What Knickers do you wear in the Gym? (fatty!)

Hiya, can anyone recommend any decent knickers for under gym leggings please? I'm struggling to find any suitable ones at the moment. All mine either have lacy bits which make lumps, or are the wrong fabric so get really really sweaty. I am a size 18-20 ish with a big belly, and like to be fully covered, no thongs or bikinis. I find that so many knickers don't have a back seam either, and you end up with one giant buttock which looks weird. Is there something out there I'm missing? Does anyone recommend anything?

I mainly do treadmill and weights, if that makes a difference.

My best advice is but patterned leggings then the VPL isn’t so noticeable

My favourite leggings are really jazzy ones with rainbow glow in the dark polka dots! I'm currently eyeing up some tropical leaf ones too. I've also thought that actually, NOBODY is looking at my arse while I work out. I'm old, I'm fat, I want to be comfy, so the VPL is actually not an issue.

I wear Decathlon or Morrisons high leg stretchy pants.

ToffeeNotCoffee · 14/08/2021 21:07

Primark 'big bum' knickers. Full briefs. The elastic tucks under my bum cheeks and stays there. Those no VPL knickers, I don't trust them because they ride up 'hungry bum' style.

I've got a pair of M&S 'flex fit' knickers. Hopeless. They roll under my spare tyre and stay there. I don't like wearing them at all. I take a size 22 for pants, trousers etc.

I don't wear pants under leggings to exercise. No pants = No VPL. Simples.

Cycling shorts.

dementedpixie · 14/08/2021 21:38

They are period pants I think

FrazzledCareerWoman · 14/08/2021 21:50

None... what's the point
You can always see them when someone wears them!

dementedpixie · 14/08/2021 21:53

I dont care if people can see my pants
I need the extra support for my flabby areas

MEgirl · 14/08/2021 21:58

@BobbinThreadbare123

I also just wear the big knickers. I can't stand the labels on gym leggings scratching me so knickers are necessary. High waist, full brief a la M&S.
Ditto

None.
I buy good quality leggings to hold it all in. Much easier than trying to make sure leggings and pants work together.

Ohjustboreoff · 14/08/2021 22:04

I wear these monstrosities
www.heygirls.co.uk/shop/super-soft-black-cherry-period-pants/
They cover EVERYTHING and are so comfy. At my age after two DC's there is sometimes a little leakage, they are fantastic for Spin class. They stop my undercarriage from getting too bruised and can be worn on my period. Win win!

Janaih · 14/08/2021 22:06

Asda or m&s full briefs. Yes you may get vpl but I don't really give a shit if other people in the gym know I'm wearing pants.

Seesawmummadaw · 14/08/2021 22:07

I’ve never worn knickers under my gym wear.

Hippopotas · 14/08/2021 22:12

@HDready

Runderwear - no seams, moisture wicking
I second this I’m a 20-22 and I love them.
Hippopotas · 14/08/2021 22:14

FYI I wear an xxl in runderwear. They have good stretch.

Guineapigbridge · 14/08/2021 22:14

I wear period pants. They absorb the sweat.

crummyusername · 14/08/2021 22:29

I only wear Runderwear for sports - actually wicks away the sweat. I’d recommend going up a size as they come up small ish.

AnonymousA · 14/08/2021 22:41

Primark do really comfy knickers which are great for the gym. Seamless, stretchy full brief style that give my mum tum a bit of support and don’t fall down! 3 pairs on a hanger and only £6.

My cotton knickers are normally soaking wet where they ride down under my belly after a gym session but these stay dry and stay up. Wash well on 60 degrees too.

Ballygowenwater · 14/08/2021 22:49

I wear the £1 Primark Lacey thongs. I know you say you can’t but honestly they are the most comfy underwear I own. I’ve worn them since I was a size 8 teenager and now as a size 16-18 adult they are still my fave. I’ve tried everything else from M&S to sloggi.

I have seen that modibodi do work out specific underwear which look interesting. I love their period pants.

Ballygowenwater · 14/08/2021 22:50

I should clarify… I’m not wearing the same pair 15 years on.

Havaword · 14/08/2021 23:02

Ok I never knew people didn’t wear underwear under gym clothes Shock, what about the seams?
