DC wasn't happy with the prospect of a 200m free final 10 mins after the heat with a PB. Didn't actually reappear so we presumed he'd stayed in marshalling for the final and then took another 1+ second off the time

Well done to him on getting another PB in the final, if he’d already pushed hard in the heats that’s a really great achievement. It could definitely be a dangerous strategy for them not pushing too much in the heats, one of my eldest’s friends was annoyed at counties when he got it wrong, didn’t push enough and ended up 9th and missed the final. My youngest had automatic heats in all but one event which doesn’t give much incentive to push, but I encouraged him to see it as having 2 shots at getting the regional times, and the only one he took it easier in was 100 fly as he felt he needed to save more for the final in that

It's a long long sprint - bit like a 400m on the track. Too short for distance but have to keep going pretty quickly

Loads of traffic heading towards motorway. Got to bridge you go across and down - backed up as far as the eye can see.

Ds and I decided to go around and back home. Far better than sitting in traffic for some unspecified amount of time! Even though he had land training afterwards we didn't fancy attempting it.

@itsgettingweird oh no at least you were able to get out of the jam and didn't have to sit in it until it cleared. DS can always do some land training at home, or just have the night off.

My DS nearly didn't get to training as he has been home alone all day due to the strike and because he was out of routine when I got in in time to get in the car and go to training he was still sat in his PJs!

Mine have been known to change out of pjs straight to swimming stuff in a particularly lazy day too!

Can I beg some advice from you experts on swim goggles for an 11 to please? We don’t do squads but DS and sometimes DD swim for school and apparently every single pair of goggles they own is rubbish.

Amazon as we live in the sticks!

We've had lots of Aquaspheres (DD had Zoggs when she was tiny). I am guessing that 11 year olds still have fairly small faces (but they also have a youth and women's compact size):

We had good news today.

Ds has received a grant from sports aid - backing the best. They fund certain things throughout the year up to the value of his award (we just have to put in the costs each quarter).

He's off to Sheffield this weekend and has his international classification next Monday followed by the world para series meet!

No he's at world para series which starts next Thursday. But he has classification with international para committee on Monday morning at 9am so needs to go up Sunday.

Just looked at the Edinburgh International meet entries and seen that had I realised they'd got the consideration times in two events, they'd have got into at least one of them. Parenting fail!
