Just seen a preview of Iron Pro on Instagram and…..all the lifts were as predicted 😂. She has got a beautiful brown and gold incline bench too 😍

I've just seen this preview too. I enjoyed Iron on the app, but Pro isn't appealing to me. I find rests boring, so I think short sets/long rests will make me lose interest. (I do know rests are beneficial and important ... still find them boring though!) Pro is likely too advanced for me anyway - I've only been doing weights for a year.

I think I'll carry on with PE which I just started and am loving so far. There's no boring long rests in PE! Already I think this is going to be one I repeat.

As an aside, thanks for the tip on hamstring curls instead of roll outs. Another hater of roll outs here so I'll definitely give this a try.

Gobacktotheworld · 04/09/2025 07:07

I wonder. I am seeing a lot of comments about how boring people found the 75min workouts. I don't think she has quite got the balance right between work and rest periods. It feels neither fish nor fowl.

(I did the first one and it was the only full body of hers I have hated and ever had to stop and talk to myself for 20 minutes halfway through before I could complete it. Wasted half a bank holiday morning on it! I adore her full body ones normally.)

BigButtons · 04/09/2025 07:11

I am still very torn as to whether I should renew or not. Of whether I should try someone else for a bit- just to shake things up- or go back to the epics .

I will go against the grain and say I'm looking forward to trying this as I feel at a point where I want to push my weights a bit, and I don't mind longer rest periods.

I'll only be starting in October though as I'm away till then.

I’m pretty sure lifting too heavy has ruined my bum hole so I’m ultra cautious about going up too fast. Or trying to squeeze three programs into 4.5 days 😂

🤣🤣🤣🤣

samthebordercollie · 04/09/2025 09:03

@TheNoisesAboveIm just finishing PE for the third time. It’s a great programme. I love the fact that there’s a definite push/pull split for upper body that you don’t find in other programmes. No rest periods longer than 45 seconds, I’ve never been bored doing it.

New fear unlocked.

TessTickle0 · 04/09/2025 10:21

See,that's why I dont go too heavy when squatting! (My excuse and I'm sticking to it)

Fibrous · 04/09/2025 10:47

Yep learn from my mistakes! My anus will never be the same again.

Gobacktotheworld · 04/09/2025 10:48

My first thing was cancelled today so squeezed in the newish 60 min Posterior Chain one from the cgx app for about the fifth time, definitely a lowkey favourite, mostly 60 sec work, 45 rest (30 for the less taxing moves). This was just right.

Hopefully silly boy Aidan can write us all an amazing article on women's bumholes to add to his insights about how women should feel about menopause.

I'm only a few days into it, but I really like this format. Great to hear that you've never got bored doing it - I'm certain I'll be repeating it.

I await his insights 😂

Grin

It's sentences like this where Mumsnet really needs a laugh reaction.

😆

BigButtons · 04/09/2025 16:40

You lot really make me laugh😂😂😂😂
keeping it real here in lifting land!
PE day three for me- quads- loved it first time and loved it again. I literally could not feel my legs after about 60% which I count as a bonus 😂

I must say PE has grown on me a fair bit. A different style, no time for boredom.

BeethovenNinth · 05/09/2025 06:06

How can lifting heavy affect - erm - your bum hole?!!! Mine is already destroyed from pregnancy and prolapses. It can’t get any worse 🫣

I think Epic isnt on the App and that’s the one I like. I also still love her old stuff - thirty minutes, short rests and it felt like cardio too.

im an utter weakling - I generally lift half of CG. That some of you lift the same or even more blows my mind. I am always worried I drop a weight on my face! (Or the dogs - one of whom also sits next to my mat).

I also like Heather Robertson. Do-able but challenging. There are loads of great workouts on you tube. I will list some more of my favourites later. CG tends to injure me as I try lift heavy!!

BigButtons · 05/09/2025 07:21

What I want to know is why she has completely stopped some very basic and acceptable moves like Tate press, tricep kick backs, renegade rows etc. It makes no sense 🤷🏻‍♀️

Cherryblossom81 · 05/09/2025 07:22

Morning all. I’ve just completed Iron on YouTube for the second time. This was the first series I did when I started CG workouts last year. I’m trying to decide what to do next.

A bit off topic - but does anyone have any recommendations for a fitness watch/tracker? My Fitbit has just died. I’ve heard good things about Garmin? Any recommendations?

samthebordercollie · 05/09/2025 12:38

I don't know about tate press and triceps kickbacks but there are a few sessions of back and biceps with renegade rows, I did one this morning. They seem to be regarded a bit useless compared to actual rows by the fitness industrynow so maybe that is why there aren't as many.

Gobacktotheworld · 05/09/2025 14:27

I didn't think I liked renegades but grudgingly enjoy their appearance in some of the Rev full body days when I redo them because they're different. There's also the three point row you can do as a plank off a bench (hands on the bench) so it's half core, half back- you get full range of motion on the row, and it's really weirdly challenging to use a heavy weight. At least for me, but I'm clumsy. I can't remember if Caroline has ever incorporated these.

I wonder if she will upload another YouTube workout for the 4 million subscriber mark. It's probably awkward timing for her given she is preparing for the IronPro launch (and she clearly does the filming and editing herself). I'm just happy the Epics are all still up there. It's staggering how much work she did for free (or at least without fair reward, since YouTube is pretty ungenerous to creators).

I meant to say a few sessions of renegade rows in PE back and biceps sessions 🤦🏻‍♀️
Im not going to unsubscribe from the App as there is so much on there and I think she deserves paying for all her hard work. Compared to other apps CGX isn’t too expensive. And PE isn’t on YouTube I expect to be doing it again for the 4th time in the future. I add variety sometimes by changing the post exhaust sessions into pre exhaust and vice versa to change things up a little

Minesril · 06/09/2025 09:34

I finished Unleashed a few days early so did one of the kick ass kettlebell workouts. Twas fun and was very sweaty by the end which is always nice!
