Can strava upload an activity for the wrong location or wrong date?

Name changed for this. Dh is away at the moment. An activity was uploaded on his strava today for a location he was in until Friday but he is meant to be someone where since then. Is it possible he is in the place he says he is and the activity was uploaded from another day (it is a run which is near identical to one he did on Friday at 8.13 am rather than 8.12 today). Same route just with a bit more on it today (roughly 0.2k more). Could it be some kind of freak or is he def today where strava said he is? No other reasons to doubt him. But this has really thrown me.

Does he use a Garmin or Fitbit linked to Strava? I once had a run not sync correctly from my Garmin and it didn’t appear on Strava until two days later. The time was also totally wrong (clocked as a 4am start instead of an afternoon run).

Confusedsyravauser · 05/03/2023 18:14

@Swalewhale wondering where I muddled up the days? There was a run on Friday. One with a map. Where I was expecting him to be. Then on Saturday there was a manually uploaded one. I assume it was on a treadmill. Then todag (it clearly says today and for Friday clearly says March 3) it is a v v similar route to Fridays with a map. Just different pace info etc. I definitely haven’t muddled it up on strava even if I have in my descriptions here (though I can’t see where that is).

If I do upload the same ride twice, once from my watch and once from my garmin the times on different segments can be slightly different.

Confusedsyravauser · 05/03/2023 18:15

Ok mrmarkham that could be it. The paces are just slightly different.

And my overall mph will be different, I always delete the slower one! 😀

Confusedsyravauser · 05/03/2023 18:16

@OntarioBagnet thank you. So it could be a glitch if one upload happened today maybe??

Possibly. Sometimes actually if I don’t upload my phone ride until the next day when it initially uploads it says “today” and I look and think well it was yesterday. I think it normally reverts to the correct day by itself.

Does he have a run partner? You can add someone to your run who didn’t record, with premium, but they have to agree.

Confusedsyravauser · 05/03/2023 18:29

@museumum no run partner

Do you know his login details for find my iPhone? Do you regularly check each others Strava account? If so can you question it in a non accusation way. Joint bank account? Check any transactions for the weekend and see where they are?

I would presume it was an error and that if he is up to no good he would cover his tracks better than this.

Confusedsyravauser · 05/03/2023 18:50

Nothing else out of the ordinary but he doesn’t have an iPhone so can’t track him. Yes to anoint bank account but nothing in there. This is the only weird thing

Op - just read this.

ive deffo had duplicates Strava entries. I’ve also had them come up a day or so later than they should. So if I’ve recorded on my watch and phone, they come up separately anyway plus sometimes a day apart. Then I have a mass upload of data.

What did Dh say what you asked him?

Confusedsyravauser · 28/03/2023 06:29

It has become clear that he lied re location :(. Working out what that means at the moment. Strava was correct on this occasion.

Oh dear sorry to hear that. Hope you are ok.

Was just coming on here to say that from your details, it sounds like he’s lied. Long term garmin and strava user here.

I’m sorry OP. I guess at least now you know rather than being kept in the dark, but that’s cold comfort. I’m sure there will be more to come. They tend to frantically minimise and lie when caught out. Stay strong. 💐

Clymene · 28/03/2023 06:44

I'm really sorry Sad

Clusterfunk · 28/03/2023 06:50

Practical point: screenshot and save all the details. He may delete and then attempt to gaslight you about the details. Voice of experience here.

Confusedsyravauser · 28/03/2023 07:53

Thank you @Clusterfunk @Birdsongsinging

What an idiot. I don't think MI6 will be recruiting him any time soon! So sorry @Confusedsyravauser

Chesneyhawkes1 · 28/03/2023 08:22

I use Strava every day. Record from my Garmin and it uploads automatically.

Not once has it duplicated a run. Uploaded it saying the wrong date. Or the wrong location.

Sorry to hear he's lying 🤥
