I started 13/7 and am expecting it to take me pretty much all year 🙂

I'm not, but I have a couple of friends who are.

One has already finished!

Have you seen this - new women's record for the actual run:

www.itv.com/news/2020-07-28/ultra-runner-carla-molinaro-beats-womens-world-record-running-from-lands-end-to-john-ogroats

(hoping that you find it inspiring!)

MrsJamin · 30/07/2020 20:47

I followed Carla's journey, literally, from the moment she started. She is a proper inspiration! Star

swampytiggaa · 31/07/2020 06:39

She is incredible. Really inspirational.

Personally I’m 45 miles in 😂😂

Yes I started the first one in May. Just hitting 500 miles today hopefully.

I’m in awe of you early wave participants only getting 6 months to do it! It’s really going to push me to do it within the year!

What's the version over a year?

I might manage it in that time, especially as I had a high mileage July, so if that could be included....

Same distance (874 miles) but you have a year to complete rather than 6 months.

It’s organised by end to end running if you search that or LEJoG 🙂 started 13/7 and you could log your mileage from that date 🙂

I am! I’m only logging runs, not walks- unless I get injured. I think it’ll take me about 10 months...

swampytiggaa · 31/07/2020 08:27

@PatchworkElmer I’m doing the same 🙂 hence me being 48 miles in as of today! I actually want to do it steadily as part of improving my fitness so I’m running a small amount every day to start off 🙂

It's just what I needed to be honest. Because of COVID and my job I was living in a camper van on the drive as one of the family was high risk. I was spending so much time on my own I wanted something to do. I have always run but just need to something to aim for as all the events have been cancelled.
I'm toying with the idea with a friend of using 2021 to actually do the Wales coastal path bit by bit on the weekends until we get all of the way around.
Good luck everyone !!

AuntieStella · 31/07/2020 11:49

It's sold out Sad

swampytiggaa · 31/07/2020 15:45

😢 might be worth looking to see if they do another starting next month?

Doing it starting in August!

PatchworkElmer · 01/08/2020 17:27

@AuntieStella definitely keep an eye on the page- they’ve started groups in May, June and July, so hopefully they will do another in the next few months! There is another company doing a similar one, too- slightly longer as they say they take the ‘scenic route’ 🤷🏻‍♀️

@swampytiggaa glad I’m not alone! I keep seeing the people with amazing mileage already and panicking a bit. We do have a year though. I can’t run every day (seems to just lead to injury for me), so I run every other day instead.

PatchworkElmer · 01/08/2020 17:28

Sorry swampy, just saw your update about the August challenge. That’s really good news!

AuntieStella · 02/08/2020 16:42

I've entered the August start, but have not had an email telling me what I need to do.

Should I expect it on Monday (perhaps they're shut over the weekend, and don't have a system which sends them automatically)

Or is it likely I've completely stuffed something up?

swampytiggaa · 02/08/2020 16:58

Erm... they’ve been updating the July map today as more people joined than they could cope with 🙂

Possibly you’ll get an email this week about it 🙂

I'm doing one with My Virtual Mission. Started on Jan 1st and am currently in the Scottish Borders. It's longer than the 'traditional' version at 1080 miles, but you can choose how long you want to take over it. I'm doing it in a year. It's got a pretty good app to track progress, which takes data straight from strava.

AuntieStella · 02/08/2020 19:12

Do you get bling with MyVirtualMission?

I did have a quick look at the site, but was on my phone and it wasn't terribly clear. I'll have to have another look

Alargeoneplease · 03/08/2020 09:51

I’m doing this too and also started on the July wave...
I’m also only logging my runs and aiming for 20 miles a week!
A real incentive to get us out running 🏃🏻‍♀️

ReviewingTheSituation · 03/08/2020 22:50

@AuntieStella - yes, if you sign up for one of their official challenges, there's a medal at the end. Likely to be one of only 2 I'll get this year!

BarelyMerry · 03/08/2020 23:00

There's a run / walk 100 miles in August challenge on FB - free t shirt and a medal if you make the distance and raise £150 for the charity (bone cancer research). Can't seem to post a link but the FB group is called 100 miles in August. I'm doing it, lovely supportive group.

AuntieStella · 03/08/2020 23:27

I'm really worried that I did stuff up the entry I made on Saturday - still no answer to email.

Might have to try to cancel if I don't hear something soon

Have people spotted that there's a Virtual GNR this year? It's promising a raceday soundtrack via its app.

Alargeoneplease · 04/08/2020 05:31

@AuntieStella I got a confirmation email that I’d signed up on the day I signed up but then no further info until the day before the challenge started. Maybe send an email to check your application was all ok...

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 04/08/2020 06:09

With his approval, I signed DH up for the Great Canadian Crossing. Started on 1 July Canada Day). He has 12 months to run 4,800km. He’s taking it way more seriously than I anticipated but there will be several months in the depth of winter where he can’t be outside for long.
