Full length leggings that stay up when running please!

I'm 2 completely different sizes top and bottom, with a larger bottom half and small upper body. I'm looking for a new pair of full length leggings for running. Except I'm not a runner, just trying to return to some sort of exercise after a long time and my very old favourite leggings have finally given up on me. I struggle with all trousers really as they're never small enough around my waist after accomodating my bum. I'm not huge, just apparently oddly proportioned.

I want full length leggings, not this 7/8 stuff, dark solid colour that's not see through, and with some kind of ribbon or something to tie round my middle so they stay up and not just pre-washing! Sadly must also not cost a fortune.

Can anyone recommend some good leggings, please?

Think mine are llama leisure, staying up admirably during my couch to 5k!

TheRookieMum · 07/05/2025 21:45

Haha, that's exactly what I was going to start, till I discovered my leggings have gone thin & all holes where you don't want holes! I'll look at llama leisure, thanks, haven't heard of them

I have two pairs of these, they have a drawstring which keeps them in place. Really good for the price.

Notsoblonde · 07/05/2025 21:48

Nike, tikki boos, and Aldi are my go to ones, I get loads on Vinted and most have tags still on them.

TheChosenTwo · 07/05/2025 21:52

I swear by and will always recommend the sweaty Betty power leggings. Possibly more than you want to spend but I love mine, just own black pairs but they do quite a few other solid colours (aswell as some awful garish patterns!!). They go in the sale quite often though if you’re not too fussy.

Nike One leggings!

Mine are llama leisure too; I've chosen the jazziest patterns they have.

The best running leggings I've ever had for running were from Asos, lovely high waist and not expensive

Needapadlockonmyfridge · 07/05/2025 21:58

Sturdy by Design and Tikiboo have drawstrings.
I find the Ewedoos ones from amazon really good too - and very reasonable. They stay uo well.

FloraBotticelli · 07/05/2025 21:59

Always recommend Sweaty Betty power leggings - they’re the best and worth saving up for! But definitely look out for a half price sale, they happen fairly often, and look through all the colours as some are cheaper.

Also USA Pro stuff at Sports Direct isn’t too bad - pretty good for the money.

Twillywoowooo · 07/05/2025 21:59

Three requirements for running leggings:

1 drawstring waist
2 stash pocket on side for phone
3 zipped back pocket for keys etc

recommend m and s for budget and sweaty Betty power for pricier option. Both are great. Any brand that tells you they will stay up is for people with super flat abdomens.

I’ve had my Karrimor like this for 12 years and still going strong!

comeundone · 07/05/2025 22:03

Lucy locket loves are my running leggings (size 12 but bottom heavy), they have zipped phone pockets and some have let sure pockets big enough for a phone, stay up well and wash well. Only downside is as they're manufactured in China there is some variability in quality, I've had a defective pair before, the CS team dealt with the issue brilliantly.

IamChipmunk · 07/05/2025 22:03

Another vote for Tkkiboo. I have a few pairs, patterned and plain. They wash well and are not see-through at all. Also, have an adjustable waist.

ShaunaSadeki · 07/05/2025 22:04

Another vote for Sweaty Betty power here, I also have M&S good move and they are fine but not quite as good. Ronhill also always get recommended on these threads, but I can’t vouch for them personally.

EilishMcCandlish · 07/05/2025 22:06

M&S ones are pretty good. I am short, so 7/8 are full length on me, but full length also available. They are far more reasonably priced than some of the brands listed here.
I don't get on with Sweaty Betty, the proportions were off for me and I ended up giving them away.

PARunnerGirl · 07/05/2025 22:14

i don’t like to rely on a drawstring because I hate that feeling of them slipping down and the drawstring starting to dig into you. I feel the Marks ones are a bit like that. I think the important thing is that they have some degree of compression, like Sweaty Betty Power, Nike One etc. I have some Gym Shark ones that are OK but again, unfortunately I think you do need to pay for the better brands to get that staying power!

Pinkdreams · 07/05/2025 22:15

Victoria’s Secret leggings are really good x

fiorentina · 07/05/2025 22:15

Love the Sweaty Betty power leggings. Often to be found on Vinted and they do have good sales. I have pairs that are years old that I’ve worn and washed endless times!

Yorkshireblond · 07/05/2025 22:19

My favourites are Sweaty Betty and M&S good move, both great material, really comfy and don’t fall down at all

MargaritaPracticallyCan · 07/05/2025 22:24

Sweaty Betty power leggings (buy in the sale, or buy full price and enjoy, you won't need another pair any time soon.) Matalan have surprisingly decent leggings, long (I'm 5ft 10.5), or Ron Hill for classics with a drawstring - not super stylish but very good for running, that's what they're designed for.

Greeksauce · 07/05/2025 22:27

Have a look at the original running brands, Brooks, Asics, Ron Hill and always ones that have a tie waist.

Agree, Sweaty Betty power leggings are great.

midlandsmummy123 · 07/05/2025 22:57

Its a bit warm for full length now isn't it - anyway I found 3/4 length with a drawstring the best for staying up and comfortable on all but the very hottest or less than 5c days.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 08/05/2025 02:40

I have the same requirements as @Twillywoowooo. Ron Hill are my preferred running tights, the Run Every Day range is excellent.
