Does anyone take creatine regularly?

im not into supplements, can’t even manage regular vitamins, or remembering to take the pricey collagen I bought, but I am increasingly seeing articles in legit media saying things like regular low dose creatine makes women fitter, stronger, healthier and slows ageing. Does anyone take it? Feedback? (I will have to be taking my collagen regularly to allow myself to add a supplement)

can I ask what was very low please?

It was around 1.2 mmol/l with lab ranges given as 2.55-20.0 mmol/l for a female. This happened on 3 tests and I twigged the reason & told the GP I was vegan at the time so not enough creatine to convert to creatinine. The meat sorted it out a treat, it elevated to 3.4 mmol/l. Vegans are told to supplement B12 but don't think I've ever seen creatine mentioned.

One more question - do you have it just with water?

I put mine in my post training protein shake cos it's easiest. You could have it in water or anything really. And yes no need to load and it doesn't matter when you take it.

I do. But you can mix with whatever you like. Juice, coffee, anything. It’s a bit gritty so I just mix with water and shot it

Just a note..... I have very high creatinine, poor functioning kidneys, so shouldn't add to the issue. Worth checking kidney function before taking certain supplements.

Most recent recommendations I've seen say there's no need to have a loading period. Just go straight to 5g a day and ideally don't stop. Loading is only if you want a short term boost to performance (or dramatically increase the look of muscles).

Ah ok, I didn’t know that, thanks for sharing

It's excellent for menopause brain fog. I don't take it in winter because you need to drink loads to keep the stuff happy. The rest of the year it's easier.

My son takes and carries an ESB (Emotiinally Support Bottle) everywhere he goes. I may have to steal some of his ad or sounds good, especially if it helps fatigue and sleep.

PrincessOfPreschool · 10/01/2025 12:31

Emotional support bottle

dynamiccactus · 10/01/2025 17:22

Yes I take it most days, I put it in my porridge.

KungFuSock · 10/01/2025 18:18

I don't think I'd be able to take powder form, mine is gummies (easiest way to take 😂)

Scarydinosaurs · 10/01/2025 18:20

I take tablets - I found it helped me sleep. I got out of the habit but have put it next to my protein shake to try and remember!

ThursdayLastWeek · 10/01/2025 22:19

I take two scoops ish in water every morning.

I deffo feel the benefits with regards my weightlifting - and as I’m entering peri I’m hopeful I’ll feel the benefits there too.

My words get lost between my brain and my mouth in spite of taking it so either it’s not working or I could be a lot worse!

Gymbunny2025 · 11/01/2025 21:17

I have it in a smoothie about once a week. I tried mixing it with my morning porridge but didn't like. Should I consider taking it once a day?

RayKray · 11/01/2025 21:42

Yeh it's meant to by 3-5g a day

That's good to know as I have low kidney function, so maybe best I don't start taking it, all sounded so good as well 😔

Where do you get gummies? That would be way easier.

@Codlingmoths I have these gainsnutrition.uk/product/creatine-gummies-natural-berry/

KungFuSock · 17/01/2025 09:54

@Codlingmoths the gummies are from gainsnutrition, currently a little bit cheaper on their website.

I can't taste it in my porridge, it's only a small scoop.

Gymbunny2025 · 17/01/2025 16:45

It was more the... texture. Annoying!!
