A stone to lose, exercise doing nothing

I've posted in weight loss chat but thought I should post here too

I'm currently doing 2 body combat classes per week and 2 weights sessions
I'm not losing anything

I've been watching lots of crap online about things like v shred, or you shouldn't be running for ages

I just don't know what to believe or what to try?

Any advice would be great thanks

God don't eat fewer calories 🙄

felulageller · 08/08/2021 10:40

Alcohol is just sugar- it's like eating candyfloss almost everyday!

MattyGroves · 08/08/2021 10:45

Do you really need to lose weight? If you're already a healthy weight, that may be the issue

EarringsandLipstick · 08/08/2021 11:33

I came here to say that.
CorporeSarnie · 08/08/2021 16:33

Agree with above, we don't know what your current weight or goals are and how sensible they are.
I was at my heaviest ever (BMI was firmly in overweight) when I went down to 1600, this was doable for a long time, even with taking the odd break or takeaway, and plenty of vegetables and fruit overall. Developing a healthier relationship with food was my main goal (past ED and trauma meant that I was using food as a crutch)

@TomAllenWife if you eat cheese then eliminate it completely for a while at least as it's so high in fat it's actually equivalent to eating lard! You can get your calcium intake from other sources instead... try it and see!

TomAllenWife · 08/08/2021 22:02

I drink A LOT

example:
Thursday; 5 pints of lager
Friday: 2 pints of lager, bottle of red wine, 4 espresso martinis and another lager with a shot
Saturday: no alcohol
Sunday: 500ml red wine & 4 pints lager

I know this is a lot, but I go out a lot and don't want to not drink

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 22:05

That's a lot of empty calories. No wonder you aren't losing any weight

tigerbreadandtea · 08/08/2021 22:06

Ok pretty fucking obvious then!

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 22:07

Your 5 pints are likely around 1000 calories for a start

LordEmsworth · 08/08/2021 22:11

Pint of lager is maybe 180 cals. Bottle of wine 900. So that's maybe 4000-5000 cals a week on booze.

And your body can't metabolize fat while there's alcohol in it. So slowing weight loss.

So depends how much you want to lose weight, really...

Wombat64 · 08/08/2021 22:11

Exercise & food is not your problem here.

Bryonyshcmyony · 08/08/2021 22:12

Oh fgs!

Wombat64 · 08/08/2021 22:12

For every gram of carb you hold a lot more water, all that alcohol is pure carbs.

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 22:13

Putting rough amounts into the drinkaware website gives around these totals. This is why you arent losing weight

Wombat64 · 08/08/2021 22:13

Be interesting to work out the daily calorie counts including the alcohol.

dementedpixie · 08/08/2021 22:15

www.drinkaware.co.uk/tools/unit-and-calorie-calculator

Ted27 · 08/08/2021 22:15

a pint of lager is approx 180 calories
bottle of red wine approx 600
martini approx 100

you are drinking approx 3500 calories or an extra 2 -3 days worth of food a week

thats why you arent losing weight

Sparklfairy · 08/08/2021 22:16

So you're drinking approx 4300 additional calories over a weekend...

TomAllenWife · 08/08/2021 22:18

Fuck me 43 units a week ShockShock

Switch to drinking spirits with low calorie mixers (or neat without mixers), you get the same alcohol content for far fewer calories, and there are some amazingly complex flavours to experience at the pricier end of the spectrum for various spirit options.

Agree with PP that a "handful" of almonds could be a huge number of calories depending on how you define a handful. Tuna or egg salad could also be v high cal if mayo is used at all - even half a tsp is quite a calorie boost.

catfunk · 08/08/2021 22:47

Jesus fucking Christ I just read the updates 🤣

catfunk · 08/08/2021 22:48

Are you for real op? Had no idea that 10 pints of lager and 2 bottles of wine might be an issue?
