I haven't eaten breakfast.
This will be my only thing I'll eat, till dinner.

Errr yes, that dinner, that I don't know what we are having yet? Hmm

JigglyTuff · 06/09/2017 11:30

Thanks Bear! I'll have a look next time I'm in the supermarket. I might nip into Tesco later and see if they've got a sugar free version.

Looks alright to me Oblomov. I weigh everything. I have an electronic scale and I just put the empty plate on, zero it and then add stuff. Well having said that, I guess salad and count 10 cherry tomatoes rather than weighing individually.

But a 2lb loss is good!

IfYouHappenToSee · 06/09/2017 12:25

I do the same, Jiggly, with the scales.

Well done on the trousers!

I have a few dresses in the wardrobe that I bought a couple of years ago that no longer fit.

If I can get down to about 9st 10 I'll be overjoyed. I'll be content at 10st 3 and then review again.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2017 13:51

I would always weigh meat and cheese if I was having a counting day, they are so high in calories. I was always using the tracker's figures and one day weighed a chicken breast- it was twice the weight I'd been using. There's no harm in having days when you don't count calories as well.

I just use my digital scales, keep them on the worktop and just put everything on there before on my plate. It's a habit that can be easily formed. I did a sample salad which I entered into mfp as one item which is my standard 'lunch' salad and that could be a bit out some days!

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/09/2017 13:58

I have scales on the worktop and weigh most things. I also buy the small individual cheeses, etc so I don't have to weigh them and also to stop me eating too much. If I have a block of cheese, I always take a much bigger portion than I need.

PinkBlossomTree · 06/09/2017 14:14

That's spot on Bear as I've got that same one in the cupboard, will get some yoghurt when I'm out next.

I tend to not use too much spices as they do tend to have many hidden calories, DH loved the maggi shaker bags but some of those are well over 300 cals.

But that tandoori isn't very calorific I don't think.

I've also found Lidls do Mexican spice Seasoning in a packet so I add that too mixed peppers onions and chicken. It's lovely and like fajitas without the wrap: and very low in calories as I think the whole packet is only 15/30g and I only need a bit as it's really spicy.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/09/2017 14:32

Oblomov my food never looks very photogenic Grin

Oblomov I only weigh food when I am being super duper good. I think I have a pretty good eye for it though as used to work on supermarket deli/meat/fish counters when I was at college/uni. Been reading the lets be kind to ourselves thread on weightloss chat, maybe we should try and copy them by doing some treats for ourselves too! PS Oblomov aren't you pretty much a healthy weight for your height, I have slipped off that category I think but overall we are still doing alright even if just maintaining healthy weight?

yumyumpoppycat · 06/09/2017 14:41

PS love the spice tips will try those!

Oblomov17 · 06/09/2017 16:43

Yum yum I'm very small. Only just over 5'1''.

I am supposed to be under 9 stone. Apparently. When I was, I looked ill. I was 9-9.5 for 35 years. Was a size 12 my whole life.
I was 11 3/4, when I started this. Jan 16. Got to 10 stone. Wanted to be just into the 9's. Now back to 10 1/2 almost.

So I do I have quite a way to go.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2017 17:50

Tonight's tea: chilli con carne, veg and a tbsp of sour cream and tbsp guacamole. It needed some cheese as well but I wanted to save my calories for an evening nibble as Dh is working late tonight.

My lunch today: 30g really mature cheddar, 60g avocado, 1 slice of Cumberland sausage (from asda, yummy!) and 4 cherry toms.

That brings my totals today to 764 with 17g carbs (4.5g fibre)- that's probably my lowest carb day ever!!

What's anyone's thoughts on passion fruit? I know he says no tropical fruit, but 1. They are teeny (only 20cals), 2. They are surely full of fibre as you eat all the pips so net carbs must be low, 3. They are pretty sour tasting if you buy them here. I put them in the trolley without thinking, really fancying one drizzled on some yoghurt, and then realised that you can't get much more tropical than that! So.....what do you reckon? Am I allowed one?!

I'm not dissimilar oblomov last time I checked I was 10.7 ish too I am a little weeny bit taller (under 5 ft 4) - when I was in the 8 stone bracket as a teen my periods stopped and all my bones stuck out. We have both still kept a lot off that's the main thing.

