C25K while working from home, anyone want to join me?

I've been meaning to (re)start C25K for a few months and just this minute figured if I don't start holding myself responsible I won't get to it at all.

I work from home 3/4 days a week and still find it hard to fit in exercise. I plan to fit in the 30 min sessions before I start work, after seeing my DC off to school. Ideally that +/- a desk workout type thing.

If I don't, I get next to no exercise all week and I feel shit.

Is there anyone else, particularly those working from home but anyone is welcome, who would like to join me and help keep ourselves accountable? I could do with a motivation boost!

Welcome @LBB2020 !

Honestly, what we do for these DC Grin

I was supposed to run yesterday but my DC has kindly passed on a wretched cold so I didn't manage it.

W2 R1 planned for this morning, hoping I can sweat some of this bug out and shake it off!

Not too bad thanks @lisavanderpumpscloset I ran 5 minutes walked for a bit then ran another 5 minutes. Was pleased that my body has retained some level of fitness! So I think I'll maybe start from week 4

Sameiam · 17/05/2022 08:01

Week five is a 20 min run so be careful, it ramps up fast 😂

Did my first run with a group and felt a bit if a fraud running 60 secs when I'm doing my other reruns as 20 mins ish on the treadmill, but it is a lot different running on pavement and my feet probably need some easing into it so I'm not killing my knees.

lisavanderpumpscloset · 17/05/2022 10:03

I couldn't do my run. Disappointed in myself but I feel awful. Don't really fancy running with snot trailing down my face 🤢

Would it be terrible if I miss it this week and start again Monday when I (hopefully) feel better? Argh stupid cold I'm really quite annoyed 😢

5 mins after a long break is really good @emilyjeff. I do find that when I stop and and restart I find it's easier to get back into it than I expect, but as @Sameiam said, the next week is a bit of a jump so take it easy

@lisavanderpumpscloset I'd definitely have the week off and resume once youre feeling better.
Yes good point @Sameiam I had forgotten that! I may do week 4 twice and then move onto week 5. I want to feel like I'm pushing myself a bit, but at the same time don't want to do too much too soon

I've seen a lot of research showing walking is nearly as good as running. Try to get out for a fast ish walk instead? I find it easier when I keep the routine even if I do something easier during the time.

What speeds are people jogging at? All the googling I've done suggests people are either a) super fit already or b) massively exaggerating. So many people complaining they're running slowly at 6mph! That's pretty much a 30 min 5k, which unlikely for brand new unfit runners 🤔personally I'm more like 4.8mph but finding I'm not too out of breath at that and could probably chat at the same time.

lisavanderpumpscloset · 17/05/2022 14:45

A walk is doable although I'm not going to get time to fit it in today. I walk at 4.5 on my treadmill, run at 5.5 for the first few runs then increase gradually over the second lot of runs and run at 7 for the last one, but not sure if my treadmill is in mph or kmh. I wouldn't be able to have a conversation at that speed but I like pushing it the last few runs

Week two run done! Found it pretty straightforwards, new trainers are helping. Still about 20 people in the group I'm running with, will be interesting to see how many drop out over the next few weeks.

LBB2020 · 19/05/2022 18:54

W1 R2 done! Think my legs are going to feel it tomorrow and I’ve booked onto a class at the gym so I’m sure that will be fun 🙃

emilyjeff · 19/05/2022 21:15

Evening ladies
I ran again this morning before work, wouldn't say I enjoyed it, but feeling good about getting back out there. I'm also trying to do 15 mins yoga on the mornings that I dont run

lisavanderpumpscloset · 19/05/2022 21:33

Well done all of you! I never did get round to my run, not even a walk. Back on it Monday though, feel ready to get my heart pumping

Does anyone here lift weights? Just sort of like to tone the arms etc?

I keep telling myself I'm going to do some core classes to try to help my running, I have non existent stomach muscles

TaraRhu · 19/05/2022 22:27

Yes! I need to do it. It's been a couple of years.

LBB2020 · 22/05/2022 09:50

Wk1 complete! My legs are still sore from the Friday gym class but I wanted to get it done! How is everyone else doing?

LBB2020 · 25/05/2022 07:16

Morning, I did wk2 run 1 last night on the treadmill. It was fine, hopefully get outside for run 2 tomorrow evening. Hope everyone is having a good week so far

Sameiam · 25/05/2022 08:01

Week 3 tonight! I can do it on the treadmill but am way more out of breath outside 😅

emilyjeff · 25/05/2022 08:35

Hi ladies, keep forgetting to post on here! I'm sort of loosely following the plan but my fitness is coming back a bit quicker than expected, did week 4 but then yesterday I just ran without any real plan and did 2.5km without stopping 😁
Only problem is I'm holiday from Saturday! Really try and need to get out once or twice while I'm away

LBB2020 · 25/05/2022 09:22

I’m the same @Sameiam so am trying to do at least one run outside each week.
Well done @emilyjeff 😀

lisavanderpumpscloset · 26/05/2022 13:53

Sorry all I've been totally crap and haven't rang since my last run. Bleh I feel like shit. You guys still going are brilliant, need to find my mojo and catch you up!

Week 3 done! Found it easy but did talk the entire time so was v distracted.

Surely this isn't a problem, it's an opportunity- you'll have more time to run on holiday surely, not less? Mind you, in our house, holidays are basically just lots of running, with a bit of beach in between 😄

LBB2020 · 26/05/2022 19:03

Just finished wk2 r2 😃I was so tempted not to do it as it’s quite windy and looks like it’s about to rain but I actually really enjoyed it!

LBB2020 · 29/05/2022 09:33

Week 2 complete!
Hope everyone is having a good weekend

Sameiam · 29/05/2022 10:38

Walked 20km yesterday in london so legal hurt too much to go out 😂 fingers crossed for tomorrow
