Can you see any difference in my stomach?

canyoufeelit · 28/12/2022 20:19

Definitely not a boast thread 😆

I gained weight around four years ago and despite doing a lot of running/walking/gym classes nothing has really helped me to shift it.

I've changed tack and started seeing a personal trainer.

Rather than weighing myself frequently and getting frustrated by the scales moving slowly this time I'm taking my measurements and trying to use photos to identify my progress (I will also weigh myself intermittently, but not the week after Christmas).

Anyway, can you see the difference in the stomach area in these two pictures? The T Shirt is the same, just the leggings are different.

Can you see any difference in my stomach?

Difficult to tell with the t shirt like that , do you feel better?

canyoufeelit · 28/12/2022 20:51

I definitely feel stronger and fitter, esp in my core. Sorry, I don't really have any way to wear the t shirt other than like that.

Can’t see your stomach on the pics but well
done anyway!

Maybe lift the t shirt up ?

lifter · 29/12/2022 08:50

The shirt hides the stomach in the pics but your posture looks better. What are your measurements like?

Whataretheodds · 29/12/2022 08:58

You'll be able to track progress vetter if you lift your t-shirt for photos (for you if you don't want to share them on here).

SallyWD · 29/12/2022 09:08

It's really hard to tell because the photos are taken at a slightly different angle and you're wearing a very loose top. However, it looks like you've lost weight in your stomach. Well done!

Thank you I already have underwear photos I'm just not posting them on here.

Thanks - I thinkmy stomach sticks out further than my breasts in photo 1 but not in photo 2. I find measurements hard as I don't have a very defined waist (apple shape) but I think I've lost an inch from my waist.

I'm sure your stomach has benefitted from the change to a PT.

however, it's completely impossible to say on those photos because you're posing differently, your distance from the camera is different etc etc.

I don't blame you for not wanting to post underwear photos, but it's the only way anyone could answer truthfully.

I'm a bit concerned that it's a couple of days after Christmas, not even New Year & you're already obsessing. It's good to exercise & it's good to keep an eye on your weight, but it's also good to enjoy the life you have now, not waste it obsessing over how flat your stomachs is & looking back on opportunities you missed out on because of it. Or because it's not as flat as you desire it to be!

I'm not obsessing.

I have dangerous tummy fat that I am trying to reduce and - because it's difficult to measure - I'm asking if anyone can see the difference.

Do you usually speak to strangers like this?

From what I can see, you look slimmer definitely! I'm an apple too and it's bloody hard work keeping it in check isn't it? 🙄

Yes, it's always been a challenge for me, it sounds like you know the pain! I developed an autoimmune condition 5 years ago and since then it's been so difficult to make any difference at all.

I am at least 3 inches away from a healthy height/waist ratio (given up on BMI) so need to keep at it for the sake of my health, especially as there is a lot of heart disease in my family.

Oh and I've been back at work and in my usual routine since Boxing Day - not all of us have weeks off work at this time of year, it's a perfectly normal time for me to be thinking about the progress I'm making with my training. I'm working New Year too btw.

@canyoufeelit I've found the best thing is lifting weights, that has made a difference. I also drink approx 3L of water daily infused with lemon. I love wine. That's a nightmare for that area and anything too carby so try and follow an 80/20 rule. I'm also on medication post breast cancer and that has really affected by tummy. Keep on keeping on! 💪

So sorry to read of your breast cancer, I hope you are recovering ok now.

Lifting weights has definitely made a difference to me, I do bodypump twice a week but started PT because I wanted to work more on my form and lifting heavier and it has really helped with that.

I'm crap at drinking water so thank you for the reminder!!! Also just gone teetotal which has worked for me in the past, so fingers crossed!

Yes OP I can see an overall reduction in body fat. Well done. Keep going! 👍

Notellinganyone · 29/12/2022 16:21

Definitely look noticeably slimmer in the right hand photo.

Ideasideas · 29/12/2022 16:25

Definitely!

Speedweed · 29/12/2022 16:48

I can see a difference - it looks like your stomach doesn't stick out past your boobs anymore, although can't see how far it goes in because of how the tshirt hangs.

That's a big change, well done!!!

no idea really what you mean by speaking to people 'like this'. But yes, I'm sorry if being gentle, kind & concerned, then yes.

What a rude response to someone who was trying to be kind to you!

Nobody can tell from your pictures because you’re wearing a t-shirt that hangs off your breasts so you can’t actually see your tummy at all. Take measurements with a tape measure if you’re trying to keep track of inch loss.
