Enjoy!

I’ve done a few now but remember how nervous I was for my first one.

Most people are super friendly and just want to help you, cheer you on, etc.

Top silly tip - don’t go all out so you can get lots of PBs in the future!

Newrunner29 · 27/08/2021 21:03

Also add im not a naturally fit person and take much longer

When I started c25K I as definitely not fit. I often ran near to parkrun, saw all the bright colours and fast runners and scuttled home.

I’m sorry to say I now wear all the colours, still not fast, often run/walk with the DC but go most weeks (pre covid, just getting back into the habit now).

I’m tail walking tomorrow, the perfect combo lol!

GunsNShips · 27/08/2021 21:24

Good luck and enjoy! You’ll be stood on the start line wondering what the bloody hell you’ve got yourself into but when you cross that finish line you’ll feel so proud of yourself it’ll carry you there next time!!

One word of advice: DFYB!

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 27/08/2021 21:40

Good luck OP & have fun, enjoy your achievement & don't worry about your speed, everyone covers the same distance in the end!

Pucarbuile · 27/08/2021 22:15

Good luck and enjoy it! The one near me has some absolute superstars on it. I just about finished before the 300 year old ok, maybe mid 80s man and got the same cheer the first past the post did. Parkrun is great.

MirandaWest · 27/08/2021 22:18

There’s usually a first timers briefing around 8:50 so try and get there for that.
Make sure you have your barcode printed out as otherwise you won’t get a time.
It’s fine to run, walk or do any combination of the two.
Enjoy yourself Smile

rookiemere · 27/08/2021 22:20

Brilliant- enjoy it and you'll never be last because of the tail runner.

RelentlessForwardProgress · 27/08/2021 22:30

Have a lovely time @Newrunner29

It really doesn't matter how fast/slow you are, honestly. I've had a lot of fun at Parkruns, but as much on the weeks when I was walking at the back as when I was than running nearer the front Smile

Do you have a barcode? You need to register on the parkrun site (its free) and take a printout of the barcode with you.

Just enjoy it. You won't come last! ...That'll be me, as I'm the tail walker Grin

Houserenoqueen · 27/08/2021 22:49

Enjoy! I’ll be there tomorrow too.

AgnesWaterhouse1566 · 27/08/2021 23:03

Enjoy yourself! It's a brilliant thing to be a part of, I wouldn't be without it. It's a great community and you can feel virtuous all weekend as you've done a 5k before a lot of people have got up! 😁

GunsNShips · 28/08/2021 09:56

How did you get on @Newrunner29 ??

Before you know it you'll be rearranging things in order to get your fifty t-shirt!

RelentlessForwardProgress · 28/08/2021 22:09

Awesome! Well done Smile

Newrunner29 · 29/08/2021 20:38

I do have a question, ive got super sore thighs, on the top not sure if thats correct body term, ive done 5 k before a few times but never hurt like this! Im wondering when the pain stops as i do want to go next Saturday! And worried i wont be able to go out myself before, is it safe to run while they still hurt? Or shall i wait until pain is completely gone. ?

Did you do any stretching afterwards?
Have yourself a nice warm bath and do some gentle stretching afterwards. Aim to do some light exercise tomorrow - walking or swimming and it should go off in a day or 2.
