Hopefully this will work as we’re at 999 on the other!

Yes, it's live streamed and costs a small fortune but it's not the same for the real young ones who've never had a proper county champs with parents there. It's also crap for the parents as everyone has to drive there too - we'll all be hanging around in cars waiting for them and being charged for the council parking too!!

I think we're in the same County! I've never understood why they use such an appalling and shallow pool. DS enters very few events now at Counties as he hates the pool.

Glittertwins · 22/12/2022 06:09

I suppose the one useful thing is that it's just the one pool used and it's relatively easy to get there. My county champs were at different pools across the county and it was a minimum hour drive to any of the pools at any weekend with lousy A roads, no motorway.

Definitely not the same not being able to have parents there, and a real pain for them having to hang around too. Are there other, better pools they could have used instead too? It feels like they should be able to come up with something better than no spectators at all

Ours uses two different pools, one which isn’t actually in our county, neither is too bad to get to for us thankfully, one is less than 15 min, the other is about 50 min.

Glittertwins · 22/12/2022 10:22

Oh, there are plenty of other suitable pools, at the risk of being totally outed, I won't say why we don't believe it will be changed 😉

We had our Nationals held in a different country one year because there were no LC pools available. We also got snowed in at our accommodation which didn’t help (farmer host was great clearing a way out to the main road).

itsgettingweird · 24/12/2022 12:45

So that's it for 3 days. Looking forward to a rest from early mornings - 4am alarm is off until 3rd January!

And only 4 days of training left of 2022!

Hope you're all having a well earned rest over Christmas too Wine

Glittertwins · 24/12/2022 13:05

Back in on Tuesday. Loving the later mornings (I'm still waking up at 5:30am!!)

Looks like many are back in on Tuesday - enjoy your Xmas feasting, late mornings and for your swimmers, plenty of napping time Xmas Smile

Glittertwins · 24/12/2022 15:17

It's all about the Xbox for the next few days 🙄

We are back Wednesday. We don't ever swim BH (thankfully!)

Did have a 2 hour session this morning though and they swam 40 200's!

Glittertwins · 24/12/2022 16:56

His coach is evil!!

So DS has gone back to training this morning and had to get out after 30mins as the tumble turns were making him dizzy. I have the flu bug thats going round but he has no symptoms, says he feels fine just got really dizzy doing tumble turns.

Do you think this could be the result of doing nothing but sitting on his bum playing computer games and eating chocolate for the last few days and be should go to training again tomorrow?

He has never missed a single training session through illness in his life so I think it must have been quite bad for him to get out the pool.

Glittertwins · 29/12/2022 11:00

Tumble turns at the end of a length should not cause this so he could be coming down with something. I'd look at reducing screen time in case eye strain could be causing something but it's more likely he has succumbed to illness

I felt a little "off" day before xmas eve. Nothing I could put my finger on but as it was first xmas without mum I wondered if it was that.

Xmas day night I kept waking with a pain in my forehead and dizzy feeling - almost like an empty feeling of that makes sense? Remained like that most of Monday and Tuesday. Now have a slight cold but nothing bad. I slept lots though!

I think it was my sinuses and this cold is it clearing because I now feel fine!

So virus is a good shout.

Hope he feels better soon.

Hellocatshome · 29/12/2022 11:49

Hmm I might give him the benefit of the doubt then that he's a little poorly rather than just a lazy sausage that's eaten too much chocolate 🙈

Eccle80 · 29/12/2022 14:13

Sounds like he might be coming down with something, it seems like almost everyone I know has been ill at some point in the last month. Hope he is ok and back to normal soon.

Porseb · 29/12/2022 17:54

There's a lot of cold, coughs - general winter illness about.

We had 2 years of masks and this is the first real winter since that we're all mixing with little in the way of protection so not surprising that illnesses are doing the rounds.

Hope he feels better soon.

itsgettingweird · 29/12/2022 18:14

We've had this flu bug dong the rounds of ds swim club.

Since beginning of December we've had some swimmers out for 2-3 weeks and coaches having them back this week down a squad to get them back to some level of fitness.

itsgettingweird · 02/01/2023 11:48

Happy new year everyone Grin

Everyone ready and prepared for the madness that is counties into regionals into summers - with an odd British meet chucked in here and there inbetween?

Glittertwins · 02/01/2023 11:52

Happy New Year...yep back on the hamster wheel for sure!!

Hellocatshome · 02/01/2023 11:56

Happy New Year everyone, DS forgot he had a distance meet in few weeks so he has come back down to earth with a bump it will be a shock to the system thats for sure.

Eccle80 · 02/01/2023 11:59

Happy new year! We’re not back until tomorrow after a 2 week break, think it will be a shock to the system!

Glittertwins · 02/01/2023 12:01

We've had quite a lot of training over the holidays but no early mornings. I've been enjoying my 8am wake ups

OP posts:
Teateaandmoretea · 02/01/2023 12:56

We’ve had some training too over Christmas, none till tomorrow.

In terms of the mad run my kids have county times but aren’t regional level so unless something massively changes with massive pbs by mid feb things quieten down. Dd2 deffo won’t get any, she’s the age where it’s still joint with the year above so would be very rare. Dd1 could potentially get 1 or 2 but it’s dependent on some big pbs tbh.

Teateaandmoretea · 02/01/2023 12:59

But then the team galas kick off again it’s just not as glamorous or stressful 🤣
