PT costs?

How much is a PT where you are? I'm with pure gym in the North West and toying with the idea but scared to ask how much....

I pay £35 an hour and go twice a week, which I am well aware might seem excessive to some...but I don't spend much money on myself otherwise (I wear old clothes and don't get my hair / nails done etc) so I withdrew a chunk of savings last year and thought right, I'm using this to sort out my health, and its been a really good investment so far! I've lost 9cm from my waist, many cm's all over various parts of my body and my body fat percentage has gone down from 31% to 27%. It's also massively improved my life in all other areas because I feel confident and happy now in my skin.

We do purely weights / barbell work / strength training in the sessions. I wouldn't pay a PT for cardio - I can do that in my own time. I am paying for my PT's expertise on correct lifting form / injury prevention etc.

North West here too. £37.50 an hour. Don't begrudge a penny!

It's closer to £60-70 around me. Surrey.

£35 an hour in north west. He creates me a programme to follow, I see him once a week and train solo twice a week (then cardio other days).

I have a virtual PT. I pay £100 a month for a tailored programme and as much support as I need over WhatsApp and video. I weight train, no cardio.

It is going to massively depend on where you are and also the level of experience the PT has. Some PTs charge less for regular long term / committed customers. Mine charges more for clients he finds hard work 😂

@Snowpaw If they are in demand they can charge a lot. So around me it's 60-70 ish for a good PT After all if someone does 4x 1 hr sessions a day. That's say 4x65=260 a day.

That 4 hours turns into more like 6 hours with driving from house to house. Then there is time each week to do accounts etc.

£260 a day for a professional is hardly masses.

Yes I guess if they are coming to your house thats an additional cost to factor in. The one I see doesn't travel, he just works out of an independent gym and I go to him.

I pay £100 per month. She meets with me in person for one hour once per month to review form and discuss any problems. Then she writes the program out for the following month and if there are any queries she answers those by email.

I also attend a group training session one time per month with the same coach, which I pay for separately. I pay for my gym membership separately from my coaching. I don’t train at her gym except when I am there for my 1:1 or for the group training session.

I need someone to set out what to do. I don’t need someone standing over me telling me what to do in the moment - if I needed that I think I would pick classes because that many hours of 1:1 coaching would be out of my price range.

I do a strength sport and my coach is a strength coach. The coaching is an investment, but we get results and it is good for my mental health so I am still going.

I think it also depends if you’re hiring one through a gym you’re already a member of or if you go to an independent person who runs their own business as a PT. I think it’s £35 an hour at my gym but that’s obviously with the gym giving them the use of their facilities.

I prefer to do it within a gym environment for the fact he wouldn't be able to lug the Smith machine and the squat rack to my house!

I paid £30 ph but with discount for block booking. So ten sessions for £275. In the south west, working out of his gym.

I have a gym at home. I don't have a smiths machine but I have a squat rack and pretty full set up

That sounds awesome. I have a spin bike crammed into my home office / laundry drying room and that's about all I can fit 😂

I used to pay £174 for 5 x 1hr sessions in the south east but it all depends on the PT as they set their own prices. Another I know charges £50 per 1 hour session.

£55 at the local Nuffield Health. I find that excessive, though I get how they don’t actually make that much overall.

£25/hr in a private gym, north west.

I pay £152 a month for my PT sessions - one face to face PT session a week. I do 2 gym sessions a week (one with PT and one myself). Access to fitness app to see my workout details and progress and food tracking app (similar to My Fitness Pal).
Have worked it out as about £35 per session (1 hour)

Yes I had a PT who charged £30 a session if I paid 10 sessions in a block. She stopped being a PT to retrain as a teacher, and I got a shock when I looked around and people were asking £60 for online sessions!

Clearly she undercharged.

I recently found an outdoor group PT session which is £8 a session.

Mine’s £35 per hour & £30 if I block book, out of a gym in South-West London. She did me an exercise plan and I have a session with her once or twice a month, the rest of the time I work out by myself.

37.50 a week in east anglia. For that I get a 30-40mins session at her house weekly one on one ( mixture of weights and bodyweight) and 4 x20minute group online sessions ( mainly with dumbells/ some cardio). I don't go to gym but have dumbells/ barbell at home to use.
She is also great at suggesting other sessions to do by myself in the week.

I don't get my nails done, get injectables and get cheap haircuts so it's my main indulgence for myself and it's really changed my body but also been great for my mental health. Worth every penny.
