As the first thread is on 998 I thought I’d better make a new one before adding today’s mileage!

Shamelessly jumping back in to catch the link to the 2021 thread when it's posted!

Today I've finished my arctic ice v-ultra which was running 111 miles over December, so I finished it with 3 days to spare. And now I'm going to rest until 1st Jan, partly because we now have snow forecast every day and partly because I need to! My total this year will be just over 1500 km, so not quite last years total but actually I did resolve last year to 'run less but run better' and I'd say I have done this; I've made some good times this year, and have also really developed a good stretching/yoga routine which I never did behind and pays off immeasurably

Sorry to hear you're in pain @TriSeaSwim99. Hopefully you will be ok after a restful couple of days. Thanks

Inniu · 28/12/2020 19:08

Some very impressive totals.
I hadn’t done any running since Christmas Eve, plenty of walking and even a sea swim but no running, so I dragged myself out for a cold 6k this evening.

15.38 miles of walking done this week, there was no way it was going to be more...tier 4 life is keeping us inside pretty much all the time.

I signed up under an old username and promised to do 500km this year. Only a tiny drop compared to many people, but managed it today! Actually my main run left me on 499.7 for the year so I had to run up and down the drive for a while.

Thank you. It was a real spur to get moving after the races were cancelled.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/12/2020 17:58

That's great - glad you made the last 300m!Grin

We left it a bit late to go out today so just 5km before the light faded.
1799... I'm going to have to do at least 1 km tomorrow aren't I?

Got up to run but there is a layer of frozen snow on the ground. Totally wasn’t expecting that so I am going back to bed.

Inniu · 31/12/2020 11:11

Changed my Ming and did a slow 6 in the snow to finish 2020

912km

TriSeaSwim99 · 31/12/2020 14:41

Thanksbear glad you made your total with better runs. We both made another year! Smile
Having not run for a week I was going bonkers so up early this morning scraped the ice off the car for a stunning sunrise steady 5k run, then because it was so beautiful a 10min swim in the sea Grin yep it was 1c air temp & I did relent with a shortie wetsuit instead of just a costume but it made for good post run Ice therapy. So final 2020 totals are half last years run distance but I’ve discovered a love of sea swimming which has really kept my sanity this year! Plus I’ve just listed out 2021 events that are in the diary eek 4 are roll overs with a HM in Feb, a 10m in Mar, Tri in May & Sept plus I’ve recently signed up for a bike ride in June and a trail HM in sept...best get these injuries sorted out Grin What’s everyone else got planned as goals?

Running 545.5km
Cycling 800km
Swimming 59km
Rowing 14km

ErrolTheDragon · 31/12/2020 21:10

Well done you hardy souls!
The pavements were too icy for fast walking here. I really didn't fancy rowing, the garage is pretty icy , but I've just done a kilometre at record fast time for me to get to that round 1800km.Grin

That averages a bit under 5km per day of logged proper walking or rowing. According to the step counter I've done an average of 7.9km per day so if I believed that it'd be >2500 km /1500 miles for the year.

The fact the garage is cold has one upside... the bottle of champagne DH bought for tonight /tomorrow (a 'significant' birthday) is pretty well chilled despite only just remembering to put it in the fridge now.

Thank you to all for your company on this year's journey!

Well done errol enjoy your chilled bottle of bubbly & birthday celebrations.

Anyone up for a 2021 thread Smile

badpuma · 31/12/2020 21:40

Happy birthday @ErrolTheDragon!

Yes please for a 2021 thread. Aiming for a bit more next year.

Jumbojem · 31/12/2020 22:06

Happy new year everyone, and happy birthday Errol.
Here's to many injury free miles in 2021! I'm quite excited, love a fresh start.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 31/12/2020 22:54

I'm up for a 2021 thread but I'm taking a social media detox from tomorrow for a month so will have to join you In feb.

@TriSeaSwim99 I can't wait to get back to real races, none definite by me yet. I have applied for London so if I get a place I will train for that, and if not I might try and find an alternative autumn marathon. Dh and I are hosting a charity run this year for our wedding anniversary (10 years, so we are running 10km in our wedding outfits (yes, my actual big blancmange dress 🤦‍♀️) with as many of our friends as we can rope in, and hosting a big family fun day at a local pub afterwards). Plus I sort of unofficially challenged myself to run 21 21's in 21 (that's 2 every 5 weeks or so, totally doable right?!)

Running has kept me sane this year, more so than ever and I am so looking forward to real events next year all being well.

Happy new year to you all !

ErrolTheDragon · 01/01/2021 00:10

Happy new year everyone!

I think you've nominated yourself to be 2021 thread-starter, TriSeaSwim. Grin

OP posts:
amysaurus87 · 01/01/2021 10:21

Ended the year on 1400 miles exactly! All things considered I'm very happy with that!

@TriSeaSwim99 definitely up for a 2021 thread!

I'm venturing into new territory this year....I'm starting Couch to 5k. I've never run in my life so his could be interesting!

Do we have a 2021 thread yet?

TriSeaSwim99 · 01/01/2021 17:59

I’ve set up a 2021 thread in Exercise but no idea how to link it here Grin come join me.
