The heats were amazing.

Really hoping Max wins a medal - for him! Hes paid his dues over the years.

Anyone trying to watch the swimming finals??? I'm on iplayer and they showed the 4IM and then switched to hockey before the women's 100Fly final - so frustrating 😖

Glittertwins · 28/07/2024 20:06

So annoying. I've signed up for Discovery + now

I switched back to main tv and then iplayer and they had the swimming finals on separately.

It's been an exciting evening of swimming. You should be able to get it back on the iplayer

SabrinaThwaite · 28/07/2024 21:01

I’ve had continuous BBC coverage after hanging on for the tennis - 200 Free onwards (they replayed the 400 IM and 100 Fly).

itsgettingweird · 28/07/2024 21:01

Can anyone tell me if the Paralympic's are on channel 4 this year or discovery?

If it's discovery I'm signing up now to catch olympics too

Porseb · 28/07/2024 21:32

They switched the iplayer streams mid-finals and I found the swimming steam again part way through the first 200Fr semi.

Might sign up for discovery too as can't be trying to switch streams in the middle of finals!

Glittertwins · 28/07/2024 21:43

I like watching the diving and gymnastics as well so at least this way I can watch when they're actually on rather when BBC actually bother to show it without long periods of talking. I know they have a rubbish deal, just like Tokyo but it's annoying for everyone.

It looks as if Channel 4 are streaming the paralympics, Weird:

Aaannnndddd relax ☺️

Hope he had a good week and is happy with his swims.

Enjoy the break - we have summer shut down Monday for 2 weeks and then skeleton for 2 weeks before the madness begins again 😂

Glittertwins · 02/08/2024 18:20

Yep, he had a good week if you see the English results😉

Hope ok to post here! It was recommended so hoping someone can help-

My teen DD has over the last few years got into a lot of sport and trains several times a week and is very muscular and has broad shoulders. She's 18 now and is really struggling to find clothes with broad shoulders- particularly for school where she doesn't have to wear a uniform but has to be smart (no jeans, hoodies or casual wear). She's also only about 5 foot so not very tall!

Does anyone have suggestions of clothing brands / stores we could try please? Thx!

Glittertwins · 16/08/2024 16:56

Sorry I can't help but I recognise the problem as I had it and still do to an extent as I have broad shoulders from being a fly swimmer.

I think you need to look at brands that have petite sizes and then look at their fitting guide (possibly going up a size or two for tops). Try looking on this website for ideas about possible retailers:
www.fridaypetite.co.uk/latest/best-places-for-petite-clothing

In terms of tops, ideally you would go for raglan sleeves, rather than those that are supposed to sit on the shoulder. I've seen (and own) blouses gathered around the neckline this year.

I Bought DD(17) a few traditional semi-fitted cotton blouses (not unlike school shirts, but nicer) that she teams up with a tank top or thin knit jumper (Uniqlo is good for those) for 6th form.

Boden do some good workwear and formalwear. DD tends to wreck her clothing, but Boden trousers have lasted well (it isn't cheap these days, so maybe wait for sales or try Vinted/eBay). M&S also do a good range of petite work trousers (though you will probably have to order in the right length/size/colour after trying on a few - the stock levels at our local shop are wild).

Good luck with the shopping!

Teateaandmoretea · 16/08/2024 20:25

I can’t be much help with this. Both my girls are fairly small in build it’s one of the reasons they aren’t THAT GOOD at swimming

itsgettingweird · 16/08/2024 21:43

Afraid I'm not much help either as I have a son!!!

However he very upper body strong and built so we tend to size up and buy slim fit for t shirts (we use next and m and s)

Thank you so much - some great suggestions! We will have a look

broadshoulderteen · 16/08/2024 23:14

And thanks to other posters too - fingers crossed we'll find her something she'll like that actually fits!

Coming to this late. My DD had to wear a suit jacket / blazer for 6th form but we found stretchy collared / boat neck tops worked well under those.

Blazers had to be a larger size to fit her shoulders but she kept the tops underneath quite fitted.

I think she just bought cheap tops from H&M / Primark. Cotton shirts were a bit of a nightmare so we steered clear of those.

itsgettingweird · 31/08/2024 17:06

Anyone watching the Paralympic swimming?

My neighbours must wonder what's been going on here the past few days - ds (and I) screaming at the TV 😂

The swimmers are smashing it 🥳

Glittertwins · 01/09/2024 14:07

Yes, got it on now watching the cycling. I know two of the swimmers (one more the parent) so it's been good watching them do so well.
