The new annual thread for those interested and/or auditioning! Ask questions, update your news - lots of nco parents on board and those hoping to be :)

Well done to those who have got into national and regional orchestras. Sorry to hear about Goo, Waffle, but I very much hope she'll keep playing. I'm bracing myself for DD2 not to get anything after two years in nationals Confused

How many more days is this going to go on? Sad

snowbellina · 13/12/2017 16:38

Has anyone been getting no's today? They really should have done it more randomly as they said it was Confused

Doubleup · 13/12/2017 16:41

I think they need to start doing some serious overtime to get these results out!

Doubleup · 13/12/2017 16:43

Snow, that's part of the frustration; don't know whether there is a pattern or whether it's random, so could still have a no after waiting so long.... Confused

Trumpetboysmum · 13/12/2017 16:54

We just need to know here now . Ds said lots of potential under 13s haven't heard but some have heard today and it's been no so i don't know what to make of that . We just need to know now I really hope they do stay to get all the results out .Surely they realise that our older dcs all communicate via social media ? And so really it's no different to when it was by post .

Radiodependent · 13/12/2017 16:54

Unbelievably we have a yes for training orchestra and nice audition feedback. Have applied for London Juniors for regionals too with second choice South easterlies. Ds is unwell and hasn’t quite processed it yet, although he is a bit unsure about the residential thing.

Trumpetboysmum · 13/12/2017 16:56

Bass fantastic news for your ds I'm sure that my ds will be hoping that they can get together at regionals - at least now those dates are up I can see that if he does get a place he can make the first 2 rehearsals

folkmamma · 13/12/2017 17:02

I feel for all of you that still don't know, I'm nervously checking this thread for all your news!!

Not wanting to hijack this thread for other purposes, but am I right in thinking some of your DC's have sensory / SEN issues? If so, would be great to get some tips on how you manage music practice with them, I am having huge problems with my younger DD who I believe has as yet undiagnosed issues.... she is highly oppositional, extremely unbending and just WILL NOT focus on any repetitive work or isolated passages. Major control issues too! perhaps Someone with similar issues could message me privately?? She has huge potential but at the moment her 'issues' are massively hampering her progress 😔

TrumpetVoluntary · 13/12/2017 17:17

Congratulations to everyone who has got in and hope those children who didn’t aren’t too upset.
DD is very happy and can’t wait for regionals. She is more apprehensive about a residential course where she doesn’t know anyone so I am hoping we will meet some other U10s at South Easterlies, as if she knows others on the course then she won’t be as nervous!

TrumpetVoluntary · 13/12/2017 17:17

And for those who haven’t heard yet, I really hope you get an email soon - the waiting is horrible.

Josamac · 13/12/2017 17:57

Just got home to a yes email!! Can’t quite believe it. My daughter doesn’t know yet so I can’t wait to tell her. She will be nervous about the residential (U10) so hope she meets people at the regionals too. Not sure where to go. We are in Dorset so none of them are near. Though residential not too far away!

Josamac · 13/12/2017 17:58

And congratulations to all the others who got in, particularly those on the Uber competitive instruments! Commiserations to those who didn’t, the standard you have been writing about seems amazing so I’m sure they will go far....

TrumpetVoluntary · 13/12/2017 18:13

Congrats Josamac - sounds like our daughters will meet at the U10 residential at least. What instrument does she play? My DD plays trumpet (hence the name!)

superbaghag · 13/12/2017 18:23

Just got our email. It's a yes for u11's for our DD for the third year running.

Good luck to those still waiting.

Trumpetboysmum · 13/12/2017 18:31

So are they still sending out emails now superbag? I just guessed that we would have to wait till at least tomorrow now?

stringchild · 13/12/2017 18:38

Well done mini-super!

Hi folkmamma, both mine have Aspergers syndrome, but are v different personalities so we have to have two strategies for achieving everything that needs doing Hmm. I will PM you later, but I'm actually on a v rare night out this evening for a Christmas do!

Trumpetboysmum · 13/12/2017 18:49

Sorry just realised in my general frustration with the situation that I need to say well done to all those who have heard this afternoon Blush

Kutik73 · 13/12/2017 18:51

Trumpet, I understand your frustration. At least it seems to have moved to U11... DS auditioned for U11.... We should hear very soon if they are sending out alphabetical order...

violinandpiano · 13/12/2017 18:54

It looks all good news from this afternoon, so not too worry.

WindMum · 13/12/2017 19:05

Successful U11 here! Repeating U11 due to changes to age banding! Delighted to be in the national orchestra for a 3rd year! Will be going to London juniors again too!

Congrats to all who’ve received similar news today and my sympathies to those who are disappointed with their outcomes.

stringchild · 13/12/2017 19:14

Well done mini- wind- isnthat clarinet or flute (or something else??)

OP posts:
WindMum · 13/12/2017 19:45

Thanks String - she's a clarinettist! Smile

Josamac · 13/12/2017 20:19

TrumpetVoluntary, my girl plays viola. She’s over the moon and nervous about the residential in equal measure....

Totalshambles · 13/12/2017 20:38

Mine is in for training orchestra and also a little unsure but tentatively excited (esp at the prospect of midnight feasts) about the residential.

Congratulations to all those kids with good news and commiserations to those feeling disappointed - but there are so many wonderful opportunities to be outside nco that I am sure they won't be disappointed for long.
