Well the scales frightened me this morning 12st 12lb!!! At 5ft 1 to say I look a little round is an understatement! I have no excuse either ive got a home gym (DH is a gym freak) I've eaten far too much cake and bread and pancakes!

Downloaded couch to 5k and completed the first run this morning on the treadmill it wasn't too bad but it was no fun.

Anyone want to join me? When am a bit trimmer I want to go running outdoors I feel too wobbly at the min......

Good luck. I was struggling to get outside so I have started some Les Mills workouts, but I am a (proud signed up member of the slow runners club) runner normally. I definitely want to pick up running again soon so I might follow your progress for motivation Grin.

IPeedInThePool · 18/02/2021 12:48

What do those workouts consist of?

I need to get my fat arse into gear. Am creeping into a 16 from a 12-14 this is not cool!

I am just back from (outdoor!!!) run 1.

I've lost 7kg since 5/1 and have 7 to go so I'm hoping some exercise will help that. I'm doing a low carb diet too (Harcombe). My BMI is now 27.5 and I'm aiming for 24.9 - the very top of healthy!

Run 1 was ok, not helped by the rain starting! I didn't have much more left in me though. This time last year I was running 5k (well 10k with a coffee break half way!) so I know I can do it.

IPeedInThePool · 18/02/2021 14:46

Wow 7kg that's amazing! Am trying to eat healthy along side this aswell!

Are you doing the 2nd run on sat?

VenetoResident · 18/02/2021 20:01

Yes - I'm going to aim for every other day. You too?

AlexaShutUp · 18/02/2021 21:29

Well done for getting started! The programme is very good, I have just started week 6, and am amazed at the progress I have made, despite being extremely fat and unfit. It has been hard at times, but it's all achievable. Good luck to those of you just starting out!

If you want to throw something else into the mix to make the treadmill more interesting Peleton are offering a 30 day free trial of their app. There are walks, walk/runs, hikes and runs on there. You won't get access to their leaderboards and metrics as you need a Peleton treadmill for that but you can still follow and have fun with their workouts. I used a free trial of their app back in April (for the spinning) and it was very easy to cancel, they even send you a reminder just before your free trial is up.
I can't run at the moment due to knee damage but am a lover of the Les Mills app (also offer a free trial) - so many different workouts with and without weights. Their body pump programme is fantastic for toning. I find I'm much better following some sort of class - keeps me exercising for longer than if I was doing my own thing and I love the music and find the instructors motivating and there's always something different to do to suit my mood and energy levels.

IPeedInThePool · 19/02/2021 17:51

Yep doing my second run tomorrow am dreading it but it needs to be done. My legs are a bit sore this morning too.

Ooo I was looking at Peleton treadmills jealous, I didn't know that was something they offer via an app too will definitely check that out!

W1R2 done ✅

Felt better but the sun was ☀️

Good luck for your run!

IPeedInThePool · 20/02/2021 15:18

Yep mine done too how did you manage I found this a little easier than last I think because I knew what to expect?

VenetoResident · 21/02/2021 13:27

Yes - maybe knowing I could do it helped. Also last time I thought it was 20 minutes of running and warm down so I wasn't mentally budgeting for the last two runs.

UnaOfStormhold · 21/02/2021 13:29

I would recommend this how to guide and the community that goes with it, both really helpful and encouraging: healthunlocked.com/couchto5k/posts/136914770/faq-post........how-to-run-c25k

Me too OP very similar position / weight / height to you. Just ate some pancakes for lunch!! Let’s do it together!

millenialblush · 21/02/2021 13:41

I am also starting C25k this week! I've been looking at old threads on here and its inspired me. I've attempted twice before but given up for various reasons. Determined to do it this time! I literally cannot run, but really want to be able to!

IPeedInThePool · 22/02/2021 12:38

Let's do this! Am dreading today's run my body is on fire from doing some jobs in the garden which involved lots of heavy lifting. I will power through though otherwise I will give up and am determined to complete the whole thing!

That guide linked above is fantastic thanks so much!

I'm going to be restarting C25K again (!) I think I may start from week 2 as I can still run a bit. I am so out of shape though. I'm too scared to get on the scales but I really want to change things.

I've also started doing an old skool favourite, 30 day shred. It is only 25 minutes and I really can't find an excuse why I shouldn't be doing it. Running is good but I think additional exercise is needed really. I used to run 5 x a week and do 2 personal training sessions a week. Things have really slipped!

millenialblush · 22/02/2021 13:45

I did mine this morning, I've promised myself that if I get to week 5 I will treat myself to some new gym wear. My body isnt hurting too much yet but tomorrow could be interesting! Good luck on yours @IPeedInThePool

kirinm · 23/02/2021 10:13

I did the first run of week 2 today. I can't believe how unfit I have got. I was counting every second of the minute and a half run!

AlexaShutUp · 23/02/2021 10:45

Stick at it @kirinm. I really struggled on W2, and like you, I was counting down the seconds. Within just a few weeks, I was able to keep going for 20mins without stopping. I honestly didn't think that it would be even remotely possible, but the programme works. Have faith in it, and have faith in yourself.

I'm going out for my first 25min run later today, and I'm pretty confident that I'll be able to complete it. Very slowly, I should add, but even at the speed of a snail, it's miraculous to me that I can even think about running for that period.

Good luck!

Angbunnyboo · 23/02/2021 16:40

I've just started week 1 again for the fourth time, I'm not fit enough yet to move up to week 2. I thought running was meant to get easier the more you do it but I'm struggling. I feel like I'm wading through treacle I'm going so slowly!

Are you doing it every other day and allowing enough rest in between runs?
Squiffy01 · 23/02/2021 18:37

Hi all,
Would love to join. I’ve put on three stone in a year and need to get my bum into gear. Today I did Wk 2 run 3. Counting down every second going to try for week 3 not sure I will manage but will keep going until I can.

kirinm · 24/02/2021 09:39

Run 2 of week 2 done. My legs are aching due to doing some other exercise so it felt hard.

I am determined to finish c25k this time!
