in protein and even full fat isn't that high a % fat. I buy a bag of frozen blueberries and chuck 30g in with a 150g serving. I make my own yoghurt every two to three weeks and it lasts to alternate with other breakfasts. I even eat it unsweetened now.

I also like apple and almond butter - much more filling than you'd think.

I find anything that takes a bit of time and effort to eat has the psychological effect of making you feel more satiated.

Snowglobes · 27/04/2018 12:13

Whoa! primal! 7lb since Monday!! Crikey. I must stick with this!
Thanks wowfudge I love yoghurt and DID have lots of berries in the fridge but the blooming kids have scoffed them all! Making your own yoghurt sounds interesting. How much almond butter do you have with your apple. LOVE that combo but before I started BSD I’d have 2 apples and half a tub (if not a whole jar!)
We’ve friends coming over for lunch on Sunday and I’m worried what to serve. Any ideas please?
