Sadly not. We get at 4am every weekday except Wednesday (because it's a complete rest day for his squad!) and 5am on Saturdays.

They don't train Sundays either but this Sunday he's racing at county champs so we will be up at 6 🙄

We aren't too far from the pool used for counties so it is not too bad for us. 9am warmup on the Sunday.

We're about half hour so not too bad. Warm up 8.30 so be there at 8 ish. So actually probably up at 6.30!

Ours are starting tomorrow, 9.30 warm up so quite sociable and 9.45 Sun. They do the long races first thing. We’re 20 minutes away.

I hope everyone thats at counties are having a good day. I was going to ask this question in chat but then thought you lot would be sure to know. Beware though it is a super boring question...

If you only have room for 1 ice block in your cool bag should it go on the top or at the bottom?

I usually put mine at the bottom

Mine goes at the bottom because that's where the tub of pasta goes. I put non chilled stuff on the top

Thank you, I knew swim parents would be excellent cool bag packers. I'm slightly freaking out about DS's beast of a distance day tomorrow so deciding to focus on the things I can control like the position of the ice block 🙈🤣

But my pesto sauce is quite antisocial with amount of garlic in it so I don't send it to meets. Guess they could kill off the competition by breathing on them in the marshalling area though!

I make hot pasta in a thermos - not with pesto but only because ds doesn't eat it!

Yep DS would not thank me for pasta and especially not with any kind of sauce.

Great start to distance day broke down on the way on a notoriously dangerous road. Luckily not that dangerous at 7am!

Ds had a surprising good race. Not for any reason other than his PBs were set in British finals so a non rested counties I didn't expect him to get too near!

But he smashed his 100m free in 58.87 (0.6 outside his pb).

He's his usual cool as a cucumber self about it

@itsgettingweird thankfully DH was with us so I put as SOS out on the swim mums whatsapp and someone who was on their way found us and picked up me and DS and we left DH to sort the car.

He got bronze in 1500m but there was only 3 kids his age. Now im giving him daggers across the pool as he is not eating!!!

We came home inbetween and I'm cooking ds pasta and meatballs!

He's starving so I'm sure he'll eat.

You couldn't make my day up. We have now been evacuated from the pool due to a fire alarm mid 800m. We know DS got bronze though (out of 5 kids this time).

Certainly having an interesting day @Hellocatshome! Hope the rest are less eventful.
We've had a good day with a PB in the 800m free and gold medals overall.
