Also, another question about the app - what do you all watch it on? I only really have access to a laptop and my phone in the room I use. I think it will be too small on my phone. Can I access the app just online on my laptop (it's not Apple)?

HarpyOfACertainAge · 18/02/2025 09:15

I have done Iron, Fuel, Epic Heat and currently doing Epic 3 on YouTube. Based on what I've read here, I think I might do Epic Endgame and then get the app. I saw on Facebook that she has a new programme coming out that is approximately 30 minutes per workout, which is perfect for me on busy work days.

I think with the app you can cast to TV? I would struggle just looking at my phone.

Ignore that - I've found the answer.

I'm closing in on the end of Epic Endgame on YT. I've also done Epic I and III, Epic Heat, and Iron (YT version). Haven't done Epic II because a 1hr session doesn't really work for my life. Contemplating doing Fuel on YT just for completeness and then I'll have to make a decision about the app...

Fucketbucket · 18/02/2025 19:13

Hi Folks, I'm keen to try CG and follow a couple of FB groups. I'm 45 and seriously needing to shape up. I used to be fairly fit and strong but busy life and work has got in way.
Does anyone do the CG workouts at the gym?

That's a shame, Epic 2 is one of my favourite YouTube programmes but I understand about the time constraint. I'm sure you won't regret subscribing to the App if you decide to do so!

pharmachameleon · 18/02/2025 19:40

@Fucketbucket yes I sometimes do the CG workouts at the gym but mostly do them at home now that I've got lots of weights. At the gym I just start the workout on n my phone, put my earphones on and go for it. The benefit of the gym is seeing your form in the mirror and the bigger selection of weights.

DreadPirateRobots · 18/02/2025 19:45

@Fucketbucket I do a mix of home and gym as I have subsidisied gym access at the office and am in 3 days a week. As @pharmachameleon says, my gym does have a bigger range of weights whereas I only have 2.5kg increments at home. At home I cast to the TV, at the gym I just use headphones and my phone.

What are your thoughts on Epic Endgame? I am planning to do that after finishing Epic 3, which I'm about half way through. I've already done Epic Heat, Iron and Fuel and YT.

I enjoyed Fuel because I liked the cardio element.

Mostly that the 100 rep finishers are BRUTAL. 😁

I don't have strong preferences between programmes tbh, other than that I like one with HIIT especially since I can't currently run. I'm enjoying Epic Endgame and it's working me hard.

Cherryblossom81 · 22/02/2025 08:45

Morning all. I know lots of change/progress is very gradual (and I sometimes question if I am actually making any progress), but earlier this morning I've just had one of those moments where I've realised that I must be getting stronger....

This will probably sound ridiculous, but when I started CG workouts last April, I couldn't even do one dip. I think it was a mixture of lack of strength but particularly my tiny and weak wrists. For a long time, I weakly attempted one dip, then had to rest while Caroline was continuing and then maybe managed one more dip at the end. However, this morning I did dips for the whole time (I think it was 45 seconds)! And to make me smile even more - Caroline paused part way through and I kept going!

Sorry for the essay. I don't talk about any of this with anyone in real life (just quietly get up early and do these workouts and then get on with my day).

DreadPirateRobots · 22/02/2025 10:10

Totally here for that @Cherryblossom81 . Before I started doing weights I could only do pushups on my knees. When I started CG I couldn't do a single tricep pushup. And I'm still not knocking them out easily (especially the deadstop ones), and I'm still not as strong as CG, but sometimes your progress does suddenly become visible to you and you're like... Whoa.

BigButtons · 23/02/2025 21:34

Well done @Cherryblossom81 it’s just great when stuff like that happens🤗

samthebordercollie · 24/02/2025 09:31

@Cherryblossom81 you've been so consistent I'm so happy for you your work is paying off and you're seeing results! Talking of dips, I'm thinking of getting some push up bars like the ones Caroline uses, but seeing how she struggles I'm not sure it's worth it as I'd probably only manage one or two!
How tall are all of you? I'm 5'8 and so things like pull ups, presses, squats etc are harder because of longer limbs so harder to get full range of motion.

AtomicBlondeRose · 24/02/2025 16:10

Tricep push ups are really hard! I was amazed the first time I did one, but I can still only manage maybe 3, then I switch the cobra.

I’m oddly very good at dips on a chair, but feeling confident I tried one on some bars at the park and couldn’t move an inch so I wouldn’t buy some for myself just yet!

Ha, yes good idea, I think I'll try them in Decathlon before buying! If I can't manage more than 3 - like pull ups - it's a waste of money!

Thank you for all the encouragement last week after my comment about dips!

I finished Epic Heat earlier this morning, and after all the comments a few weeks ago about the app, I think I'm going to take the leap over to the app. I'm hoping to get some time this evening to get the app and choose where to start to be ready for my workout tomorrow morning.

Has anyone got any recommendations on which series should be my first one on the app?

Good afternoon all. I've ended up just doing a couple of random workouts over the last couple of days as I didn't get time to subscribe to the app and get it all set up etc.

However, I'm now trying to decide if I should just continue until I've done all the series on YouTube? Any thoughts?

I've not done Fuel, Epic 1 or Beastmode yet (but think I've done all the others on YouTube). Should I do these before moving over to the app?

ellebelli · 04/03/2025 20:34

Its what i am doing @Cherryblossom81
I only have Endgame left to complete-BUT i am going one further by doing all of her workouts that I can find on Youtube, there are so many stand alone ones ranging from 10mins to 1hr..I am having fun putting these together to create my own series if you will.
Once im done with these I plan to get the app then, Probably in a few months.

samthebordercollie · 04/03/2025 20:39

@Cherryblossom81 Beastmode is a great programme and only 2 weeks, good traditional lifting! And Epic 1 is, well, Epic. Some really good workouts, some completely bonkers and some never to be repeated in subsequent programmes (the 20 minute complex day sticks in my mind, as well as the handstands!). If you like lots of cardio and burpees you'll enjoy Fuel.

Gobacktotheworld · 04/03/2025 22:05

I didn't realise there would be a whole 6 weeks between programmes when I signed up for the app, eep. Is it always 6 weeks?

AtomicBlondeRose · 05/03/2025 17:35

There’s usually a gap, yes but there’s loads of content on there and she’s still putting out the odd standalone workout too. It’s a good time to pick up a series you haven’t done yet - I’ve been doing bits of Intent and Beastmode in between new series.

I've never expected back to back programmes! The planning that goes into them must be huge and the fact that even in 'off' period Caroline is able to deliver 3 new workouts a week or a new mini series is surprising to me. She also gives weekly briefings and recommendations of what workouts to do for the following week. I don't think her App is expensive compared to other Apps, plus she's doing it all on her own it isn't like Bodi or other Apps where there are several content creators.

ellebelli · 05/03/2025 18:54

I didn't know there would be that long a gap-however it wont bother me, by the time i do sign up i will always be so far behind, i will never be stuck for a series to follow.
I currently subscribe to a trainer on Patreon and it's £15 a month for 3/4 workouts in that month.
I feel Caroline's is great value and I can't wait to join.
Cancelling my Patreon membership at the end of this month,

Gobacktotheworld · 05/03/2025 19:12

Thanks for the responses. I was just surprised that this week it is a 20 min shoulder complexes workout and a 30 min lower body light barbell workout and that's all that's new for the week. The app is OK value for me anyway.👍 It will take me a while to go through the ones I have made a note to do.
