What running leggings do you use?

Belle82 · 21/03/2022 17:48

I am getting back into running. Unfortunately the Nike capri running leggings I have had for 10 years Blush are starting to rip. I realised how expensive new ones are.

I'm looking for ones with a zipper pocket for my phone & a tie adjustable waist.

I would love to know which ones you use?

Thank you Daffodil

I have Decathlon and Ron hill ones which are both good - tie waist and zipped pockets
Don't slip down

I find the sweaty Betty compression style (even M&S versions) slide down - so I have a baggy crotch after a while and have to stop to pull everything back up

randomsabreuse · 21/03/2022 18:02

Tikiboo has good sized zip pockets but most android phones are marginal for most zipped pockets. iPhones are easier to fit in.

It's a pain...

pawpaws2022 · 21/03/2022 18:03

I cycle but use sturdy by design leggings
Bought a pair, received them and immediately bought another!

DeepfriedPizza · 21/03/2022 18:11

Sturdy by design or Tikiboo. Both now come with thigh pockets as well as a back pocket. I personally use a running belt for my phone though.

Monkeytapper · 21/03/2022 18:16

Marks and Spencers Go Move, side pocket for phone and back zip pocket.

Wash and fit well, different lengths and patterns

Monkeytapper · 21/03/2022 18:17

Might be Goodmove actually

GregBrawlsInDogJail · 21/03/2022 18:41

I tried the Sweaty Betty leggings that everyone raves about and went right back to M&S Goodmove, for a third the price. They are my favourites so far, although admittedly I do a mix of weights/PT/run/yoga so don't tend to go in for the "serious" running brands like Ronhill.

Redpostbox27 · 21/03/2022 18:54

Ron Hill or 2xU compression leggings (bought in TK Maxx) . The latter don’t have a pocket though, so I have a mini bumbag instead.

coughup · 21/03/2022 19:01

Tikiboo are the only ones I've tried that didn't slide down. Can get an iPhone SE in the waistband pocket but I don't think a bigger model would fit.

YoComoManzanas · 21/03/2022 19:03

Decathlon are the best. I have some sweaty betty but their more for fashion/gym wear. They don't stay up.

fellrunner85 · 21/03/2022 19:17

Ronhill are my favourite. Decathlon for a cheap version, and I also have some Nikes I like.
I have Sweaty Bettys as well, but they're not as good as the above, for the price.

CarbonelCat · 21/03/2022 19:20

Rainbows and Sprinkles have been recommended to me but I have to admit that the price has put me off so far.

Tikiboo and Lucy Lockets are similar and both come up second hand a lot.

Rozbos · 21/03/2022 19:45

Sweaty Betty zero gravity. They have a zipped pocket at the back, tie string waist and a thigh pocket for your phone. Personally I find they last for ages too. Well worth the money and often on sale

Zazdar · 21/03/2022 19:46

USA Pro and and Gymshark plus some other unbranded ones I bought but I can’t remember where.

QuentininQuarantino · 21/03/2022 20:02

I like Gap's exercise leggings, as long as it is a style with a side pocket and inner hidden drawstring. They started to fall down after I'd lost 3 stone but I've gone down a size and they're great again. They often have 50% off days so I wait for one of those to buy.

Belle82 · 22/03/2022 18:08

Wow, I didn’t expect such a great response. Thank you so much x

One of my friend is using Sweaty Betty leggings. She feel very comfortable during her running time.

TeethingBabyHelp · 23/03/2022 09:43

I've tried loads and my Matalan ones are my favourite. Cheap as chips and I can run for 45 minutes solid without having to pull them up!

Ifeellikedancing · 23/03/2022 09:46

Tikiboo or sturdy by design. Prefer Tikiboo though. I am a nightmare shape (large belly, small bum) and everything falls down on me except these two.

FourEyesGood · 23/03/2022 10:28

I always come back to Sweaty Betty (Power or Zero Gravity, depending on time of year - ZGs are thinner and lighter, so are more suitable in the summer months). I’ve tried loads of other brands but they don’t stay up or hold everything in place in the same way. I loved the Tikiboo prints but they didn’t have the same level of control as my SB Power leggings. SB are pricey, but they last really well.

AuntieStella · 23/03/2022 10:28

Decathlon - all theirs are good (squat proof) fabrics with selection of pockets and drawstrings. Easily best VFM

But I read that the company (French) have not halted their expansion plans in Russia, so you might want to check that and decide if you want to buy from them at the moment.

Nike, New Balance and Tikiboo all good

I wasn't that impressed with Sturdy By Design - a seam gave much earlier than I would have expected wear and tear. Maybe I was unlucky

Do think about using a belt for your phone - I realise that's not for everyone, but if you do get on with it, it means a wider choice of brands than those with big enough pockets

BogRollBOGOF · 23/03/2022 10:29

Decathlon is tough to beat on basic function and value.

Ozanj · 23/03/2022 10:29

Karrimor do the best pocket ones in my experience

TopSecret99 · 23/03/2022 11:00

I wear bench ones, got them from JD sports. Never get a baggy crotch or have to pull them up and not expensive at all!

I got back into running recently and was shocked at some of the prices of leggings- I want them to do the running for me for those kinds of prices Shock

Isonthecase · 23/03/2022 11:35

How tall are you? I find sweaty betty are too short for me but Lulu lemon are amazingly comfortable and don't slide down if you get the ones with a tie. Obviously either option pick something up in the sale because otherwise my goodness the prices. Also like my fabletics ones, they have a good selection fairly cheaply if you cancel after the trial. Not sure about the waist tie or zips but I've not noticed they've not had them so obviously not been too much of an issue!
