Well the scales frightened me this morning 12st 12lb!!! At 5ft 1 to say I look a little round is an understatement! I have no excuse either ive got a home gym (DH is a gym freak) I've eaten far too much cake and bread and pancakes!

Downloaded couch to 5k and completed the first run this morning on the treadmill it wasn't too bad but it was no fun.

Anyone want to join me? When am a bit trimmer I want to go running outdoors I feel too wobbly at the min......

Run 3 of week 2 done. That's the first time I've managed 3 runs since July!

@Squiffy01

Hi all, Would love to join. I’ve put on three stone in a year and need to get my bum into gear. Today I did Wk 2 run 3. Counting down every second going to try for week 3 not sure I will manage but will keep going until I can.
How did you get on with week 3?
VenetoResident · 28/02/2021 09:08

Did W2R2 yesterday. It was fine. R3 tomorrow and then on to W3. Interested to know how others found the progression.

I started C25K and got about 4 weeks in then had to isolate. While isolating I started some Fiit classes (free with Sky) (entry level 25 mins each, really doable) and when I went back to running I found it sooo much easier.

Now doing either a run or a Fiit 25 min strength class every day.

My resting heart rate (Fitbit) has dropped by 10 BPM over the past month.

However, I do have to diet too to lose weight.

I ran my first 5 k on Friday !
DSis and I started early January , and to begin with just wanted to be able to run for 5 mins , once we’d done that we felt more confident
She ran 5 k the week before me
I’d planned to run for 20 minutes , and once I got to that time is decided to keep going
It took me just over 34 minutes ( I’m 60 , DSis is 58 )
We’re both planning on doing the 5k distance once a week
We have treadmills , and use those at the moment but will run outside ( when we can find a nice flat route )
We’re both so proud of ourselves , and it’s a real confidence boost , I feel as if I can do anything now !

And if I can do it , anyone can , keep at it 👍

I start W3 tomorrow so I shall let you know.

Glad I've found you - I completed week 2 on Friday, on to week 3 tomorrow.

I've done C25k twice before but finding it much tougher this time. I'm blaming moving to a more hilly area rather than my age and increased weight!!

Hoping to mix it up with some Les Mills dance and yoga once the kids are back in school.

VenetoResident · 28/02/2021 14:49

I'm starting yoga this week too.

So the plan will be:

Mon: run
Tue: yoga
Wed: rest
Thu: run
Fri: yoga
Sat: run
Sun: rest

I have my COVID jab coming up week after next. Hoping that won't put me off.

Week 3, run 1 done. It wasn't too bad. I felt like I was going much slower though. As I was still quite far home, I added a 4 minute finish. I'm very conscious that it's 5 mins in week 4.

teaandbiscuitsforme · 01/03/2021 11:05

I've just done W3R1 too. Surprised how short it was! The 3 minute runs were ok, but I did do it at the park rather than at home which is much more up and down.

Yeah it is short, isn't it? That's why I had to add time on to the end as I was still far away from home and needed to get home to start work!
teaandbiscuitsforme · 01/03/2021 14:14

I wanted to do a bit more too but DD was on her scooter and starting to flag! Looking forward to the schools going back and having a run on my own!

kirinm · 02/03/2021 09:42

W3 Run 2 done. According to my fitbit which I don't think can be trusted, I was nearly 30s a km faster today than yesterday. The app did pause and I only realised when I thought the 90 second run was taking a rather long time to end.

Finished the run with a 4:30 min run. Hoping to get that to 5 mins so I'm mentally prepped for next week (plus I need to get home for work).

VenetoResident · 02/03/2021 12:42

We're all adding extra bits in!

I did W2R3 last night. I did the 6 x 1.5 minute runs and decided to do 3 minutes after that. Managed 4 minutes. Really struggled from the first running steps with a bad stitch though.

Feeling confident about W3R1. Have changed my monitoring from start of warmup to end of warmdown to start-end of running. Even so my heart rate is down 7BPM from the first run (which included warmup / warm down minutes!).

kirinm · 05/03/2021 14:49

W3 run 3 done plus a run of 4 mins and then another of 5 mins afterwards. I think week 4 is going to be really tough.

teaandbiscuitsforme · 07/03/2021 12:47

I finally completed W3R3 (self inflicted ankle injury earlier in the week!)

I was finding it tougher than I thought. Running from home in the country lanes going up and down is definitely harder than the park where I'd done runs 1 & 2. I finished the cool down walk and decided I'd keep walking to make a loop home. Then got to a flattish bit and thought I'd do a bit more running - I only ran for 3 songs!! Not sure of the actual time (9-10 mins?!) but I genuinely can't believe it. I'm really unfit this time and have found my legs are really aching, although yoga has definitely been helping.

Looking forward to week 4 now - I can't believe I actually ran a little bit like a proper runner!