Dinner looks yum Bear and Passion fruit at 20 cals MUST be ok??

HerRoyalFattyness · 06/09/2017 18:59

I'm just eating fish and veg tonight. Nothing exciting.
I don't tend to get too adventurous with food. I struggle with very strong tastes and certain textures.

JigglyTuff · 06/09/2017 19:21

Passion fruit is 23g of carbs per 100g. But if it's only 20 calories that must be tiny surely?

I'm still eating my ratatouille. And drinking wine as DS has his 11+ exam tomorrow so I'm bricking it a bit. Not quite sure how wine is going to help but it's taking my mind off it!

blueskyinmarch · 06/09/2017 19:25

I am finding that eating little is making me weirdly hyper. I am not sleeping well, waking early but am hyper all day. I feel like I imagine people feel when they are on drugs. I don't feel at all sleepy at any time. You would think this would be good but I think I am going to crash at some point. Anyone else feel like this?

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2017 20:14

I did have the passion fruit, it was delish!

Ending the day on 930 cal, 27 carbs, 7g fibre. I did run this evening, but only managed 11mins as I'm too knackered after the day. I think morning or lunchtime runs are more my cup of tea!

Going for lunch with some friends and our toddlers tomorrow, it's a sort of bi-monthly do and we each bring a course- sandwiches, crisps, cake. Will it be terribly rude do you think to take my own salad? Or should I just pretend to be eating the sarnies? I'm on cake so I'm going to take some but also some strawberries which I can then eat, but not sure what to do about the mains- maybe I could take some cooked chicken and some babybel "for the boys" and then scoff then myself!!!

OP posts:
Oblomov17 · 06/09/2017 20:17

After my good day, I sabotaged it when I got home, after school pick up, by eating crisps and chocolate. Why? Angry

PinkBlossomTree · 06/09/2017 20:29

I didn't count calories today as I skipped lunch as was out and about.

For tea I had chicken breast with a wedge of cheddar wrapped in ham with cauliflower and 2 table spoons of garden peas. I tend to avoid peas as I found out early on during R1 they seem quite high on the carbs,

I do find with my teas that by excluding potatoes/ rice / pasta I do usually come in around or under 500 cals.

Random question but does anyone combine BSD with 5:2 and have a fast day? As fasting as become a way of life since stopping this, I can't get my head round the fact I won't be fasting tomorrow and was tempted to throw in a FD what do you think?

I've not read the MM BSD book so I have no idea as I accidentally downloaded the American book back in May.

APlaceOnTheCouch · 06/09/2017 20:35

bear I'd take some cooked chicken. Then I'd be less likely to crumble and eat the sandwiches!
Jiggly good luck to your DS for tomorrow.
Oblomov no answers - I found myself eating Maltesers whilst waiting for DH and DS.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 06/09/2017 21:00

Pink I've considered it but never done it. Do you mean a 500 cal fast day as per 5:2? Why not offset your fast day by having a 'no count but on plan' day? I'd have thought if you did 800 cals X 6 and 1x 500 you'd be hungry and might struggle a bit (I would, I know it) - but if you did mostly 800 cals, a really super strict day, and then a more relaxed day that would likely work.

Or just do your 500 cal day and chuck in a wedge of cheese as a snack, and a full fat latte in the afternoon - you'd take your 500 fast up to 800 really easily and probably not notice it.

OP posts:
Oblomov17 · 06/09/2017 21:30

Pink, I've fasted before. And lots of people do 16:8 on this, so only eating between certain hours.
I've done, once or twice, evening meal, sleep, no breakfast, no lunch, then dinner.
I've done that and found it ok.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/09/2017 22:20

MM is recommending 800 cals might be sufficient for 5:2 style days now instead of 500 if combined with low carb on the 5 'feast' days, so I would say deliberately adding in 500 to a week of 800s is prob too much - an occasional day where that just happens different. Agree with Oblomov that 16:8 fasting does work with BSD though.

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 06/09/2017 22:38
  1. 45 calories was 3 x giant chocolate buttons. Blush

No exercise at all though. Worked from home so apart from walking to collect DD from school (a paltry 3,000 steps) I haven't moved.

Gym tomorrow hopefully.

SpaghettiAlphabetti · 06/09/2017 22:42

Good luck to jiggly's DS
